We visited the Rhett House in the middle of a winter storm. A built in electric fireplace kept us warm and cosy. We had delicious breakfasts, wine and cheese at 5, and great desserts at 7. I have never stayed at a place that provided such an array of homemade desserts. We had raspberry cake, pecan pie, lemon pie, pecan something, and the most delicious coffee to accompany the desserts. We met many nice people, the staff was wonderful, and our visit was perfect. Our room was in the cottage. It was tastefully decorated with every amenity. I would highly recommend the Rhett House to Beaufort tourists. My sister left her IPad behind and the staff found it and are FedXing it to her ASAP. We are so grateful.
My husband and I decided to visit Beaufort during Christmas and stay at The Rhett House Inn. We arrived on Christmas Day and while all the stores in town were closed, the Inn had a list of area restaurants that would be open for dinner. We found a great Italian place not far from there. The Inn itself was very accommodating and we enjoyed a spacious King room with its own private entrance and screened porch. If it wasn’t so chilly the porch would have been enjoyed with a bottle of wine. The breakfast each morning was delicious and you should’t miss out on the southern biscuits and cheese grits! The desserts each night were OK but nothing to write home about. I would recommend the Inn during warmer weather when outdoor activities and exploring the area could be enjoyed.
We stayed for two nights over Christmas. It was our second stay at the Rhett Inn. We love Beaufort and enjoyed our holiday. The special Christmas Eve buffet was simple but excellent (best stuffing ever!) Beaufort was very quiet and we drove to Charleston to find a nice restaurant for Christmas dinner. We traveled with our dogs and stayed in their pet friendly room with a screened in porch, it was too cool out to utilize it but it would work out beautifully in warmer weather. The breakfast dining was excellent and special requests were greeted with a smile and a Merry Christmas! Our only problem was that the heat is run centrally with no ability to adjust in the room, our room did not have a fireplace. First night temp outside was warm and thermostat was set at 72, cool but ok. The second night the temperature outside dropped... a lot... the heat had been turned down to 70, with a slab floor it was cold...the blanket provided was cotton & of light summer weight, I was uncomfortable, even with sweats on. I mentioned it the next morning and response was yes 70 is too cold 🤨. Next visit we will double check the room temperature setting earlier in the evening(s).
My husband and I had an awesome stay. The Inn itself is a wonderful, historic place. We loved reading about the history of it and looking at the pictures on the wall. And of course, you cannot beat the location: practically across the street from the bay. The service was wonderful - from the room service to the morning breakfast to the evening desserts. I especially loved that they have bikes available to borrow: it really made our visit to downtown Beaufort great.
We were overdue for a week's decompression. Relaxing walks, slow eats, comfy chairs/bed/blankets. Rhett House met those requirements. The history of the inn is wonderful and adds to the ambiance set. Beaufort's history and architecture are rich. RHI is one on the list. We've stayed at RHI several times over the years. Over time, there have cropped up some updates & necessary rehabs needed for the place. I believe the inn keepers will step up. After all, we have many more trips to make to your fair isle! Given the age of the inn & buildings we totally appreciate the quirks. (Our own home is 1847.) Thank the staff for service, smiles and answers to questions all.
Recently we stayed at the Rhett House Inn, in need of 2 beds we were placed in the basement, 14 steep stairs down, sound of foot steps above, led us to a large room with a fireplace for show, no heat, air condition/heat unit, old with one speed - fast. Few lamps mostly unplugged, required moving furniture & crowing under tables to connect.Bathroom door: hinges squeaked, sink partly plugged, slow to drain, toilet pipes whistled when flushed, bathtub slippery, all in desperate need of repair &update. Emily's phone recommended as a contact for complains, was not in service
Staying in the old homes, now B&Bs one must expect a few quirks, like squeaky wood floors or bathrooms adapted to rooms. Our room # 2 is on the second floor of the main house and has a door out onto the porch wrapping around the front. The windows faced to the back and side. The bathroom was well equipped with sizable towels - important to us. On a night when temps dropped to low 40s and neglecting to switch on the space heater, it was nippy in the morning. We'd choose this room again. Breakfast was good, reasonable choices, a bit short on the fresh fruits and lacked a bit of flare often found in such special B&Bs. Nothing like drinking a bottle of Champagne seated on the front porch when the sun sets and a glimpse of a world long past. Well, as long as you were not the slave help.
This is a great historic home with similarly great access to downtown and the waterfront. The breakfasts were fantastic and cooked to order. The public areas were very comfortable. They set out drinks, cookies, and cheese plates throughout the day. There was a dessert bar every evening between 7-9 pm. Because we stayed over the Thanksgiving Holiday- they provided a home-cooked meal for a reasonable additional charge. As good as the physical plant was, the main selling point was the hospitality, from manager, to desk personnel, to custodial staff. I especially enjoyed talking to our room attendant, Deborah... what a GREAT ambassador for this facility. My wife injured herself while touring in Charleston and Deborah was especially accommodating to her special requirements. We will definitely be back- for business and pleasure. One last note- leave your computer at home unless the Rhett House WIFI improves a bit- or hang out at the "Common Grounds" Coffee Shop (near the waterfront) to access the NET.
My wife and I visited a few weeks ago. The location is great and has a view of the water from the front porch. The accommodations are beautiful and very clean. The breakfast is absolutely awesome (best ever grits and incredible bacon). The "icing on the cake" was the fabulous pecan pie for the evening snack. Very friendly...we especially enjoyed interacting with the chef and the kitchen staff.
At the RHETT HOUSE - it's all about the staff! Can't say enough about our visit. We spent three nights and every single person treated us like family. They couldn't do enough for us. The Breakfast was incredible every day and the dining room is intimate. The Rhett House is close to everything in Beaufort. We were able to walk to restaurants, the park, the marina, downtown. The Inn is beautiful and we were lucky to meet the owners while we were there. Our room was comfortable and anything we wanted was a simple ask. Want to be treated like the most important person in Beaufort? Stay at The Rhett House.
