Beautiful property with amazing views

The house is in a wonderful location and has the most incredible views, especially from the bedroom balcony. The kitchen is really well equipped and overall the property felt very high quality. The customer service was very efficient throughout. Great to have the added bonus of the games room and we appreciated the puzzles and games. The stairs to the garage are steep, but Brixham is a hilly place and it's good exercise!

A lovely cottage

This is a lovely cottage, well appointed, with a garage (my Kuga just fitted). Great location (although be prepared for the steep incline or steep steps). I would highly recommend.

Outstanding Views Of Brixham /Luxury cottage

Fabulous cottage with stunning views over Brixham. Loved sitting on the balcony in the evening catching the last bit of Brixham sun. The cottage is filled with everything you will need for your holiday. Parking in the garage is great. Had seen prior to holiday that the steps from garage to cottage are very steep and they were! Lovely being able to spot the yellow cottage from all over Brixham.

Great place to stay in Brixham

We had a wonderful week in Captains Cottage. Every little detail was thought through, from a well provisioned kitchen to the blankets to snuggle up in and enjoy the stunning harbour view from the living room and master bedroom. Would recommend staying here!

Just an awesome place

The property was just perfect for our stay. So much thought & love has been put into this place that it feels like home with in minutes of being there. The location give the best views of Brixton & we all often found ourselves just looking out for periods of our stay. Also you can see when the pub is busy or not! The games room worked perfectly for our 24 year old son & added to making our stay even more comfortable. The kitchen was beautiful & everything needed was supplied. Bedrooms were decorated to a very high standard with the best bedding ! Also having the garage is an absolute must when staying in Brixham for parking, loading & unloading, can’t stress how important this is to the property. Honestly if you’re looking to stay in Brixham, look no further than the Captains Lodge.

Beautiful

What a lovely house! Everything you could possibly need and thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and importantly for us the car was safely tucked away in the spacious garage. The views and evening sunsets from the lounge and top bedroom were stunning. The owners have restored and modernised the property to an extremely high standard and we are grateful that we were able to experience this beautiful home. We hope to return in the future.

Overpriced for what you get. Rusty garden furniture. Fortnum and Mason branded basket with cheap tea from Lidl and wine from Aldi. Duvet in master bedroom lumpy - needs replacing. Cheap bedding.

Amazing place

The Captain’s Cottage in Brixham was exceptional. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a month, to get a feel for Devon life in the colder months. The host, Tim, was extremely kind and offered us advice/tips throughout our stay. The views across the property are breathtaking, especially from the top bedroom. Brixham itself really grew on us and was perfectly situated for supermarkets etc & made it very easy for us to live in. Coming out of Brixham; it is really well positioned to access nearby areas by car, like Kingswear, Slapton & Salcombe. We had one of the best months.

Very enjoyable stay

A lovely house in what must be the best location in Brixham. The garage and EV charge point is probably unique to holiday houses in the area and is a fantastic addition. It was hassle free to simply park the car, plug it in and not worry about it being left in a public car park. Yes, the steps are numerous, but are perfectly manageable with a bit of care. Those with mobility issues may struggle, though. The house itself was well laid out, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay of a week. Nice little touches like the welcome pack (ignore previous review - Aldi wine can be fantastic!) and plenty of things like dishwasher tablets. Would definitely look to return.

The Boswell’s & Marks

We love our stay here, this was a second time and we are looking at booking our 3rd. Everything is there that is needed and everyone is so helpful! The welcome pack is so thoughtful. And the view is amazing! The men don’t stop looking down at the bay! Well done guys! We will be back

Absolutely Fantastic

The house is brilliantly located and has the most wonderful views, especially from the master bedroom. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Brixham. Very clean, well-equipped and warm (it was January). The games room was a nice feature. The owners replied promptly to any queries and were very friendly. We had a great time and I would happily recommend this house.

Christmas 2023

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas break in this beautiful cottage. Everything was just right - and the owner's directions to find the garage were extremely useful. All the extra touches were much appreciated - the Christmas decorations and the welcome hamper especially. Even the seals came out to play in the harbour and we spotted dolphins (porpoises?) off Berry Head - just magical!

Lovely House

A beautiful house very close to Brixham centre. Really well equipped for self catering with fantastic views, comfortable beds and very convenient location. All in all we really enjoyed our stay although the steep setting means it may not be ideal for everyone. We travelled with a baby and struggled with the steep steps up to the garage as well as down into the town centre.

Family stay.

Stayed with my kids and their partners which relegated me to the twin bedroom at the front. Obviously meant for children with plastic under sheet on beds. Not a problem but the duvet was very small and due to the type of blind the room was always light either from natural or street lighting. Great location and view.

Wow wow wow

A beautiful, clean, stylish, house with everything we could possibly need for a week in Brixham. The garage was easy to get in and out of and following the handy instructions was easy to get to. Loved the games room for pool and the Xbox. Yes the steps are very steep in the garden, but worth it for all the facilities. The views are unbelievable, especially from the top bedroom with it's balcony. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great views

The Captain's cottage is in an excellent location, the private garage is especially useful and makes a big difference. The views from the bedroom and balcony are wonderful and it was very enjoyable to sit out there to relax after a day exploring the area. The directions and information provided is excellent and very helpful. The kitchen area is very clean and well stocked. Beds are comfortable and clean. The cottage was quite dusty throughout with a few dusty cobwebs also. I found myself sneezing quite lot during our stay which I could only attribute to the dust. The upstairs bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned and there several mould spots in the shower area. The towels provided were clean but quite worn and needed replacing. Despite these minor negatives we had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay.

Wow factor

I’m lost for words, this place is amazing. Amazing clean, nothing to want for! Lovely welcome package on arrival! Absolutely everything you need! Every inch of the place is done to a high standard! I wanted to pick it up and bring the whole place back with me, no Infact I would like to move there permanently! What a Cottage!

Full credit to the owners for creating such a wonderful holiday home. It really has everything you could want in a self catering property coupled with being comfortable and clean. The views over the town and harbour are wonderful from the master bedroom roof terrace, especially the sunsets with a glass of wine in hand! As Luxury Coastal comment you do have to be comfortable with lots of external steps due to the location on the hillside. The garage being 40+ steps above the house! Also there are some pretty steep steps down into the town, some worse than others. We really enjoyed our week at Captain's Cottage and made full use of many local restaurants all of which we found to be good. A good base for exploring Devon from.

Lovely house, great views

You are likely to be fitter by the end of your stay! You can’t avoid series of steep flights of steps everywhere in Brixham. Obvious when you look at how it has developed on the two steep hillsides around the harbour. The steps from the garage are steep. You need to be fairly physically active/mobile to feel comfortable with this, especially making repeated trips up and down when loading/unloading your stuff. Just a warning to those less able! The house is well designed, has a lovely sunny aspect and fantastic views. Lots of interesting things to see/do in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic cottage with superb equipment

We stayed at the Captain’s Cottage in Brixham and have been extremely happy with the choice. It starts with the garage, which is a luxury in Brixham - in our case even more so, as we were able to charge our PHEV-rental car over night at a very reasonable price. We were greeted with a lovely hamper, which was very nice after the travel. The cottage was exactly like in the description, just the view in reality was even more spectacular than on the pictures. The furniture in all rooms was very comfortable and well chosen, we really felt at home. And the fact that we could just walk down the stairs to Brixham or to the Coastal Path was a big plus as well. Perfect information on all the rooms and equipment and the surrounding could be found in a thoughtfully composed information folder. Even though already mentioned: the view from the upper balcony is stunning. The description around the steps to the house is correct - was no issue for us, but we can imagine it might be for less mobile guests. One little thing (which has nothing to do with the property): for a non-UK-resident, the recycling rules are (mildly put) intransparent.

Lovely Place to Stay

A very nice place to stay whilst visiting the area. The house is a triple split level with two bedrooms, wet room and toilet on the ground floor with access via a patio door to outside steps leading up to the patio, the games room and, eventually the garage. The outside steps are quite steep with no handrail along the first couple of flights. The steps can be quite.slippery when wet. Back inside and up the internal stairs takes you to the kitchen and the very comfortable lounge and dining area which has some magnificent views over the harbour. The kitchen is very well appointed but a bit cramped when four people are all in at the same time, so Derek and I chose to stay out at all times and look after the wine bottles in the lounge. Continuing up stairs from the lounge is the master bedroom which has full glass patio doors with a magnificent panoramic vista over the harbour and miles beyond. We watched the numerous fire works going off as our visit coincided with bonfire night. Through the patio doors is a small balcony which would be loverly to sit out during a a balmy summer evening with a glass or two of your favourite amber nectar. There is also a separate shower room and toilet located on this floor. The beds are extremely comfortable and encouraged a lazy lay in. There is access through the kitchen to the outside steps which lead up to the patio games room and eventually to the garage. There are lights along the steps which are operated from the kitchen. Access to the front door is up a short but steep set of steps and the road is extremely narrow and care needs to be taken. Once luggage has been dropped off the car can be driven back up the hill to the road at the rear.where the garage is located and walked to either by the rear steps or by walking round, which we chose to do. When we arrived we had no idea where the garage was located as this isn't clear on the promotional blurb but I think another postcode or map should be shown or offered. When we arrived we found that the owners had left a couple of gifts to welcome us to the house which were very much appreciated. This is a loverly house in a great location but a certain level of physical fitness is required if intending to walk into town and back. It is definitely not suitable for the infirm or wheelchair users as there is no access for such. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wishing to stay in and explore the Brixham area
