We decided to take some time off and we headed to Bintan over the weekend. We were lucky to get Ferry Tickets and the resort had rooms, so we were all set. The Ferry takes about an hour to get to Bintan from Singapore Ferry Terminal.... the ride is quite comfortable. We had private pick up arranged for us (just so we can reach quickly and enjoy the resort) as we were there for the weekend only. Within minutes we reached the resort and the check in was okay. The resort has a beautiful beach, with white sand and crystal clear water. It was a big hit with the kids as they could easily spot quite a few fishes.... The food was good too... can't go wrong ordering Indonesian, while in Indonesia. Rooms were quite comfortable and overlooked the beach/ocean. We had a good getaway.... a much needed break ! Don't wait... just go for it.

I'm satisfied with the price. The private beach right in front of me was very pretty, and I had a fun doing the parasailing, and Ninebot was fine. KeLong Restaurant Black Pepper Crab and Tofu Soup were delicious. I got a spa for an hour, it was fine. I gave it to Korean Won because there is no Indonesia rupiah.

Why is it not known that there has been a big oil spill infecting the beach at the hotel? The staff are prepared with solvents to wash it off so the management are aware of it. It's disgusting. Also, the resort is unbelievably expensive, and the rooms are tired and mosquito ridden at night. Go to Thailand instead.

We stayed in Nirvana Gardens last time and we were staying in Canopi this time. However for having Indian food we had to come to Spice Restaurant in Mayangsari by spending 20 S$ For return car fare from Canopi. Good thing is that you get decent Indian food at Spice Restaurant and they have variety too. However, what I found to be very unfair practice is that they give you only one papadum even though you order two curries . Each curry is supposed to be coming with one set of papadum but they told it is our RULE that on any Indian food table, we can serve only 1 papadum irrespective of curries you order. This was not a fair practice. We felt bad about it as we spent 20$ to just visit this restaurant and they strictly told that it is a Rule they have. I would say a fine dine restaurant like this must review their practices and be fair to its customers. It’s not about money but how you make your customers feel. Visited Spice Restaurant for dinner on 2 -Apr-18 .

Nice staff, including those at the ferry pier, the resort reception, as well as the restaurants. Great environment with many different activities available. We stayed in beach side bungalow. We enjoyed the ocean breeze at the balcony and walking / swimming at the beautiful beach. However, the room was a bit warm while we were sleeping with the air-conditioner on. It was fine after turning on the ceiling fan.

The location is very nice. The resort is located next to the the beach and good access to beach. Whole area is maintained well. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were kind and took care. The food was good and had various options.

We spent a week at Mayang Sari in February, and we had another 10 days in Bintan, so I have a pretty comprehensive opinion about the island and the different hotels. Mayang Sari has one of the best beach side and see among the Bintan Resort hotels as it has a long stretch of beach with a romantic view and with light beige sand. The water was wavy, but suitable for swimming which is not obvious everywhere because of the too shallow water. It was the end of the monsoon time and we could feel that. It was very windy, tones of waste and greenery was coming out of the water every day and the gardeners tried to collect them without bigger success. (Just a notice for the management that 2-3 person for the whole beach is not too much and the equipment they used was like a toy in the sand-box and not professional tools) The property has a 5-star location and the layout also great. Each bungalow is brilliantly situated (not just the 1st row) and opposite to Nirwana Gardens Mayang Sari is not over-filled with tourists, it's pleasantly deserted. But the condition of the hotel is hardly reach the 2-star standard. The lobby is so old, break down and dirty that you feel you are at the wrong place. The restaurant (only one inside M.S. territory) is also heavily break down and dirty. The stuff was always smiley and kind and the breakfast was surprisingly good, but the surrounding is awful!!! We ate in this restaurant a couple of times and could say that the food is great (mainly Indian) and compering to the other restaurants in Nirwana not so expensive which doesn't mean cheap. The whole Bintan Resort area is beastly overpriced. The best and astonishingly cheap restaurant in Bintan is the Warung Yeah which is at Plaza Lagoi. Plaza Lagoi can be reached with the free shuttle bus, anyhow if you would like to eat there you will miss the bus back to the hotel as you have only 40 minutes until it starts and the next one going back the hotel is too late and there is nothing in that Plaza to do or see. The bungalow was simple, huge enough with high ceilings, but nothing really designed or furnished with any aesthetic sense. The bathroom is incredibly small. Some more light or lamp is missing in the room. We didn't missed at all, but it's a fact that the place has no swimming-pool. The pool at Nirwana is far away and very crowded. The objective value of the accommodation is 50€/day, but it's high more... The biggest negative issue of the place is the TAR (sticky black oil) coming out from the see. You can not walk on the sand or go into the see without collecting a tremendous quantity on your foot. And it doesn't get off from your skin. Terrible!!! Poor Earth...

Mayang Sari is one of the accommodations in Nirvana Garden Resort. Last visit here was a few years ago. Abt a dozen sea view chalets on western side are still being renovated otherwise the other chalets seem well maintained internally. Large space including large luggage storage but small wardrobe. Service staff courteous and can speak English. Didnt see staff speaking other foreign languages. Got a surprise birthday cake from hotel since we tell them that we were 'celebrating' a birthday quietly. Part of the beach seems free of tar from some marine oil slick otherwise beware of tar on the beach n seabed. Daily workers are clearing up any tar that they see on the beach. Larger groups work at more affected beaches in the resorts. Usually have good breeze so quite refreshing to relax in the shade by the beach. Spice Restaurant in Mayang Sari serves breakfast lunch n dinner. Typical Singapore restaurant prices per dish. Lunch n dinner alternatives are other restaurants in Nirvana resorts and Plaza Lagoi. Neydles is new replacement of a Japanese restaurant in Nirvana Gardens Hotel. Free small shuttle bus from Nirvana resorts to Plaza Lagoi according to a schedule. About 25mins by shuttle. Plaza Lagoi area started in 2015 so quite new. Currently there are 3 spas which are cheaper than spas in hotels/resorts. Most provide complimentary transport to and from hotel for a min expenditure like 700000 Rp or more. Several restaurants serving local international n seafood. Some also provide complimentary transport as mentioned earlier. If your group is large then confirm that complimentary transport can take your group since they are using cars.

Rooms -clean -I prefer this than the hotel which is more expensive if family or more than 3 pax. -with private porch -beach front Food -excellent breakfast Beach front -we stayed at their different accommodation and so far this is the best beach front in the resort Activities -tried archery -free bowling -try to take the buggy just to roam around -i heard they have an elephant show -night time we have a buffet dinner and they have some singing and dancing (buffet a bit expensive)

This was a holiday spot worth it. We are right at the beach. Very quiet and serene. White beach clear water just the place for a peace of mind and to rejuvenate. The food is more Chinese there is a nice Asian Indian restaurant hot pot that can go it.
