River Rock Lodge

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

River Rock has a Montana lodge feel - large beams, mounts of animals, antler chandelier. They have a nice continental breakfast and they always have coffee and tea available. There is no bar or dining facilitators. Good central location to Big Sky.

We stayed at the River Rock Lodge for 8 nights in September. From the time we made reservations, I had a good feeling about the lodge. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in every way, answering questions and making recommendations before we got there. While we stayed there, someone was always available to take care of any need we had. The room was comfortable, very clean, quiet and housekeeping did a great job maintaining everything. Breakfasts were plentiful and nicely served with coffee, hot tea and hot apple cider available at any time. On our last morning, we had to leave at 4:30 a.m. and the previous afternoon's staff requested that fresh hot coffee be in the breakfast area for us before we left - and it was! There was a Free Little Library if you needed reading material and local newspapers were always out first thing in the morning. In addition, there were several sitting areas located in the lodge in case you wanted to sit quietly and read. They even had bear spray to loan for hikes into the forest! By the time we left, I felt that some of the staff were more like friends. I can highly recommend this lodge and would stay there again if I was in the area.

Second visit in 20 years. Still a great place. Big Sky has really grown up. River Rock service and atmosphere is the best anywhere.

Nice hotel and staff, quiet around the hotel. I recommend it to everyone.

love the atmosphere of the hotel and it's close to the stores, restaurants etc...

Not a bad place to stay to visit Yellowstone if you cannot stay in the park.

Majestic setting. You wouldn't need more than that, but there are close-by amenities - food, coffee, trails - that make this an even better experience. Quiet, clean, vintage Western decor. And you'll never smell better air.

This hotel was located right in the middle of this quiet little town and very convenient to restaurants and shopping. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. It was a great place to stay in Big Sky.

My wife and I were on the way home from a cross country trip and spent one night in Big Sky. The River Rock Lodge was a very good choice. The accomodations were great and the location in Big Sky was perfect. We wish we could have stayed longer.

This hotel is centrally located to all the daily activities with the Meadow community. You can walk to everything from here. We were in town to visit family and always have a great time. Only wish is that they had a little microwave in the room. Stop by Nina's bakery! Farmers market on Thursdays is fun.

Its quiet and comfortable and has great artwork on the walls. Breakfast is great and the staff helpful and courteous. I only wish they had a computer the guests could use.

We've stayed here several times and have always been pleased by the hotel and the staff. It's the perfect location to be able to walk to all the local restaurants and entertainment. My only wish is they had a little microwave in the rooms, but it's not the end of the world.

I thought this lodge was a very good value located in a great spot. I would rate this higher than 3 stars. Next time I plan a trip to Big Sky I will stay there again .

Nice lodge and room but 10 o'clock check out was a little inconvenient. Also heard music from nearby facility until early hours of the morning.

We really enjoyed the rustic appearence of the whole place. It was very nice

We were visiting family in Big Sky, and had the superb pleasure of staying at the River Rock Lodge. The décor was rustic, as one would expect of Montana, but beautifully appointed. The room was exceptionally clean, the beds very comfortable, bathrobes were among the many amenities in each room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was fabulous! Mountains all around, two villages filled with many shops, services and wonderful dining opportunities. Lots of hiking trails nearby, and many other outdoor activities around the area. There were many families with kids, all ages, who seemed to be enjoying their time here. This is definitely a place to "get away" from everyday chaos. But if you need an urban fix, Bozeman is only 45 minutes from Big Sky via some stunning scenery!

Staff was very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice. They need to upgrade the TV's and increase the cable TV stations
