I arrived in Budapest via the main train station and it took me approx 20 mins walk to the hotel. It is approx the same distance in the other direction to the main square and fashion street of Budapest. I prefer to walk but the public transport system seems pretty good with trams, underground and buses running frequently. As mentioned the hotel is nothing fancy. It is old and outdated but the room I had seemed clean (I didnt feel the need to look too in depth). The room and bathroom were both a good size. I always feel a little dodgy about carpets in hotel rooms so I did choose to keep my shoes on and it was very crunchy under foot. I had a room right next to the lift which was a bit noisy but I put this down mostly to the large group of teens staying at the same time. The breakfast/ restaurant room is large. It is mostly aid out of tables sitting 6 though and not many for only 2 or 4 or I had to take up a large table by myself which seemed a waste. The choice of food was ok. Meats cereal and a decent hot choice also. Non of the staff I encountered were very friendly but were polite. The breakfast staff seemed bored but spoke when necessary. My one issue with this hotel: The mattress on the bed was absolutely rock hard and on top was placed a 1 inch piece of foam which didn't quite fit the size of the bed. it wasn't very comfortable. Overall average hotel. Reflected the low price.
Excellent location.Wifi works well.A/C's a joke - possibly accommodation in Budapest is not equipped to deal with heat! Had to keep will sows open due to heat and we barely slept a wink at night, due to outdoor noise. Noticed some red (possibly blood ) on shower curtain which completely freaked me out.My stay was 2 nights and by time, I found this out was too late to ask for a change in room.Noticed hot water wasn't running properly on morning if departure-unsure if this was due to extraordinary reasons or just normally that way.We didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on food.
Rooms are not clean at all. We traveled with our toddler that wanted to hidr in corners or search after the furniture for some lost toys...i had constantly to yell on him not to touch that corners full of lots of dust. Furniture is old. The carpets not in good shape. The shower was broken. The cabin of the shower was broken. The hall way, the stairs are very dusty. The most terrible place is the restaurant were you can see that dishes are not clean at all. I had my stomach turned upside down when I saw the lady bringing the oranfe juice in a jar full of detergent on the back and then pourring it on the dispencer without any care. Breakfast is poor. No real butter at all, artificial fruit juices.
Big rooms and cheap minibar and good location of hotel. Very useful and friendly staff.Small and old beds, generally is hotel little bit of old. Parking place is in garage of another hotel. Hotel don't have restaurant and offer only breakfast, which is ok.
Very good location. Few minutes walk to the tram and bus stations. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decent spread for Buffet breakfast . Room was ok. There were beautiful painting exhibited in the gallery as well as in the corridors ( few of them for sale)
I met with reception staff upon my arrival and the gentleman was so uninterested and rude. I went up to my room and it hadn't even been hoovered properly. Luckily the bedding and bathroom were clean and usable. Location is great and you can pretty much walk everywhere but I would not stay here again.
We reserved for 2 rooms, being 2 couples. One of the rooms, 411, was better, the lingerie and the towels were clean, the bathroom also clean, but the mini bar fridge did not worked and the single bed was broken. The other room, 401, was very very smelly, we talked with the receptionist, but he told us that he will have another room, but the second day. Also he told us that the room was not used, but if we will use the shower, the smell will go away. We brought a room deodorant, used the shower and everything, but without any result and stayed there 2 nights, but it was horrible. The third day we asked to change the room, they offered us 311 room, but this room also it was very smelly. We asked to change again the room and we received 412, which was a normal room without a bad smell. Please take into consideration that the toiletries include only a very small soap and some shower gel in a bottle in the shower. We preferred not to have breakfast there, but in the evening we asked if we can eat there and they told us that they can serve dinner only to groups. The good part it was that the receptionist were very nice and they helped us changing the rooms and also they borrowed us a knife when we needed it, the wifi is working properly, the distance to the center is 30 minutes walking, in the area you have a 24/7 shop and a Spar supermarket, if you want to grab something. In conclusion, I would never go to this hotel and I will not recommend it.
An old building which has been pleasantly adapted to a small hotel. Comfortable and well-located. Everything efficiently done and clean and tidy. Staff were fantastically helpful with a number of (non-hotel) issues and really made me feel welcome. A very decent buffet breakfast.
A small and warm-feeling hotel, my room was a single with all requirements met. No view (other than overlooking other rooms within the block), but clean, and perfectly functional. Staff helpful, breakfast good value for 5 Euros, and location couldn't be better for public transport. Those posting poor reviews are clearly unrealistically expecting more than the price will allow.
Please dont go there, very old building...we locked ourselves in the bathroom by accident because the door didnt close well, so we had to break it to get out. The reception staff is good but the man with gray curly hair...he was rude from the moment we checked in. We asked him for tickets for the szechenyi baths and he sold us for the spa too (we didnt asked for it) and also didnt explain the conditions, so when we got there we couldnt enter because of the hour (he didnt tell us about the entrance timing). When we returned to the hotel to get our money back, another man of the staff told us that it was our problem because he asked him (curly gray hair man) about our problem and guess what...he said that he explain to us everything!! Anyways, this other man gave us our money back, but I think is terrible that this guy lied about it. Its very sad that this hotel has such bad opinions....the only positive thing is the location of it.
