The room was not as clean as it should have been, I found hair in the walls and in the shower curtains. The worst problem of all was the bathroom: when you flush the toilet or when you use the sink something like water and other rubbish comes out from the shower!!!! I swear it was disgusting, it smelled terrible!!! I haven’t taken a shower in 3 days, when I changed hotel! The receptionist was friendly.
We were 3 people in the hotel room but got only one key (even though we've asked for more). Naturally, we left the key at the front desk. After a night out, we got back to the hotel and the hotel front door was locked. We knocked on the door for 45 minutes, until someone came to open. 45 minutes, just standing there in the cold. The worst part was that they didn't even apologize, they just screamed (yes, screamed) at us that we should have taken our key with us. Bad service, followed by bad hospitality, never again.
Travelling in a group of three friends I selected this hotel because of it's triple bed rooms, great loction in relation to Berlin's club district and it's also very near a main station where you are able to easily access central Berlin and Schoenfield airport. We were due to arrive late but after a long list of unfortuante events we found out that the local metro station was out of service, we ended up a long distance away from the Hotel. Eventually we arrived at the door after 2am, the sign on the door instructed us to telephone the number on the door. After a couple of minutes a member of staff arrived and opened the door for he was friendly considering we had arrived very late. The room itself was no more and no less what we required. A clean room with three clean beds and a bathroom. The beds were comfortable and allowed us to get good nights sleep on both nights. The is some outside number from the courtyard below it personally didn't hinder our sleep. The hotel does do breakfast but we didn't take advantage of it. This is a good hotel assuming the nearest station (Warschauer Straße) is fully operational, i'd advise checking before booking because having to use replacement buses etc was an inconveniance that we didn't really want to have to endure.
When we checked it I was fine that this supposedly 3 star hotel didn't have a phone in the room or coffee making facilities. I was fine as this was in a convenient location and the hotel seemed clean though worn out. However I started getting bites on a regular basis and since the lighting is pretty poor in the rooms I never saw why or how. I complained to a young boy at the reception who was shocked that I even suggested it. Tonight another night itching and I woke up and put the light at the head rest. I quickly saw the bugs on the bed and on the head rest. We went to the reception but they had no extra room to put us in and I will be spending this night just like this - killing bugs. Have already killed around 6. What surprises me is how the municipality of Berlin or whosoever governs the hygiene conditions here doesn't shut such hotels down!
Good location for night stay. Room is clean and well kept and provided all basic amenities. The bar and games area is wonderful, offered few options in game. Bar is full stoked and serving good cocktails as well. . Reception team is very polite and keen to help for any assistance. Stayed for night as we traveled for business trip.
We checked in for 1 night, and while I was checking the Person at the reception named Andrew, was not speaking very clearly to me. I asked him to please repeat what he said, he then started to be short-tempered, and disregarded my requests. I said he was being quite rude and unfriendly. His only response was "No, your rude!" Honestly couldn't believe I was having to deal with this while checking in. I needed this room, so I stayed. But if I had another Option, I would've left!!! I called the Manager, who didn't even apologize, and all she said was Ok, I'll talk to him. WORST customer service I've ever experienced in a hotel!!!!
I booked this hotel through booking.Com and photos on booking website was very different from my actual room. Instead of normal double room I got twin looking like campus room from the 90'. I asked for hard mattress due to my back problems - they just ignored it. shower curtains had some stains on it and I was really discussing. Guy responsible for breakfast was creepy and keep asking for my room exactly when I was swallowing... They charged me 8euro (instead 7- on their website) for really poor breakfast. I wouldn't stay there again even if they would pay me.
During our walk from the S bahn to the hotel (<200m) I was offered drugs, saw hoardes of drunks sunbaking and a guy cutting bike locks. Some call this area as 'alternate' but it obviously attracts alot of unsavoury types. Behind the hotel about 2 blocks down are nice restaraunts and bars, however the immediate vicinity of the hotel is sketchy with many stumbling in to use the wifi which only works in the foyer. The room was nice and spacious, fan included and we did not have any bad smells like others complained off. Good beds and plenty of pillows. Hotel itself is nice, be wary on your walk to it though.
I sincerly recommend this place located in the heart of party-berlin! Affordable prices, clean rooms and friendly service. Nearby a lot of concerts, events and good places to eat. I've visited Hotel & Hostel Friedrichshain already three times and never get disappointed :)
This hotel is on the edge of a wonderful location in Berlin. That's true. Unfortunately, you have to walk through a TERRIBLE 200m from the S-bahn station to get to it. We witnessed a mugging, walked through a gauntlet of drug dealers and human traffickers, had someone try to grab my purse, and waded through a street fight in front of the hotel to get to it. On one day. In the middle of the day. In addition, our room (108) was awful. While it was clean, the beds were terrible - as soon as you sat down on them, they creaked, moaned, squeaked, and made it impossible for you to move in bed without waking up the person in the other bed. People two rooms away heard the beds squeaking. Also, we were apparently the only room in the hotel with a sign telling us we were not allowed to flush toilet paper. When you flush the toilet, the whole hotel room vibrated with the sound of a pump that we dubbed the bathroom monster. Every time you use the water, the pump would vibrate the whole room. Even in the middle of the night. It was SO loud. So, the only room where you can't flush toilet paper, a monstrous loud vibrating noise every time you use the water, and then toilet water kept bubbling up into the shower. It smelled terrible. So... stay here at your own risk, but make sure that you definitely don't get room 108.
