3 nights at the Nirwana complex where we stayed in. Beach view cabin at the Mayang Sari. Very clean but spartan rooms. Service was great and the shuttle bus between the various parts of Nirwana Resort was very appreciated. It takes you around the complex where you can enjoy approximately 7 different restaurants. Dino at the main resort was best but the Spice at Mayang Sari needs improvement. Lots on the menu but tasteless. Why not cut down on the options and pay attention to a few weellcooked dishes instead?
Lovely chalets on a semi-circle of palm-fringed beach make the ideal setting. The staff are friendly and helpful. But the infrastructure is rather old and tired - the AC is just about up to the job, the plumbing just about works etc. The whole place is nice - basic, relaxed and friendly, but expensive for what it is. It charges prices as though it was a higher-level resort than it actually is. Drinks especially are ridiculously expensive, over ten Sing $ for a small tin of beer, over 12 Sing $ for a glass of wine. Bring your own ! Breakfast was good - plenty of variety. Main tip - bring your own drinks from duty-free when you travel in.
Booked a two nights at the Sea View Chalet to stay with wife on the Xmas festive period. There is a complimentary shuttle at the Ferry Terminal to fetch their guests at scheduled timing so we hopped on. The ride was less than 15 minutes to reach. Upon arrival which was about 12.30pm, we did the usual registration for check-in at the front desk. The room was available at that point so we were able to have an early check-in. A buggy car ride sent us right outside our chalet. The bedroom was very spacious and tall ceiling. Very much empty wall space which i think they could hang up art works instead of leaving a lot of blanks. Our windows are facing the beach which was awesome view and we can hear the ever non-stop waves which was pretty serene to our ears. Day and night curtains at the windows makes useful intention. The bed was comfy and clean sheets. TV channels are plentiful however no HD (high definition) although the television was modern. The bedroom and the closet area don't have much enough lights. It is very dim especially at the closet area, we cannot see ourselves well in the mirror. It was just one tiny spot light above. The bathroom is fine, bright enough to shower and space is just alright. Overall the whole bedroom is clean which is very important. The chalet rooms also look very old and tired, i think they should do some facelift of it. Every chalet have their own balcony to chill so that is one more thing we like. Also, there are taps outside every chalet for use to wash your legs after getting sands from the beach before entering the room area. Now to the facilities... The only restaurant in Mayang Sari was the Spice Cafe which mainly serve Indian cuisines. That venue is also where the guests have their breakfast which is international items. The cafe also looks dim and although it is clean but it's furnishing and titles used makes it dirty and unhygienic. There is also a Beach Bar hut in-front of the beach but it was never open at all. Probably due to low occupancy they had but i think they still should open to make the place lively with good music. The beach have a signage STRICTLY NO SWIMMING ON BEACH and BEWARE OF JELLYFISH. Well, at my own risk i went ahead. Nothing happen, lucky. Mayang Sari has nothing else to have fun. However this resort is located next to one of their property Beach Club so they share the same beach where you can rent the jet-ski, parasailing etc. Nirwana have five properties close to each other so there is another shuttle service for guests to hop properties. Me and wife frequent to the Nirwana Resort Hotel as there are more eating venues, swimming pool, beach, pool table etc to have fun with. The Kelong is also another enjoyable sight place to dine at. Lovely sunset. ATV rides are also handled by them. There will be an instructor guiding you throughout the tracks to take care of your well-being in the jungle. We rode the Jet-Ski too which was an experience for my wife being the first time. She wanna do it again. On our last day, the check-out was fine and smooth. The front desk are always the friendliest people on the planet. Till then.................
This resort is in a resort compound with all other resorts and us such they hold u hostage. A taxi to anywhere is $15-$22. A can oh Diet Coke is $5 and a bottle of red wine is $75. There is no local activities or culture or street food. The hotel is average, a little run down, the staff a friendly and the location is pretty. But don’t stay here or anywhere in Bintan if u want to see Indonesia.
This is not our first time visiting Nirwana Gardens resort, but our first time staying in Mayang Sari. I love that Mayang Sari is well-maintained, quiet and laid-back. The hammock around the resort was a lovely addition. On the downside, the ala carte food menu at Spice restaurant seemed to be of average standard compared to few years back when we visited the restaurant for dinner while staying at Nirwana Gardens. However, the breakfast spread was decent, good varieties and filling. It starts from 6:30am to 10am, so if you have a morning ferry to catch, you can still grab a nice breakfast before heading to the ferry terminal. We chose a sea view chalet for 2 nights. Not exactly facing the sea, but we make do with what was given to us upon checking in (Seahorse 4). Check in was easy and fast and we got our room around 1pm. We were happy with the early check in arrangement. Overall the room was clean, comfortable and they provide good quality toiletries. Would definitely return to Mayang Sari. Beautiful efforts - great service, cleanliness and friendly staff! Special thanks to the complimentary birthday cake that I'd received. It was such a pleasant surprise! :)
Stayed here for 3 days & 2 night to celebrate Christmas with my husband. We didn’t expect much from this resort as what my husband said that, this is quite old resort. We chose the Sea View Villa wherein it is located right infront of the sea. The villa is neat & clean which is important for us, regardless its old structure. Mayang Sari has only beach area but guests can use the pool amenity at its hotel resort because they both belong to Nirwana. Resort has different type of land & water activities, which it adds up a bit to our satisfaction for our stay. Regarding to their food, for 2 nights stay there we have tried The Kelong Seafood Restaurant, Asian Hot Pot, Poolside, Neydles, Dino Restaurant & The Spice Resto where we have our free buffet breakfast. Out of the six resto that we have dine, nothing satisfies us. And the food prices for all their resto was incredibly expensive. Mayang Sari was the 3rd resort we have explored among Bintan & Batam Island, and I could say that there are still much more resorts that is I think better than Mayang Sari. I can only give 3 star for this resort, and that is only for their accommodation, but for the food, 2 star. I suggest to better improve the quality of their food to keep their guest going back to ‘tis place.
Located at a great location, just by the sea beach, activity spot and Kelong the famous sea food joint.Very cordial staff. One suggestion though, the food quality can be improved and more continental dishes should be added.
Mayang Sari never fails... value for money... Sea view chalet is so awesome and the view is great every single day Staffs and service always excellent. Been going there since 2004 and still my choice whenever I come to Bintan
good - beach/grass/rooms/porch/housekeeping service/restaurant food quality and near reasonable prices. bad - beach hut never open, spice restaurant floor was filthy ugly - bintan resorts has a yellow shuttle bus that comes 4 times a day to bring u to nirwana, angsana and plaza lagoi. nirwana has their own shuttle to service the resorts. front and transport desk outrightly lied to us about the yellow bus to go to angsana. agreed to book taxi but then the bus arrived while waiting for the taxi and the transport desk man very quickly waved away the bus before i could say a thing. made us feel exploited, betrayed and lied to. very unethical behaviour and will write to every single party involved.
We stayed at Mayang Sari for 4 days. What was outstanding: 1) Room Housekeeping - the staff did a great job. They even made towels into shapes like bunny and elephant for my son. They even remembered to give us 4 bottles of water after we requested it on 2nd or 3rd day. The furniture (day bed etc) are really good. Cushions nice and clean. 2) Public area - grass and beach were so well kept and so pleasant to sit around in. We loved sitting outdoors for long periods. only suggestion is have more shady areas outside i.e. umbrellas and also some type of roaming beach service to upsell on drinks etc. Beach Hut was never open the whole time we were there. 3) Spice Restaurant - the quality of the food was awesome and the pricing was bearable compared to Room Service or Nirwana Gardens resort. The Bad 1) Spice Restaurant cleanliness - the floor was so dirty. It is clear that no one has mopped the floor for days. 2) Lobby area seating - old & not kept well at all. 3) Transport Desk - Bintan Resorts have a booklet which lists their shuttle bus timings ( a yellow bus with the bintan resorts logo). The purpose of this shuttle bus is to allow resort guests to visit other resorts. Our bus line would potentially take us from Mayang Sari to Nirwana to ANGSANA then to Plaza Lagoi. The Nirwana Resorts have their own shuttle bus which only takes u within their resorts and the ferry terminal. Now, we wanted to go to Angsana for dinner. The Bintan Resorts Destination Guide clearly stated that at 17:40 there would be a bus to take us to Angsana. I asked at front desk. they didn't know. I asked at Transport Desk - the man told me that the bus DOES NOT TAKE YOU THERE. On the day we asked, there was a sticker over 17:40 that said 18:30. They told me they had received an email with a change of time. Fine, we ask to book a taxi (time was 17:35 now), which he called. GUESS WHAT. The yellow bus comes along to the resort and the man quickly waves off the yellow bus (no one is on it) and I yelled "What the Hell?". My husband comes out, we are both furious that we have been lied to. I mean it's one thing to try to make commission/money off your guests by making them captive within Nirwana. It is another thing to purposefully LIE TO US. This complaint will be escalated to many parties.
