Crowne Plaza is conveniently located in Hamra, a section of Beirut, and is within short walking distance to the American University of Beirut (which mattered to me since I was visiting a nephew who is studying there). Hamra is a loud, congested section in Beirut but I loved how alive it felt...and we were walking distance to a couple of excellent restaurants (Ta Marbouta and Barbar),as well as a fantastic coffee shop, Younes. The hotel is well-kept and the staff are very attentive (all that I met spoke English; important to me since I speak neither Arabic or French). There is a great coffee shop in the lobby, a swimming pool, and access to the big fitness club next door (with a variety of exercise classes and yoga, also delivered in English). The biggest downside to me was that I requested a non-smoking room, and due to a run on non-smoking rooms, I was put in a smoking room on a smoking floor. Given how much people seem to smoke in Beirut, this was challenging...every night you could smell the smoke wafting through the vents. The hotel manager handled the situation most graciously and compensated me with points to my IHG account. This hotel is one of the more expensive in Hamra, and even then it is still far less than the hotels in the Central District (luxury hotels and shopping). I would stay at the Crowne Plaza again but I’d have to have a promise on the non-smoking room.
Very good location but needs little renovation from inside. Especially toilets. The staff were good except I had an issue with the check out process were the guy on the desk was not helpful, maybe he knew I am leaving already!
I stayed here for three nights for work. Location is very convenient as its located in the center. The hotel is so humble , they got an external gym which is a very good gym. Food is so average don't expect much from the hotel if ur stay is for business. For leisure u can find better ones.
This hotel is located in a very central location within walking distance to the sea. Rooms are large and beds comfortable. The bathroom in my room needs refreshing. Wifi is excellent. Breakfast buffet delicious, multicultural and plentiful including fresh omelets. Had one evening meal. Dinner restaurant small and shares the space with the swimming pool. Food average. The saving grace of this hotel is the lovely staff. They went well beyond my expectations to make my stay a positive experience. I would stay there again.
The location is simply perfect in center of hamra and staff are simply incredible and so dedicated and helpful though some renovation needed for showers and some other bit in total compared to price and all the hotel is very good if u r in beirut it’s on perfect place and having most needs
I have been in this hotel for the second time, the location is fantastic, in the middle of Hamra Street, plenty of cafes and shops next to it. good value for money . A special thanks to Charles that made all possible to make it a great stay. I would suggest to the management to have a toilet brush in the bathroom for guests use, I could not find one.
(1) very late service (2) staff provides incorrect information specially when we asked about the beauty salon opening hours they inform us that they're closed while they're open (3) very poor hospitality level (4) very ugly experience at the buffet breakfast specially the way of communication between employees (5) terrace tables are always unattended and never clean
