Great stay .. good breakfast pool and bar on the top floor.. was able to get a late check out at no extra charge. The maid remembered i like late cleaning of the room and fresh ice.. I had it everyday with out asking. Keep in mind the room and decor is outdated but clean.
A lovely, old hotel with every modernity required to spend a great time. A pool at the top, with a view of the city, with a bar attached. Breakfast was very, very good! Service was impeccable. Waiters and front desk personnel are always smiling and take care of your needs in a moment. A pleasant stay indeed.
We had a very spacious upgraded suite on floor 20 with a magnificent view over the city. The hotel has a pool and restaurant on top and a large breakfast lounge at the third floor with an outside terrace. The people at the reception were very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was great with everything you could possibly wish. The only negative thing was the staff at the top restaurant: they were incredibly slow.
Recently stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and we are very happy with everything. Great location, wonderful views of the city from rooftop and the Municipal Park from our room on the 20th floor. Beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious. Breakfast was very good, excellent coffee and the staff there were friendly and helpful. In particular Valdenice and Stephanie were very attentive and cheerful. I agree that Bacon is missing as an option which would be nice, but the juices and fruit and breads were fresh and good. Would recommend this hotel for it's location and comfort and welcoming staff. Looking forward to the next visit.
The hotel is very centrally located in the heart of Belo Horizonte opposite the large and interesting municipal park which also holds a large street market on Sundays. I stayed in an executive room on the 21st. floor which gave me a great view of the park with it's lakes and fountains. The room offered a large sleeping area with a big bed and a flat screen television and a lounge area with a sofa and arm chair but as this area was not well lit it was not of much use. There was a minibar which was well stocked. The bathroom was spacious and featured a bath with shower over. The water pressure was excellent. Breakfast is served on the 3rd. floor and offered an extensive buffet which included porridge and scrambled eggs and sausages. On the 25th. floor is the swimming pool and restaurant which offers stunning views over the city to the nearby hills. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I was amazed that my pork fillets came with pork scratchings...delicious!
I upgraded to a Super Deluxe room when I saw I realized that it was not Super or Deluxe! Mold in bathroom, bathroom tiles broken and loose, taps dripping constantly, torn and worn bed clothes, dirty carpet (see pictures). When I complained to front desk they were unresponsive! Asked for Manager was told that he not present and front desk manager did not speak English! Thus not a Super Deluxe room or Hotel!
Although location is ok, the installations are old (light in the bathroom didn't work). Very noisy surrounding which made sleeping time almost impossible. Bad election for a business trip. The personal is nice and collaborative.
Really a bad Hotel, bad Location, bad rooms, bad and too expensive Restaurant, bad drinks, Pool only open until 7 pm then this is part of the restaurant area and of the really poor Bar. The Windows makes notices the whole night. Dirty, Dirty, Dirty.
I lived in Belo Horizonte for about 12 1/2 years. Since I left the city this was my third staying at Belo Horizonte Othon Palace Hotel. The hotel is an old hotel but it has a ver good accommodations and internet, excellent breakfast gourmet, great rates and the best view of the Municipal park and part of the city.
We stayed in this hotel twice in a week, before and after a short trip to Ouro Preto. As others mentioned, the view is fantastic. Location is good as you can walk to most of the tourist attractions (but you can also do that from Saavasi which is better at night in my opinion). The rooms are a big but a bit of a touch and go situation: we were assigned one room which looked horrible (e.g. stained carpets, etc), moved on request to another which looked better but had problems with the air conditioner, the safe and the window, before getting a better room (2402). The same happened when we came back from Ouro Preto but eventually we settled into a fine room (2409). The hotel itself could be greatly improved with a coat of fresh paint and a good clean up -or replacement- of all the carpets. I don't think this has been done since the hotel was built. Staff in general are attentive but some need better customer service training (e.g. Ms Sara).
