Although I contacted Jose months in advance to inform him of my arrival time and get info about the keys, he didn't even acknowledge my emails. In the end, I had to contact the insurance Helpline, and they had to send him a deadline and cut off time. Right before the insurance was to cancel my reservation, Jose contacted me saying that he had double booked. He wanted to house me elsewhere for the first night. When I asked for a taxi to get to and from the new place (I had booked his place close to the train station), he suddenly said I could have the apartment as we had arranged.
The apartment itself is really very nice-- beautiful, very spacious, and with large windows. But a few details would have improved it! The only fan (during a heatwave) could only be placed at an angle so that it was neither in the window, nor pointing towards me when I slept. Also, the towels provided were extremely old and grimy, and the tiles on the floor of the shower were not clean.
The worst thing was the entryway. NO LOCK on the door (someone did actually come wanting to get in about the "Internet"), and it looked like a disaster had happened -- the 3 mailboxes had been pryed open, and it was all very dirty. Same with the stairway and the hallway. Truthfully, I felt extremely discouraged and even fearful when I saw all of that!
The apartment is worth it if you bring your own towels, and maybe something to make sure the door stays locked! It is within walking distance of the train station!
