This was our third visit to this fantastic hotel!!! Brilliant as ever, staff are excellent, location beautiful.Hotel is spotless clean, and all facilities are excellent. We would well recommend this hotel. Hotel bar good, especially Manuel. This hotel also has the bonus of an excellent restaurant attached. We had breakfast on our second day at the hotel, excellent self service choice,it was €12 per person but very worth it.
We have stayed previously in the Hotel Playa de la Luz, the sister hotel to the Duque. This year, we decided to come into town and give ourselves some other eating options. The rooms and public spaces were clean, spacious and cool in the heat of the day. The onsite restaurant food was excellent but service was a little 'cool'. Staff in the bars and the buffet restaurant were far more friendly (under less pressure?) and I'm not sure if we would eat in the restaurant again. The town location is better for going out, and there seemed plenty of typically Andalucian restaurants in tiny streets.
Amazing experience at this hotel. It's a great location in Rota on the beach with a boardwalk for several miles. The rooms have beds that are adjustable and very comfortable. The seaview rooms have wonderful views. Especially impressive was the in-hotel restaurant El Embarcadero. Excellent food and service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody.
The entrance to Duque de Najera from the street is elegant. Inside, vast (and empty in feb/march) spaces gives a sort of grandeur feeling - although a touch of faded glory comes to mind. And it is a little bit worn. Nevertheless, very comfortable and the location is excellent right on the beach and sea promenade. The hotel is built around a centered pool area, with most rooms facing this "inner yard". Public spaces inside are, as mentioned, very large and if you're seeking something cosy or boutique you're in the wrong place. Both the bar and the large buffet restaurant are dimensioned for smaller aircraft parking. The other restaurant in the hotel, El Embarcadero, is on the other hand both excellent foodwise and more normal in dimensions (see separate review). We had an upgraded room on the top floor with a sea facing terrace twice the size of the room itself - lovely! The room could definitely benefit from a touch up, but everything is all the same quite OK. Beds on the hard side. Breakfast is complete in quantity and fair in quality and you can order eggs to your liking. Well... the egg chef had some problems with the English language: he didn't understand "scrambled". After several efforts to communicate we settled for fried... Staff is generally correct, friendly and helpful. All in all a very nice experience. The four stars are correct, but would shine even more with some renovation - especially of the rooms. Considering the price (104 € in feb/march) it is a bargain. Recommended indeed!
GREAT hotel in a GREAT location on the water. Very comfortable room. Excellent restaurant on the premises (El Embarcadero). Recommend paying for the breakfast each day - it is fantastic! Great places to run along the beach, or use their fitness center on the 4th floor for great views while using the machines. Service is exceptional, and the hotel quiet. Keep in mind that I stayed during the off season.
This is the place to stay in Rota. The hotel is right on the beach. We were upgraded to an oceanview room and it was beautiful, overlooking not only the ocean, but the lovely pool and deck. We had an over-sized balcony where we ate our dinner, enjoying the ocean sounds and views. The rooms are large. The bathrooms are enormous, featuring both a large tub and a large tiled shower with 4 shower heads. The closets are huge and we took advantage of the refrigerator. While there was no microwave in the room, there was one down the hall so we used that. Hotel has a bar with a patio that we enjoyed for our before-dinner drinks. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Room was immaculate. Only complaint I had was the noise. On our last night when we had to get up early to leave for the airport, the room next door to us decided to have a party, singing until 2 am and doing other activities that were very loud and obvious. I finally called the front desk, which wasn't as easy as it could have been because you don't just dial 0, you had to dial some obscure number which I had to look up in the guest information book.
Not a 5 star hotel but I gave it 5 because our stay was so great! The ladies that checked us in and out on the 31st/1st of April were so helpful and nice which is above the standard since customer service in Spain is not like the US. They both really helped because we had to cancel the rest of our stay simply because the room was too small for 3 of us but they allowed us to cancel easily. The room was squeaky clean and had a spectacular view of the ocean.
The rooms are a good size and the pool/ocean side balconies are huge. The balconies on the street side are very small and there are a few really good pubs across the street. The staff are friendly and the breakfasts are amazing! There is a small fridge in the room, but if you need a microwave they are communal in the hallway.
Ok hotel - on the beach so great location in the summer. Hotel itself is fairly average - in US it would probably be a step below a Courtyard Marriott. Rooms are tired but bed was ok - still uses a bedspread which is almost unheard of in most of the world. Large pool that has no view of ocean to protect from the wind I suppose. Restaurant is decent. Gym is awful and incredibly small. By US standards you may be disappointed but it is cute just no way should be considered 4star.
Stayed for 4 nights. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast was awesome with a very nice variety of typical breakfast items, juice, coffees, eggs, pastries. The location is great. Right on beach between on the end and close to the stores of downtown Rota. I have stayed here before and would stay again.
