Quaint hotel in centre of city, if you want to be right there this is the choice. The down side it can be a bit on the noisy side from the businesses on the street.

Small hotel, small rooms, but great location for the night life. It is perfectly adequate for a nights sleep. It is clean and tidy, at good price. It is not for a long stay but for a night or two perfectly adequate. It is whatbit is,it ain't whatbit aint!

Great stay

I only stayed one night, but was very comfortable. Great place to stay, very central and staff were friendly and helpful. There is no elevator, so if you have an accessibility issue I would not recommend this location, but other than that everything was fantastic.

Despite your email confirmation, the hotel was unaware of our booking. One assumed the picture was of the hotel, it wasn't. It was the view FROM the hotel. No air conditioning or fan and no lift to second floor and difficult for my wife to go upstairs. Staff pleasant and helpful

Disenchanted !

Booked this to stay enroute from Brittany. On arrival the receptionist was very helpful and directed us to our room, the stairs were narrow for a hotel and quite steep, no lift the room smelt of cheap aftershave and looked very tired. The shower had black mildew and the tray was dirty. We didn't stay asked hotels.com for refund but they never reply. Good luck if you book through them or book this alleged hotel...

Very good hotel

This hotel was excellent value. It is centrally located and comfortable. The breakfast (extra charge) was 7 euros and surprisingly good. The staff were very helpful in changing me to another room when I had a problem with the bathroom. The first room I was in on the 1st floor had a few little extras, like the TV listing magazine and very bright lights, that the second room on the 4th floor lacked. The second room I was in was still perfectly clean and comfy, though. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Tiny rooms but enormous breakfast and water front

Walking distance from train station but I got lost and tripled my travel time. I had to lug my suitcase up four flights of stairs so if you don't want to do that, ask for a lower room. The rooms are no bigger than a postage stamp but I had a view (almost) of the water way--sail boats, barges and cafes spilling on to the cobble stones. The breakfast was copious. I enjoyed it. Centrally located near medieval neighbor with lots of restaurants and cafes.

Planned to stay 2 nights but decided to leave after 1 night. we arrived late in the evening in August and couldn't find parking near the hotel. So after a long way with our Suitcases from the parking to the hotel, we found that no lift exist. The room was on main street at the first floor with no air condition and no option to open the window, water's flow in the bathroom was very poor. The hotel is OK if you are coming without a car and not in summer time.

Excellent L'Univers

Our first choice was full. L'Univers was the next nearest to the station that was a good price. Next time we visit Caen it will be my first choice. Friendly helpful staff, close to the centre of town,and our room had the added bonus of a view of the marina.
