If you are after somewhere close to Midi-station the location is very good. There are great produce/food markets right in front of the hotel on Sundays. For a 4 star hotel, it was rather disappointing. The room was very small and the shower was a built-in/bath, which was quite difficult to use. for buffet breakfast it is an additional 20euro each. lots of local cafes around for breakfast. definitely, go to the Grand Place and check out the surrounding and a bite to eat.
Clean, comfortable! Very friendly! 2 minutes walk from train station and 20 minutes to center (grand palace). Great if you will be there on a sunday morning--- a busting hectic but cheap market is directly across the street. We got bread, olives, veg, fruit etc for about 4 euro, everyone was kind, had a great picnic in the botanical gardens.
Brussels hotels were all very expensive so I chose this because it’s a 4 Star. Well that’s were it starts to go wrong. The room was great, quiet, clean and very comfortable but rest of hotel is like an Ibis. It starts with €30 for their car park which is outrageous. The Car Park at the Novotel on Grand Place is only €20. The bar area is off reception, cold empty and very dull The restaurant is like a morgue and the food is limited microwave plastic fantastic. The final straw was ordering a Caesar Salad to be told they had sold the last one. That says it all. Certainly not a 4 Star
I would have rated the hotel and the services on maximum level, unfortunately i was not in the position to do so because of the bad neighbourhood. This is a given thing and hope that the local government will do something against it!
The hotel itself was a good distance walk to the city centre but right next to the main train station which was very handy as we also spent a day in Bruges on our trip, the staff were lovely and we were offered our choice of room (we chose a high floor at the back of the hotel which was nice and quiet during the night) the bed was comfy except for the pillows, they were quite lumpy, and the bathroom was lovely. great hotel.
Location was close to station that is only positive about this hotel. A lot of noise from outside that you can hear. The bathroom was stinking so badly and even after informing reception/ front desk, it was not addressed. The host at restaurant was not available and I had to go back to front desk to request to ask someone to attend me. The lady showed up after 5 mins from kitchen (only one person managing). The restaurant had limited options in menu. During check out there were two ladies at reception but only one was handling customer. Even though there were 3 people ready to check out and waiting the second lady at reception continued to ignore customer. I think it is the management of this hotel that is poor and lacking to provide good customer service. Overall, this location was really below average for Novotel standard.
We wanted to stay near the Eurostar terminal. This hotel was a 5 minute walk away. We arrived on Sunday afternoon. The local Sunday market is between the station and hotel. There were lots of armed Police about. Lots of graffiti and rubbish - very different to where we had been staying in Bruges! The hotel was lovely. Polite and helpful reception staff. The room was on a high floor, it was clean and modern. We didn't eat at the hotel, but would definitely stay here if we are passing thorugh Brussels on the Eurostar again.
A very convenient hotel. Staff very friendly, Good rooms, Hotel very clean I travelled by Eurostar and the hotel was only a short walk from Gard du Midi Stations . I had the buffet breakfast and a meal in the evening and the food was good quality and well preented
A solid 4* hotel and great value for the price we paid (circa €70 per night). It's in a good location if you need to get a train or Eurostar but its a decent 30 minute walk from the city centre so worth keeping in mind if thats what you want. Rooms are good and really spacious and our bathroom was massive. We were on the top floor and there was a balcony but we couldn't access it which was a shame. The view is nothing special, overlooking the train lines. There is a bar downstairs that is actually good value and opens all night if you are looking for a late night drink or snack. Only negative is that the bag storage is quite pricey. It's secure as it's an individual locker service but normally I would have expected it to be free or at least discounted for guests.
Modern decor in a comfortable room ideally located next to the train station. The area is a bit run down and so the hotel provides a nice sanctuary - ideal if you have an early Eurostar to catch! The only disappointment was that breakfast did not live up to Novotel standards.
