Banana Beach Resort

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Banana Beach Hotel is located on the south end of the island, very close to the dive shop Belize Pro Divers, which is excellent. If you are diving, this dive shop will pick you up on the dock at the hotel and it is a short boat ride to the reefs. As far as Belize prices, this hotel is moderately priced. Staff is friendly. The veranda balcony rooms are of okay size, but if there are 2 people in the room, there is not enough storage space. The rod for hanging clothes is about 24 inches long, there are 3 small drawers to put clothes in. I stayed by myself, so it was manageable, but with 2 people, there is not any room to put clothes/suitcases away. Some rooms have a king bed with a twin bed. My friends used the twin bed to put clothes on. There is no place to put suitcases. The ocean front suites are spacious with a beautiful view.

We had the best experience and vacation! Can't wait to go back

Friendly staff. Able to walk to town in 20min on beach. Lots of golf carts. Breakfast included was minimal. Snorkeling was the best. Took an airplane to the mainland to see ruins, zoo, and tube thru caves. A rainfall prevented the tube trip. Dinner at the hotel was good, great daily drink specials. Don't bother going to Secret Beach... nothing to see.

We stayed at Banana Beach for 7 days and it was great. The staff was amazing and helped with all of our needs. Ruby at Monkey a business was wonderful as well and we were able to book some day trips to the mainland and rent our cart from her! The room was decent enough (we didn't really spend time there). The breakfast was great and there is a manager onsite which was nice as well. The location was perfect for our needs and everyone made our trip amazing with their wonderful smiles and welcoming attitudes!

Our suite consisted of a living room with futon which could be made into a bed and a bedroom. Everything worked good for us. We rented a golf cart because the hotel is pretty far from the town. A bicycle would also be a good way to get into town however there are lots of little restaurants round the area also.

Hotel needed major improvement, desperately needs face lift. Restaurant staff and bar was awesome, El Divino's food was really good.....

We didn't realize that we needed to take a flight from the airport in Belize to the hotel, as it is on an island (ambergris Caye). It was a quiet hotel, very comfortable. The beach was very shallow. Rooms were very spacious. very relaxing stay. Snorkeling tour with the sharks was fabulous. Zoo was a great trip too, as well as the ruin. We fell in to this place and don't know if we would do it again because there was a lot of flying involved. However, I am so glad I had the experience in La Isla Bonita.

This hotel was outstandsing in every way.. I will stay here next time I go to Belize. This hotel has an excellent resturant with great food and reasonable prices.Everyone on staff was very kind and helpful at all times. I was pleased to fin d such a great place to stay at such inexpensive prices.Beautiful beach and great pools. I give Banana Beech resort my excellent recommendation for a place to stay in San Pedro, Belize.

Staff was great. The hotel pays for the transfer to/from the airport. We were on the first floor. All rooms surround the interior pool. The room is split into three parts: living/dining/kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. The A/C unit is in the bedroom area and doesn't cool off the entire space. The beds were hard as rocks. You could feel each and every spring and it made horrible noises anytime one of us moved. The bathroom had a horrible odor that never went away after three days. It also had a huge ant problem. The pool was pretty cold and the hot tub was just as cold as the pool. It is on the beach but the south end of the island. There is a fantastic bakery right up the road. The food at the restaurant is overpriced like most resorts. Search around for the best golf cart deals. You will find some for far less outside of the hotel. Apparently breakfast was supposed to be included in our reservation but we never received the coupons and the front desk wouldn't honor it which is why we found the bakery up the road. Its a great hotel if you want to do nothing. There is not much near it so just be prepared.

Perfect spot about 1 mile away from town. Easy to reach and easy to escape. Staff incredibly friendly & accommodating. Rooms spotless. Daily maid service crisp & efficient. My only gripe was the limited wifi. At first I thought this might be an island issue but had better success in town at several coffee shops. And the hotel had a good desktop for guests. Great trip. Thanks again.

Loved the ceramic tiles floors. Great for aching feet. Room kept superbly clean. Location convenient to beach, pool & town. Staff very friendly & accommodating. Will return soon.

The hotel was at the southern end of the busy part of town making it a little quieter which was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room pleasant, lots of plants - overall a very nice place, not overly done. There is no beach (small beaches next door) but plenty of lounge chairs by the water. It's a short walk to a great little food stand, Robins, and a longer walk into the main part of town along the road or by beach.

The hotel staff was SUPERB, could not ask for nicer customer service! Marlon was an INCREDIBLE Bartender who ALWAYS had a charming smile on his face!! The plants & flowers surrounding the property and pool make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The 2 pools were Perfect and lovely to swim in. Overall, the hotel is REALLY CLEAN, Room was HUGE with a Kitchen, eat in dining room, Living room, double doors overlooking pool, small balcony in bedroom overlooking tropical courtyard. Can't say enough about the FRIENDLY staff!! The hotel is small so making friends quickly is easy :) Take In Stride when staying at this hotel: * No hot water in shower. I know San Pedro is a barrier island - I have been there many times before but have always been able to take a hot shower- not the case for Room B223 *Bed was hard and uncomfortable * Continually had to ask for face cloth and hand towels - should have been readily supplied with the 2 towels left in the room daily * The beach was not raked and quite dirty at times. *The plastic beach chaises were dirty and often fell apart if you tried to adjust *Location was on South end of town. Getting a taxi was often delayed and difficult to obtain If you are looking for value, economy, huge CLEAN room, walking distance from town 10-15 min and the BEST Bartender then I would recommend this resort!!

I found the hotel adequate for my needs , had wi fi but not in the rooms which was a bit inconvenient. Nice friendly staff , and nice relaxing lounge bar in the evening .

Had a great experience in San Pedro. The hotel staff was very nice and quick to accommodate your needs. The best snorkelling we have ever done! There are lots of activities and also a great place to just lay back and relax. No fighting crowds of people! If we were to go again, we would stay closer to town as we were about a mile out of town so it was a bit of a walk back and forth. It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle bus to go back and forth into town. Taxis and golf carts are readily available though. The local people are very friendly. Thank you Belize!

Good service overall! Friendly check in and advice about resort and surrounding area. Great service in the bar and restaurant (when large groups didn't take up their time) and some of the coldest ICE cold Belikin beer ever. Restaurant had very good burgers (look at their size), fish & chips, salads, salsa, etc. Nice pool and beach overlook with palms and their breezeway caught all those nice breezes with total shade (great for those of fair skin!). This place had parking available across the street for those necesary golf carts used to get around the island (what a blast!), most other places were really crammed if at all available. Room was more than adequate with ceiling fans, A/C, and a kitchen. Great overlook of the courtyard pool. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Great location on the beach. Perfect sunrise view from oceanfront room. Restaurant menu had limited options for vegetarians. Tour options were more expensive than alternatives available in town.

reminded me of a very old in need of upgrades Motel 6 by the way before I go viral with the fact that you booked us on a connecting flight from Houston to Belize and we had to spend the night in Houston and fly out the next morning to belize what if any do you have to say in your defense

I have been to the Banana Beach twice...it's simple, clean, and very pleasant. I love the restaurant. The travel shop makes planning activities a breeze.

I would prefer to have a private beach where I can swim directly from the pool, there is no place, I have to walk to another sites to swim in the beach. The sofa bed is awfull, everything else was wonderfull
