Firstly the location is superb. Parking is available under the hotel that is very convenient (at extra charge); i understand that you can come and go as you like within the set charge. The rooms are comfortable, if a little dated. We had reserved a king size bed through Marriott directly, but when we arrived there were none available; this despite having paid a premium for a superior room to ensure out bed choice - very frustrating! Kids loved the pool and the breakfast was typically impressive, Overall a good stay we shall be returning!
I’ve stayed here twice now and am staying again. Lovely staff , excellent pool and spa. Lovely restaurant in the hotel ( child friendly) . Breakfast is amazing with a variety of delicious dishes. The room is lovely, very clean . Close to two shopping centres. And around the corner from a pizza restaurant with a view of a river
We were upgraded to a full suite on arrival which was lovely, very spacious and comfortable except for the sofa which was rock hard and uncomfortable, bathroom bit dated but very large with separate shower. Staff very friendly and welcoming, nice meal in Restaurant although not much atmosphere as almost empty, breakfast was good. Location is the best. All in all a nice place to stay while in Bristol.
Visitors beware, there is major building work currently underway at this hotel. From early morning to 6pm, all you’ll hear is the sound of drilling and hammering resonating around the whole hotel. There is no warning notice online about this and the sound of heavy machinery is unavoidable across all floors. The fact that they haven’t shut the hotel, or at the least given people advance warning tells me that they care more about squeezing every penny of profit out of unsuspecting guests than they do about giving you a comfortable stay. I’m voting with my feat and will not be staying at a Marriott again.
Amazing cosy hotel with great friendly staff, great location, warm and nice place to stay in the city of Bristol. Next door to the historic Bristol Cathedral which you can’t afford to overlook. Quite accessible to most places and eating facilities and the watershed
Mould all in the bathroom. Hotel is desperate for a refurb. Changing rooms were thifhy for leisure facilities. Paint falling into the pool, steam room needs a clean and Jacuzzi was pointless, powerless and had too much chlorine. Room was small. Not a £170 a night room. The mercure the night before knocked spots off it. It was very poor. The bar was comfortable and bar men were friendly.
Stayed here for one night, to have a kid & pet free ngt. We stayed in room 1028, which was ok (as expected), although my wife and I both thought the bed was uncomfortable and didn’t really get a good sleep, (we both suffer with mobility issues), we live in Bristol so we stayed here to have a chill out evening for birthday celebration, Walters bar & grill was very good food, and prices was as expected, Could do with a lick of paint and carpets renewing, the hotel is being refurbished soon, but I very much hope they keep it as original as possible, as that was the reason we choose to stay at this hotel, breakfast was good quality produce and cooked well, Bad point: menu in our room was out of date, and as there is plenty of local ciders Breweries in and round Bristol I was disappointed that they did not have local cider on draft (thatchers gold)
Excellent location in the heart of the city. All the usual Marriott brand standards. Could be described a slightly tired, especially the bedrooms and leisure facilities. Staff helpful and nice to have the leisure facilities.
We stayed here on the very snowy weekend and turned up without booking but due to many cancellations they had plenty of rooms. We were offered an upgrade and joined the Marriott club and were told parking was included int he upgrade only to find it had been added to the bill at £14 for the night. This was sorted when we spoke to reception but the couple we were with also had a mistake on their bill. The room was pleasant enough although a little dated. The hotel is undergoing work to upgrade it and it will be interesting to see the difference after this is completed. Our evening meal and breakfast were very nice. Very handy location for the the hippodrome and bars etc. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Another wonderful stay at the Bristol Marriott Royal. We were upgraded to a lovely Junior Suite, well looked after by the staff. Check in and check out were easy and we had a wonderful breakfast both days. A lovely relaxing stay that has charged my batteries for another week at work.
