We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms large , spotless, with every possible amenity. However, even more impressive was the superb service. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything done with a genuine smile. (After one day there, the breakfast waiter already knew what type of coffee each of us liked, and brought them to us without even asking)
We were massively impressed with the warm, sincere, helpful front desk, in particular max who went out of his way to assist daily with any of our needs and Gianna who assisted in a few things prior to our arrival. We couldn’t rate highly enough how helpful and sincere the front desk was. In addition to this, the room was impeccable, high quality and well equipped. The hotel in general is all very highly furnished and the bar and restaurant staff are helpful. Try the spa for a Swedish massage👍🏻 Our only gripe might be the lack of any movies on the tv!
We stayed here for 1 week. Amazing hospitality, prompt and friendly staff and lovely large room which was extremely quiet. Neighborhood is residential, a few blocks from the train and great nearby ethnic restaurants. When we left to head to our next stop on our vacation, the front desk manager Max sent us a follow up email making sure we had arrived safely by train. We loved the hotel and would highly recommend. Staff also had great tips for restaurants, how to use trains, etc. Just one of the best hotel experiences we have every had.
Stayed at this hotel this weekend & we took 18 couples as a work trip & the hotel was amazing. Very beautiful & spotlessly clean rooms were a great size with extremely comfortable beds. Bathrooms were very stylish too with the best wet room shower I have ever had in a hotel. All of the staff were very friendly & helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it was very close to plenty of shops, bars & restaurants
We traveled with 2 adult daughters and loved the hotel. It is beautifully renovated and our room was spacious and enough room to unpack. We were upgraded to a larger room. Location is in a residential neighborhood and lovely neighborhood cafes. It was a bit far from the mail attractions but easy to travel to. We loved returning to our quiet neighborhood at the end of the day. The front desk staff was extremely professional and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to make suggestions and reservations etc. Highly recommend this hotel.
This is my second visit to the hotel, and is now my regular place for my travels to Berlin. This place is great! Friendly, helpful staff, bend over backwards to accommodate me and my team staying here. We had to leave for the airport early, and they went so far as to let us into the restaurant for breakfast early. Room is large and clean. Dinner at the restaurant was world class, amazing food. My only 'ask' would be for more beers to be available on draft in the bar!
Located in a quiet part of the West Berlin. Just ten minutes walk to Ku-Damm. Excellent staff. Spacious rooms. Very good bar with great cocktails list. Small but very cosy SPA on the upper floor. So, perfect romantic week-end.
When booking two rooms for a 4 night stay at the hotel on the Marriott website, I was quoted a price, in big print, for €149 per night, per room. Not bad. Except when I am checking out, the price is now €1362, or €170/night, resulting in a difference of more than $200 for the stay. Part of the difference was due to room tax..., OK, sometimes it's not listed. But mostly the issue was the €149 was for the first night, which jumped up to €195 for the last night. Marriott representatives say "yeah, it's misleading." It's also dishonest.
I do no longer recommend this hotel. It has really gone downhill since the last time I stayed. I mean mostly the rooms and the breakfast. (Sadly, service wasn't as great either) It was unusually warm last Spring in Berlin and I needed the AC in my room but it did not work. Nothing was offered other than a bottle of water. I was later changed to another room with a functioning AC. This was unacceptable. It seemed a lot more like a Marriott points hotel than a little boutique gem in Charlottenburg. Oh well, good thing is that Berlin has many other wonderful hotels!
Our family stayed at the Hotel am Steinplatz for 5 nights at the beginning of January. Our travel agent said it is her favorite boutique hotel in Berlin and it is now our favorite. Our family enjoys traveling together (we are a family of 5) and we look for a number of things when we book a hotel. First, we want a sense of place. We want to walk out the door and know that we are somewhere new and different. We want a hotel near small restaurants, shops and coffee spots. The neighborhood surrounding the Hotel am Steinplatz was perfect. We went to one restaurant where the owner’s grown children waited on us because we spoke neither Italian nor German. They asked us how we found their restaurant. When we told them we were staying nearby at the Hotel am Steinplatz. They didn’t know where it was. Maybe this really is a hidden gem. What wasn’t within walking distance, we traveled to by subway. The hotel is also very close to a central subway station. We took it everywhere and felt like one of the locals. The second thing we look for is a comfortable place to congregate—not in one of our rooms. The bar at the Hotel am Steinblatz is the place we went. The bar, like the rest of the hotel had a very sophisticated and intimate feel. It wasn’t crowded, so we could share our impressions of the day while eating bar snacks and drinking very creative cocktails. Most of the time, we just told the bartender what kind of drinks we liked and let him make suggestions. We had so much faith in him that we rarely ordered the same thing twice. We even spent some time talking with the bartender about his travels and recommending some places in San Francisco to get a great drink. Finally, if we are staying more than just a couple of days, we want it to feel like home. When you walk in the front door, the front desk is immediately to your left. The staff always greeted us with a warm “hello”. Our room had large windows that faced an apartment building across the street. We loved looking into the apartments and watching the families celebrate New Year’s Eve while we got ready for our anniversary dinner. At night, we opened the window so we could have some fresh air. While we heard some fireworks on December 31st, the rest of the nights we were there, the streets were quiet. The property is beautiful—really chic with digital artwork showing Berlin in the 20s. But it’s the service that makes this hotel stand out. I am a demanding traveler. In fact, I first contacted the hotel in August for a December stay. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary on New Year’s Eve and we wanted to find just the right place. I spoke with Lara, the guest relations supervisor, and she gave us a list of 7 restaurants and booked our reservation. She also suggested several clubs and other New Year’s events for our children. One of our children was not quite 18, which presented other complications, so Lara gave us additional suggestions. We sought her out many times while we stayed there, asking for restaurant suggestions, shopping, bars, public transportation. We felt like she took a personal interest in having us enjoy the city she lives in.
