We recently had a night here on our trip around UK. A bonus with car parking at a small cost but we could leave the car until mid afternoon after checking out. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us a map and walking route to the castle. This took about 15 minutes. Breakfast was fine and we enjoyed it. There are lots of nearby restaurants for dinner if needed. the room was fine and we had our son with us. Good bathroom and shower and tea and coffee making available. Comfortable beds, although a double not a queen.
My friend called the day before to check that we could leave the car during the day before staying as we walking a section of the Thames Path and at no time were we told of a charge or when we booked . So very surprised to be told we had to pay £13 a day ! We then asked for directions to the train station and the reception staff had no idea. I asked to look on a map and she said “I think the castle is somewhere near it”, but then couldn’t find the castle ! When we returned and checked into our room, we were relieved that the room and bathroom were both clean and adequate, but a lot of noise from the Police station next door (which our room overlooked). After a long day walking we decided to eat in the restaurant which was a big mistake ! The menu was very limited but the meals we had were cooked very badly. Our chips were partly uncooked and my fish was wet ( which I’m not sure how they managed that !) Breakfast the following morning didn’t start well with dirty bowls , so we took the safe option and just had toast ! On leaving we asked reception if they could kindly fill our water bottles up, as we had another long days walk ahead. This they did but with Luke warm water ! Windsor attracts many overseas visitors, how sad if they left thinking all our hotels offer this level of service . Come on Holiday Inn Express get your act together !
We spent four nights at the Holiday Inn arriving on Sunday afternoon to a very friendly welcome from the receptionist. Our room was clean and well equipped with all the basic stuff including tea and coffee making facilities. We had the last space in the rather tight underground car park but this eased during the week. We had three evening meals in the hotel. The menu was limited but we had no complaints about the quality of the food. The location was good, convenient for the castle and the river. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The staff, without exception, were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and they were polite and approachable. We would happily use the hotel again.
Staying for just one night this hotel was clean with a modern bathroom no bath but with walk in shower. A basic no frills hotel but adequate for a night's stay. Bit of noise from the room above. Seemed to be children running up and down until very late. Comfortable pillows but the matresses have definitely seen better days (or nights). Breakfast was help yourself buffet. Hot dishes were bacon, scrambled egg, beans and sausages, good but perhaps best give the sausages a miss.
Lovely clean room, good breakfast, but most importantly brilliant friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again it’s walking distance to Windsor castle and shops restaurants etc.we was allowed to check in earlier than stipulated. Great hotel
Great value. Good service, good food, good parking, good location for exploring Windsor. A quiet position about 15 minutes walk to the Castle and river. If visiting would recommend staying here, especially if you check out their web site for ‘deals’ . We found staying overnight on Sunday B&B was the best for us. The buffet, self service breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and a good selection of cereals and fruit.
Chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Express due to price and knowing it is a decent property to stay at. Arrived to a very friendly welcome from Reception and were allocated a 3rd floor room overlooking the police station (at least we know we will be safe tonight!). Called down to Reception as needed an iron and ironing board - Reception extremely helpful in bringing to the room along with an additional bath towel as this was missing from the room. The room was very clean, bathroom excellent and fabulous shower - powerful and hot! Good about these rooms is the windows can be left ajar safely to allow fresh air. Slept well and in the morning had the buffet breakfast which is the usual Holiday Inn fare - but is hot and plentiful. Would definitely return!
If your looking for a good quality hotel then the IHG Holiday Inn Express is a good choice, and only a short walk from the centre of Windsor. Customer service is helpful when onsite, welcomed us as a loyal customer of the hotel group, which we are! Service wise , it's a little below par if you call a head and leave instructions for a package delivery, but they are prompt at calling and checking directly if unsure, which is heartening. Good quality breakfast for a hotel of this type, the only negative for us was our accommodation was noticeably smaller compared to previous stays at this hotel, considering we booked via the IHG hotel members portal and greeted as loyal customers. As an aside, I am staying in an other IHG hotel as I write this comment and the standard is very good!
Hotel was only 20 mins walk in to winsor to see the castle, plenty of shops and places to eat , went on boat trip down the river at winsor very relaxing. Grandchildren enjoyed feeding the swans and ducks the shop near by sold food for the bird at only 1pound for two bags, we went to legoland got a taxi from hotel only 8pound set rate from hotel took about 30mins. Most enjoyable day got there at 9-30 and left at 6-00 when park closed ,would highly recommend it. Hotel was clean beds not very comfortable, breakfast was okay buffet service scrambled eggs sausages beans, cereal fruit tea coffee fruit juice, also had bags to go which was good because you could take fruit and muffins which was good for snacks for children.
10 min. Walk from city center. Close to the castle and 10 min drive from Legoland. A couple blocks from a decent sized co-op too. Parking garage at the hotel for £13 a night. Free breakfast as well. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly, so overall it was a good stay and I would stay there again.
