Great location, near lake
Property is very much like others described. Quaint but needs updating. The bathroom and shower are just not up to standards for the amount of money we paid. I suppose that is why they had no pictures of it. Don't mind the old fashioned fridge, was cool looking and worked fine, but that shower was horrible! Bedding was meh, suggest bringing own sheets and blankets like we did. Carpet and flooring fairly beat up and you won't want to go barefoot. READ the terms in renters contract as they do explain what isn't included. Would stay there again, but only if an updated unit wasn't available!

Come for the view.
Come for the view, and stay for the view. The cabin works. The view rocks. If you're a fisherman, shore access is very challenging (and impossible from the cabin's location) due to high volume of lake weeds -- really around much of the lake these days as the water level as dropped significantly.

An honest review
The cabin is nice, not luxurious by any means but comfy. It is super hot in the day and upstairs is even hotter. Luckily, we spent the majority of time outside... That's where it's at! Great view of the lake. A lot of various wildlife, mainly squirrels ( adorable) any beautiful Blue Jays. Here are a few tips: Stand directly in front of the tv to change channels. Do not touch the tv, it's not mounted on the wall. It's propped onto the top of a sound bar. Bring knives if you need to chop or cut. There is a paring knife and 1 steak knife. If you leave though the day, keep windows open in the summer, it takes a while to cool down. The nights are absolutely gorgeous, which is great with no AC. It is listed that there's no ac, so we weren't surprised by it, just surprised by the day time heat inside. It's rustic as described. The place was clean and the area was quiet, peaceful. ... Just what we wanted. I do think the price was too high for the cabin itself after checking in and seeing it in person and compared to other properties in the area . Sometimes it's hard to tell in photos what a place really looks like. I saw another reviewer state it was a "shack", I did not think so at all. Yes, bedroom downstairs is small, no door with a draw curtain but we didn't mind. The bathroom was decent sized but the shower..... Eek! It's the size of a motorhome. Kitchen was a good size, fabulous 6 burner gas stove and cool retro fridge - not old but retro style. Picnic table seating for dining. There are 2 chairs ( do not recline) and a couch - all very comfortable. Plenty of chairs on the deck along with a glass table and 2 grills. Seriously great view of the lake. If you are planning a summer trip, be prepared to spend your time outdoors during the day. Obviously that's what most people go there for but if you have someone traveling with you that will not be participating outdoors much, they will get hot inside. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and would rent again if the price was lower.

Won't be back
The cabin needs some serious TLC and we’ll look elsewhere next time in Big Bear. Owner did respond to comments about ancient grill and chairs, and those items were replaced but the old, rusty grill was left on the deck. Unsightly. Great view from the deck and dining room table but no access to the water for swimming. Spa was nice but not particularly easy to get in and out. Inside the carpet was threadbare in several places and, frankly, filthy. We didn’t walk barefoot inside and my socks were left black by the time I realized. Wore sandals rest of the time. Small shower was old and beyond rickety and tight for a 6’ man. No drawers in upstairs bedroom. Oven was dirty, probably because it isn’t self-cleaning. No bathmat was provided for a linoleum floor that was very slippery; we used one of their “clean up” towels on the floor. Bar of soap for bathroom sink but no soap dish. Go to Target. And glad we weren’t there in the winter because those windows won’t keep out cold. Good location in terms of the Village. Only one star for property manager because we had no contact. Should be NA option.

Cabin is clean but rustic.
It needs a little maintenance. TheThe grill needs to be replaced and the shower needs some repair but overall a great place to stay. Also the TV is a little strangeto operate. Never could get it to stop talking to us and could not get volume down Could use more directions. We would stay there again.

Neglected property
Outside deck has lots of old dusty cobwebs 2 broken chairs 1 broken table and the bbq has a fist sized hole rusted through the bottom. There were 3 or 4 mismatched cheap working chairs and an old clear top plastic table as well that were usable. Inside the neglect continued with a rocking chair that comes apart when moved, stained, torn and missing flooring and the plastic shower stall has cracks and holes where the showerhead comes out as well as where the grab bars are located. When you open the window at the head of the weirdly short bed downstairs there are old cobwebs right at your head, I'm 5`10" and my feet hung over the edge of the bed if my head wasn't in the spiderwebs. There is no door to provide privacy in the downstairs bedroom and the bed fills up the space with only 1` of room on the sides to be able to sidle in to the bed or you have to crawl up from the foot. Mid afternoon was very hot downstairs and upstairs was a furnace during the day. The view, location, and the hot tub were great. Surrounding properties are all really nice. We will not stay again.

Quaint house …
We enjoyed the “hideaway.” We went in late June. We recommended that they replace the 2 floor fans in the living room. Both were not working, but we will return again. Great view of the lake.
