Traveled with her teenage daughter. The hotel was chosen because of the location The hotel is clean. A spacious room. Unfortunately uncontrolled air conditioning. Good breakfast. Responsive staff. Very convenient location. City center.
Stayed here for 3 nights, very basic room but clean, comfortable and was reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and accommodating. It is in a good location for the 'hop on hop off ' bus route. Would stay here again and have no problem recomending this hotel if you are looking for a city break.
Our room at Ónix Fira was about as austere is it gets in a hotel, with just the basic necessities. The beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and fairly large. The highlight of the Ónix Fira is its location, a short walk from the Plaza Espanya and the Arena shopping mall. It's central location in Barcelona allowed us to meet friends, explore, eat and shop all without a car. The television had a good variety of channels, including several English-speaking news stations. The hotel is a block away from several transit bus routes, and is a manageable walk from Barcelona Sants train station. For a modern shopping experience with a variety of restaurants, check out the Arena, a converted bullfighting venue, a block away.
Stayed here from 10th June for 5 nights with my husband. Arrived at Sants Barcelona railway station - took 10-15 minutes walking with cabin size suitcases during day time heat. Augustine on reception was very amusing and made my husband and me very welcome. We arrived at 8.15 p.m. and he advised us that we had arrived in time for the last night of "Font Magica" which he said was from 9.00. He gave us a map with the hotel and all the sight seeing districts plus where to find the fountain which was within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. The fountain show lasted from 9.30 to 10.30 the night we arrived. All staff were very helpful during the week with advice and maps. They could have sold us tickets for attractions if needed but in the end we did not take that up. Room was a good size with a comfortable bed, had a good nights sleep most nights - similar to sleep pattern at home. Air conditioning was easy to control, I could hear the fan but got to sleep quickly so not too disturbing. Bathroom with shower was good with toiletries and a hairdryer. Breakfast was good, choices of juices and water, big bowls of fresh fruit (including huge tomatoes), cereals, different meats and cheeses, hot food which included scrambled egg, Spanish omelette or frittata and small sausages, bread and toaster. A small fridge contained yoghurts. Whole, semi-skimmed and Soya Milk were on offer. Breakfast was 7.00 to 11.00 - good when needing to leave early on morning of departure. There was a safe in the wardrobe. PC's could be used on the first ('A' in lift) floor. Free Wi-Fi available. View from room was satisfactory, we could see the park to the right although we had offices directly across the road. We were on the 4th floor (Room 405) which helped. Very close to metro at Placa d'Espanya. Metro tickets could be bought for 9.95 Euros for a 10 journey trip each or for 5 journeys when using the same ticket through the barriers. No ticket is needed when leaving the stations. Metro was easy to follow and end destinations were shown and route was clearly marked to lead you to the correct platform. Lots of good restaurants around and shopping centre.
Great place if all you want to do is have a decent, reasonably priced hotel room and spend all day sightseeing around Barcelona. Convenient location for the Metro and airport transfer. Highly recommended.
V easy to get to from airport (buy a T10 ticket and trip costs 1 euro) and great central location. Easy metro access to rest of Barcelona. Breakfast was good and regularly topped up of croissants etc. Sadly no tea/coffee facilities in the room and our room overlooked a brick wall so dark but very clean. Pool was tiny but nice on the roof terrace. No atmosphere downstairs as no bar/lounge area and would have been nice to be able buy a drink/cup of tea and sit downstairs in evening. Staff friendly.
Just across the road to the Arenas shopping mall that mean we can buy food and beverage for stocked in the room (don't forget to bring an electric kettle to boil water, Drinking water 6L was 0.53euro in supermercat ). 15 minute walk from Barcelona Sant. Walk to enjoy the fountain show in a minute. Anyway, keep checking distance from the attractions when on the match day because we had found the problem with Metro but luckily we can walk from Camp Nou back to the hotel.
We had a quiet twin room on the 5th floor and really enjoyed easy access to sun beds on the roof. Having read other TA reports we did not expect to actually swim in the little pool, but it was a nice feature. The big plus with this hotel is it's easy access to all the places to visit. Walking to restaurants is easy and the Metro perfect for getting to the port or city centre. The airport shuttle bus worked perfectly for us, as did the delightful cafe on the corner for a delicious relaxed breakfast.
We enjoyed a few nights in this nice hotel located in between many restaurants and a shopping centre. The shopping centre has a great restaurants downstairs and lots of shops on two levels, which is handy. The magical fountains are a walking distance away. If you book directly with the hotel via their website you get free parking, which is crucial in the city if you rent/have a car. The rooms were basic, but overall clean and had everything we needed. The wifi worked well. Breakfasts were lovely. We always enjoyed the variety of choice.
Stayed here for 3 nights, certainly clean enough. Regret due to working late most nights we did not get a chance to try Breakfast, although I did note it was a meagre 4 Euros per head! Like most Spanish Hotels there are not Coffee Making facilities in the room, however at least 2 places on most Spanish Streets do serve for very little money so just need adjust if this is not what you are used to. The Room was quite spacious and a large Bath / Shower Room. The Air Conditioning worked well and needed to as the Windows were not operable, probably in part to the insects outside and the Huge number of Pigeons in the vicinity. All the staff were friendly however rarely used them. We are out of season, however the outdoor Swimming Pool is more like a large bath, it would suffice to cool down, Swimming is a no though!!
