This hotel was very cute and old fashioned, Very comfortable, I stayed in a room for one and even though it had the trainings of a very old hotel, I absolutely loved the character! The staff spoke English and were incredibly friendly and helpful! Would stay again!
The hotel is perfectly located, the building is beautiful and the facilities are decent. Most of all, the stuff is professional and extremely polite and helpful. Congrats to the management for having such employees! Special thanks to David, one of the nicest receptionists I ever met! Because it's so centrally located, you might think that you'll have a problem with the parking. Don't worry about it, ask the polite stuff of the hotel and they will assist you in any matter!
Nice Hotel in a great location just around the corner from the bars and restaurants. The staff are really helpfull. They tell you about the places to visit the buses and a map to hgelp you. Budapest is a fantastic place to visit recommend it to anybody.
This hotel is in a fantastic location to see Budapest. The rooms are large with comfortable beds. We had a great stay; this was the second visit to Budapest and if we go back again we will stay at this hotel. There is a tram stop a few minutes away from the hotel and then one stop on the tram to Oktogon metro station. From Oktogon you can travel a few stops to either the Danube or to Heroes Square and the spa (and the start of the marathon, the reason we were in Budapest). The hotel provide additional towels for us to use at the spa. The continental breakfast was sufficient for us and staff at breakfast and reception were helpful and friendly. The location, combined with the great transport system in a Budapest ensure that seeing the sites is simple.
My room was on the top floor and that time there was quite hot weather, over +30. The air condition did not work, but I got some discount when I mentioned that I had paid for it. The room was really hot during the day, but I managed to cool it a bit for the nights, so I could get some sleep. The hotel and rooms are old but at least my room was clean. The staff was really nice and helpful.
Unforgettable but not in a positive manner. The hotel is outdated, old fashioned and dirty. My towels were even dirty when I wanted to dry myself off.Furthermore the old fashioned bed coverage sheets. I did not felt good for a sleep. Overall for me a no go
It is hard to explain this hotel it has a number of special features that will make it a memorable visit for me. I was given a room on the top floor which had two single beds only one being made up. To me it was like two child size bunk beds, far too small for an adult. So I requested a change and to the hotels credit they obliged and I was given a three Quarter bed in a room next to the lift. On check-in we had to pay in full for our three day stay, with hindsight this was a massive mistake. People that know Budapest would be familiar with the occasional smell of drains that you get on street corners. The first thing you notice is that the drain smell permeates up the lift shaft and if you choose to turn on the air conditioner gets pumped into the bedrooms. Next the bedding, a small duvet and tiny flat pillow fails to cover a dirty stained base and mattress, the bathroom towels are tiny and grey, my colleague even had the benefit of somebody else's long black hairs in their bath towels. My toilet would not stop flushing and the general state of the bathroom made you feel the need to not walk bare foot even when standing in the shower. I could go on about the yellow dirty walls, ancient curtains and a carpet that crunched as you walked on it. This hotel is not really fit for use it is tired, run down and filthy and should be avoided. So my recommendation is look for somewhere else, a park bench is more desirable.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! This place hasn't been updated for a very long time! I felt like I went back in time! I was comfortable and safe and loved the feel of the hotel! Could have been a little cheaper for what is offered. However it's in a great location!
Had a lovely time in Budapest staying at the hotel Unio on Dob Utca Breakfast was ok depending on your palette but overall a nice continental breakfast, the rooms were spacious but in need of some TLC as paper was hanging of f the wall in places and cobwebs were abundant due to the very high ceilings. The bed we had was comfortable but noisy with the window open. No tea marking facilities in the room caused a small concern but a fridge and safe were provided. Budapest it self is great lots of bars and restaurants for the evenings and some fine sights. Food and beer costs varied from place to place and area with beer as little as 300 HUF £1 to 1180 HUF £3.9 You definitely need to take in a spa/thermal bath experience, when there we went to the Lukacs baths as entrance was free with the Budapest card which also included free travel and other discounts. Take a trip to Buda and see the views from the castle quite breathtaking. We also took the Riverride a bus that is a boat and goes around the city and then into the Danube for a different view of the city along the banks it was £25 per person interesting but not worth the money in my opinion. Overall a lovely place for a few days only.
Travelled with a group and stayed at this hotel for six nights. Terrible experience! . Air conditioner (in times when the daily temperature outside was always between 29C to 33 C), television, and fridge do not function.! Besides when presenting a formal complaint about the unbearable heat in the room and the very old and uncomfortable bed mattress, the management's attempt to solve my problems was by providing an old stand fan and by putting a two inch thick piece of foam on the mattress!!! Cleanliness also left much to be desired, Staff can barely understand one word in English. During breakfast time it was a common thing to find chipped cups and plates. The only advantage of staying in this hotel was because of its central position. The hotel is in an urgent need for a refurbishment. I urge those who are looking for a hotel in Budapest to avoid this hotel, as it is definitely not worth One star.
