Overall, my husband & I enjoyed our stay at the Raffles -- but we weren't thrilled with the level of service we received. Specifically: - We checked in late (~11pm) due to a train delay, and the front desk informed us that our "butler" would reach out the next morning to introduce various services, etc. That never happened, which was disappointing because butler service is a Raffles staple that we were looking forward to experiencing. - Upon getting to our room, which was otherwise lovely, it became clear that the touchscreen-enabled lighting system had malfunctioned. This meant we could only have ALL the lights in the room (+ bathroom) 100% on or 100% off -- no in-between (and no dimming, etc). I alerted the front desk immediately, who offered to send an engineer "within an hour or so" -- but at that point it was nearly 12am, and we were too exhausted to wait so we declined. No one ever followed up with us or offered a solution to the issue, which grew increasingly annoying throughout our stay (e.g., I had to use my phone light to use the bathroom at night because the only other option would have been to turn ALL of the lights on 100% (and wakeup my husband). The issue also extended to the "request service" vs. "privacy please" button, so we had no way of requesting (or denying) maid service. - My husband & I celebrated our anniversary on this trip, and I let the hotel know in advance (hoping for at least a card or little treat) -- but this went 100% unacknowleged.

The hotels rooms are in a mixed use building. This is not a stand alone hotel. The elevators are crowded and dirty , the hallways noisy from the guests 9n the non-hotel owned restaurants in the building.

The service was friendly but very uneven. On our reservation we requested connecting rooms, for our family, which I reiterated when confirming my reservation. Upon check-in they had no notes related to my reservation and not only were the rooms not connected, they were on opposite ends of the floor. Nevertheless, the rooms very nice and comfortable

Please do not stay here. There are so many other places to stay in Boston. Everything was a mess from the point of check-in and no matter how many staff members tried to make our experience better, they didn’t fix the root of the issue - they’re severely understaffed. I’ll hit some of the key lowlights: No one helped us with our luggage upon check-in, we arrived at 3:30 for a 3:00 check-in and our room wasn’t ready, our upgraded premier room had a view of a parking garage, the bedsheets were filthy and smelled like feet (clearly hadn’t been cleaned from previous guests), 23 hours went by without service to the room at all so we had a pile of towels and ran out of tissues, both of us got food poisoning from the lunch at Long Bar (don’t eat the Caesar salads) . . . and this is just to name a few. We wanted to check out immediately upon arrival and they convinced us to stay. Inevitably we checked out the following day and found a much better five star hotel. This hotel is three stars MAX. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay.

Best hotel in Boston without question! The staff are exceptional, very friendly and attentive. The masseuses at the spa, especially (I believe her name was) Paula are very skilled and helpful with sore muscles and joints after traveling. La Padrona, Amar, and The Long Bar all have delicious food. I will definitely be back!

I could not fault this hotel in any way. After long days out sightseeing and shopping it was great to get back and relax. This was our first time in Boston so we’re not sure which area was best to stay in. However the hotel’s location in Back Bay was excellent.
