We loved our time at the Balfour. The rooftop balcony is a highlight at night for a drink before dinner and the restaurant was so tranquil and relaxing for a delicious breakfast under trees. Inside the hotel is boutique and luxurious and the staff were so friendly.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Outstanding service. Nothing was too much trouble. The suite was so luxurious - comfortable beds, aircon that works. spacious bathroom with claw bath and huge shower. A sun lite sitting area with coffee and tea facilities all made for a real homely home away from home experience.........and the breakfast, just yum!
This is a small boutique hotel. It was a 25-30 minute walk to the Queens Street Mall in the city centre along a picturesque boardwalk. As the weather is good most of the time this is a great way to do a bit of exercise on the way to the main tourist sites. The room was modern and stylish. The breakfasts on the verandah were superb (the crab omelette was my favourite). We found out at the end of our stay that they had won the Best Breakfast in Brisbane award in 2017. The service from all staff members we encountered was excellent.
We enjoyed our stay very much - amazing staff, fabulous breakfasts on the verandah and a lovely room that was well appointed and very clean. We loved the view of the Storey Bridge from the roof top bar. The hotel is well located in a quiet street in New Farm - not far from James Street, New Farm village and public transport.
We only booked one night as a birthday getaway but we left feeling completely relaxed. Service was exceptional, excellent food and comfortable rooms. We loved the roof top bar watching the sunset over story bridge. Great location walking distance or short can ride to all you need. We will definitely be back. Thanks spicers for a wonderful stay.
We stayed overnight at Spicers Balfour and it was wonderful!! Fantastic service by all staff, amazingly comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom products and exceptional breakfast menu to choose from. Our stay was definitely 10/10 and I highly recommend this property.
This hotel is lovely the serving staff fantastic esp Edwardo The rooms and all areas are lovely and furnished beautifully However we booked the hotel 7 months ago as it was part of a long 6 week trip from the U.K. to the South Pacific and the reasons we booked were firstly it was small and quite and secondary for a nice restaurant to eat in the evening On arrival we were told they now had stopped serving evening meals and we should of been told which we weren’t and we had invited friends for dinner so had to find another place . We also had an issue with our room no 2 .the first night we we’re woken by the sound of something in the room below which we thought was a generator and told staff the next day . The second night we hardly slept at all as the noise was much worse .My husband tried to call reception to no avail and ended up going downstairs to see if he could fathom the noise and found a locked room .The next morning on checking there was a large freezer or fridge that seemed to be causing the noise . On checking out the front desk manager said they had had no complaints before which is fine but we were complaining . We were offered 55$ off for the drinks we had and were told that they would let the manager know On arrival at our next hotel we received a email offering us a free night back at Brisbane or a bottle of bubbly when we stay at a sister hotel next year when we come for a wedding I replied to say we live in the U.K. and are not likely to go back to Brisbane as my family live in Perth, Townsville and Sydney and stated I was unhappy with the offer To date we have had no further reply which is why I am writing this review We travel extensively throughout the world for business and pleasure this trip was a long trip seeing family and some business .We looked forward to our stay at Spicers and feel let down by the customer after service I am on a panel of a traveler magazine and one of the team suggested Spicers sadly I don’t agree with him
This review related to booking the roof top bar for a small function. The rooftop bar, or if its raining, the library room and balcony on the floor below, set an enjoyable atmosphere for a celebration. We used these facilities for a milestone birthday and it really hit the spot. Food available was suited to a party atmosphere and of course drinks are readily to hand. The staff is attentive and ensure guests are well catered for.
I visited the restaurant with a friend for breakfast yesterday. Our experience was 10 star not just 5! Hidden away in a little nook, it has a wonderful old world ambience. The layout of the dining room is such that there are plenty of different areas with different feels to choose form and privacy if you want it. The food was absolutely exquisite - beautifully cooked, amazing flavours - a perfect combination of subtlety and bursts- and artistically presented to tantalise the taste buds.(My compliments to the chef. That seems somehow inadequate.) The service we received all round was excellent but particularly from our waiter, Edwardo, who turned the experience from great to outstanding. He interacted with us so beautifully, responding to our comments with panache, laughing with us, catering to every whim we had and some we didn’t know we had but at no time obtrusive or invading our privacy. We had the best breakfast ever and I can’t wait to return although I don’t see how it could possibly be as good again
We stayed as both a couple and on business. Both aspects were very positive. We entertained guests for drinks and breakfast and we used some spaces as our office. This was our third stay at Spicers Balfour and we look forward to many future stays.
