Mercure Hotel Berlin Zentrum3.0 out of 5.0

older hotel rebranded as Mercure - rooms are on the small side but overall not a bad experience - small bar on the premises and the buffet breakfast is adequate if not very exciting. convenient to public transport
I always book this hotel when I'm in Berlin. It is an a quiet hotel. Breakfast is very complete! The beds are of good quality and the location of the hotel is near the underground stations Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz
The location is perfect if you want to be close to the gay scene. The rooms are nice and clean, but small. Reception staff is friendly and efficient. Two things were disturbing though, hence only a 3 out of 5. Their breakfast room is too small, so there is a daily fight for a table which I did not appreciate. Hence, the headwaiter seems slightly too nervous and shouts at his staff. I found him a bit annoying. Housekeeping was very slow. At weekends I came back at 15:00 or 15:30 once and the room was still not made. That was very annoying.
Great room, Clean hotel and great service. It's located in a quite neighbourhood away from the main road. Lots of nice eating places within walking distance. Perfectly located for the Berlin gay scene might be a bit far from the usual tourist sights if your not familiar with the city.
This mid-scale hotel is in a very convenient part of Berlin, not far from public transport and in the middle of the gay area of Berlin, tho the guests were from all types of society. The rooms are very plain and old fashioned but they are clean and quiet. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast has various price options. The staff in reception are lovely and the restaurant manager is also very helpful and pleasant For the price paid the hotel gives excellent value
This hotel priorities loud barking dogs over paying human beings. Along with paper thin walls you can expect a terrible nights sleep. Don't expect any help from the entitled/rude hotel staff who take no accountability (it's not the hotels dog was their response). Best avoided! Motel one around the corner provides a better product and service!
Room was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. This was a trip for my son to visit historical sites he was interested in. It was booked on behalf of the UK Family Fund (UK charity for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people) via a Travel Agency. I don't think the area is suitable for younger children to stay in as the area is very sexual, but this is something I did not find offensive. One thing if possible for the hotel to supply is a copy of bus/train times and routes as this is something I found very confusing on my 1st trip there.
We stayed three nights Friday to Monday. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We could leave our luggage there until the room was ready at 3pm, and went out to discover we were a five minute walk to KaDeWe, Europe's largest department store! The subway stations were also very convenient. Our room was on the fifth floor and was pleasantly laid out, clean and quiet. Breakfast was very generous, plenty of choice, and the staff were friendly and polite. We felt at home in this hotel and would recommend it for its location beside the shops on Kurfürstendamm, its proximity to underground stations and its good value for money.
Good location and good friendly staff. I really enjoy my time in Berlin but the hotel is a bit old. Great location with good restaurant and shops. The bathroom are just ok and the room are very old fashion. I was aspect something better for a Mercure Hotel. I habe been in a lot of them and this is not my favourite so far unfortunately
Check-in was at 3pm as hotel had been full the night before. Luggage was kept in a storage room, so out I went for a walk and when I returned at 245pm I was able to check-in. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, small bathroom which was also very clean. Complimentary wifi, which was very good. A mini bar and flat screen tv rounded out the room amenities. Very good buffet breakfast was offered in the morning, there was a large variety of foods to choose from. Three complaints I have regarding this hotel. Wooden floors, which are nice but certainly are not warming to the bare feet in the winter. The heat seems to be turned of at night and then turned on again in the morning. Room was quite cold at night. Pipes in bathroom banged off and on. Being an older hotel I can understand that. Luckily I wear ear plugs so the noise was not that noticeable. All in all a decent stay at a decent price.
