Worst Hotel ever. I think google meant -4 star hotel. Staying in room 107 now for unfortunately tomorrow night. It's old, ut smells bad and there is no air in the rooms. Here for a business trip and found out there was no ironing boards in the very crappy room. So calles reception and was advised that they did not have any available (they were not even sorry about it). So i went down to ask for at least a fan. Again i was told they dis not have any available (so i could see one at the reception desk). I asked, can i borow this one? I was given a sharp no. I am German myself but speaking in German with them got me nowhere either. Extremely rude staff (though i probably would be rude too if i worked in such a dump). To go further, there were about 10 guys/girls in anout their early 20s drunk in the bar shouting very loud (thankfully i can't hear them from my room). Stay away from this hotel!!
Breakfast was very good, Room as expected and Reception staff good. However, Bar staff seemed interested in serving locals only and ignored are our waiting for drinks. Had to wait ages for meal which was very low standard when it eventually arrived.
Stayed here last week while i was attending a conference at Messe Bremen. The room was neat and clean and i am satisfied. However there was no hot water kettle in the room and i would have appreciated if it was there. A refrigerator was provided. There is no Ac/fan in the room so if you keep curtains open it can get little hot in the room. It is in a residential area and luckily there is a supermarket close by (max. 5 min walking). Otherwise nothing much around within 5 min walking distance. If you have a car it may be easier to travel around. City centre, train station and messe bremen are about 15-20 min from the hotel and it is accessible by bus. Bus stop is right outside the hotel which is a good thing and the frequency of the bus is also very good. I use to take the bus to messe bremen. They charge breakfast separately. The options were pretty decent and i was satisfied - breads, fruits, variety of yogurt, cereals, eggs, beans, meat options, few veggies, coffee, tea, juices. The staff at the reception was really helpful.
We stayed here because there was a big conference and accommodation in the city was pretty booked out. It is an ok choice. It is a 1970's style hotel which has been updated a bit over the years but still shows its age. Nevertheless it is clean and has the amenities you need. Very good breakfast.
Room was clean but dated . no morning tea/coffee kettle etc. lifts small and very old. pleasant service at desk but bar and food was terrible. 5 persons in bar and it still took 20 mins to get a drink. Purely down to virtually NO staff , first night we had bar food as we were told main restaurant was closed , it took 2.5 hours to come , was wrong and they got very annoyed when we would not sign the room charge slip. Second night there was no food at all ,both bar and main restaurant were closed , we brought in food , but have to say bar service that night was exceptional and she worked very hard and was all over the place sorting orders. Compared to the Campaniles chain no contest !
The Hotel offers evening meals from a limited menu available at the Bar. It took a long time to get the barman to take your order and ages for the food to arrive. We had to arrange our own table for our group of 10 and for some it took 2 1/2 hours from arriving in the bar and trying to place an order until the food actually arrived. When the food did arrive some of the dishes were wrong and there were too many meals. Apart from that the food was rubbish. Insistently, if you were German, you got served straight away! A dish called - Beef strips in ...... surly should have some beef in it! After a lot of haggling, the hotel gave us a measly 25% discount off the food bill, but we still had to pay for 11 meals. Don't eat at this hotel, go into town!
This was a price conscious hotel booking and as such, represented very good value for money. Looks like it was built in the 70's and is beginning to show its age ever so slightly. However, I could not fault the cleanliness of the rooms, the bedlinen, towels etc and the beds were very comfortable. Situated about 3 miles from Hauptbahnhof, it can be reached by trams no. 4 (Bgm.Spitta Allee) or no.1 (Polizeipraesidium), in each case about 10-15 mins walk, or by no.24 bus which pulls up just outside. Noise disturbance was minimal to non-existent and my room had a very open aspect to the south, aided by very large window openings. Look out for the local population of hares, something I have never seen in a built-up area.
The Balladins hotel is a quite good hotel, the rooms are clean, good sized and very quiet at night. But if you are hungry or thirsty the restaurant and bar service, sorry non service drags the standard through the floor. Its service is FAR from superior. Just to get a simple beer at the bar could take 20 minutes, and that's when the bar had very few customers. A glass of red wine took 30 minutes to be served. Unless you were a local customer known by the barman, then instant service. Ordering food from the restaurant was a disaster, not only did the waiter confuse the order four times, eventually the wrong items arrived. It also took over an hour and forty five minutes from ordering to arriving on the table. For quite simply bland, obviously pre-prepared food that should have taken a fraction of the time just to heat in the microwave! By now what it was no longer mattered, hunger took over. From my experience, the accommodation was ok, just go out to eat, there are a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance. Overall what could be a above average hotel was dragged down to below average by the poor waiting staff. Balladins Superior Hotel, I think not!
We've booked this hotel for a short sightseeing and football trip to Bremen. It's not completely located in the city centre, but you get there in around 20 minutes by bus, which is just perfect. The Weser Stadium is also reachable within 30 minutes by public transport. The rooms are rather old, but clean. Breakfast was great. It's also very quiet and so all in all, it's the perfect hotel for a short stay in Bremen.
Stayed there with family with 3 kids in separate two rooms. Nice hotel good ambiance with reasonable price. While this hotel might not quite close walking distance to centre of the city, bringing own car might a good way to explore the city
