We stayed here for 4 nights in late September of this year (2019) during our honeymoon and me and my husband were both so so happy with this place! The hotel is beautiful, the views are stunning, the grounds are so magical and there are some really nice walks/hikes you can go on (bring some bug spray there is the occasional mosquito in the early evening). The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. But I think the thing that stood out was the attention to detail; turn down service left you a bottle of water on your nightstand every night, housekeeping was like ninjas waiting until the minute you left the room to tidy in the morning, everyone bent The only let down was the restaurant by the pool it’s overpriced and the food wasn’t anything special but, but Le Torre was great definitely go there if you can. Really can’t say enough great things about this place.

A beautiful hotel with stunning Tuscan views. Picture postcard perfect. The whole hotel has been tastefully done. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff are without exception welcoming, super helpful and friendly. Particular mention to the Concierge who is a fount of knowledge and ideas. Overall service is hard to beat. The food is varied, interesting and tasty. Great wine list with an excellent Sommelier. Very good breakfast. Nice tennis courts and a really good long pool for those that like to do their lengths. The spa and the gym are top notch. My wife loved her massage. The location could not be better equidistant between Florence and Sienna and near to gems like Passignano, Radda in Chianti and Greve in Chianti. Our best day was exploring the local area on electric bikes, really fun and so so beautiful. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back.

We came from Florence looking to unwind and relax after some heavy duty sight seeing, and this was the perfect place. Beautiful rolling Tuscan landscape, 12th century castle set in vineyards and olive groves, manicured grounds and a wonderful spa. \Modern, clean design elements. The pool is terrific. Pool not your thing? Lounge out on the expansive patio, have a Campari soda and read the paper. Nice organized paths for hikes made it easy to take in the landscape at our leisure. The service was great and so was the food! We ate at each restaurant and enjoyed it all. Obviously great wine. The service and hospitality was superb. Totally recommend and would stay there again.

My husband and spent one night traveling from Pisa Airport to the Val D'Orcia. It is a lovely tranquil place. The rooms are light and airy with wonderful views. The spa is niv=ce - I had a massage which was the perfect antidote to long night of air travel. Staff is warn, friendly and very helpful.

As we were let down by another Hotel nearby (they had failed to inform us that our booking with them was not confirmed!) we decided to opt for Castello Del Nero. We stayed here in 2014-Reception looked up our previous booking-and we were just bowled over with the transformation by the current owners. The touches were subtle, but so beautiful and respectful of the age of the property. Everything looked like it had been burnished to a bright new glow. The Lobby is stunning. Our room was magnificent with the most spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. I do not recognise any of the adverse comments about various members of Staff. To a man and woman, they were all charming, courteous and helpful. Restaurant staff were wonderful and the pool guys were tremendously helpful. Food in the Pavilion at lunch was pricey, but you expect that when staying in a hotel of this calibre. Everything we ate was beautifully served and delicious. Breakfast was fab and the one evening meal we had in the casual restaurant was also lovely. I could not fault this Hotel. We had a wonderful, relaxing break and hope to return.

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Not so sure. My family and I enjoyed a 5 night stay at COMO Castello Del Nero in August. We booked this property due to the COMO name, having been long term devotees of the brand. On whole we had a lovely holiday, but there were certain elements of the hotel that left us feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. Here are our pro's and cons! PRO's: 1) The property and its grounds are truly breathtaking. They are expansive, well maintained and incredibly chic. It has all the rustic design elements you want from a Tuscan property with the undeniably cool aesthetic of a COMO hotel. 2) The rooms are large and well equipped - comfy bed, rainforest shower & stunning views! 3) The breakfast is luxe - a beautiful buffet with fresh berries, homemade granola and a vast array of meats, cheeses & pastries with hot food direct from the kitchen - the staff will remember your name, favourite table and coffee order...bonus! CON's: 1) The wifi is truly awful - not good enough for a 5* hotel ie don't bet on a working holiday. 2) The food and beverage offering at the Pavilion restaurant by the pool is limited, expensive (think €20 for a sandwich and €30 for a simple spaghetti pomodoro) and the service is sub par (there are some clear exceptions to this rule including the young male manager). One evening I was given the wrong order and simply told "you'll have to wait 15 minutes" - no apology. On every dining occasion we had to request menus, cutlery or our wine order which was nearly always forgotten. There is also no kids menu on offer, even though it is a child friendly hotel. So our toddler cost us in excess of €40 per meal. 3) The transport offering at the hotel is incredibly expensive - we were quoted €60 for a one way pick up from the local town which is 5 minutes drive away. 4) On whole, the hotel has not captured the luxury travel experience and bespoke personal service culture that the COMO hotel group is renowned for. We will return to other COMO properties, but not this one until their service has improved. Such a shame. But with a little love/training this hotel could be incredible!

This has to be one of the best hotels ive stayed in world wide. The service was perfect from the second we checked in untill we checked out of the hotel. The staff is extremely well trained, warm and charming. The room was really spacious and very clean. The turn down sevice and room cleaning daily was the most detailed ive come across. The views from the hotel take your breath away. Worth every penny spent. Will definitely make the trip there again xx

My husband and I stayed for a week to enjoy all that Tuscany had to offer. We were delighted with the quality of the service we received from the wonderful and hospitable staff. Breakfast is included and is freshly made. The breads, cheeses and fruit were great. Also you can order eggs fresh and made for your taste. The food is top quality and flavorful. Never disappointed at all. Decided on a beautiful suite and it was just as promised. Large room with TV, movies in English which was rare. There was a beautiful view of the vineyards from our suite. A must do is the wine tastings in the wine cellar at the hotel. Lorenzo did a fantastic job and educated us in Chianti Classico wines. They had several hiking trails on the property which we also enjoyed. Can’t wait to return to this fabulous place!

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? 100%!! The staff were all wonderful, attentive, courteous and clearly loved their jobs. The hotel was set in the most beautiful breath-taking surroundings. The rooms large (even though we were in the least expensive) with a huge bathroom. The rooms were spotlessly cleaned each morning. From when I made the booking and asked lots of questions about the room, excursions, the complementary shuttle bus to Siena and Florence, I was given immediate email responses to my questions. Arrival with a glass of prosecco on offer, a guided tour of the hotel, a welcome drinks evening for guests, (luckily we didn't have far to travel) and the wonderful food and wine. I don't want to single any one member of staff out for praise because you were all outstanding! Thank you!

So we have seen Como Castello del Nero online and on social media, and booked for 2 nights during our road trip in Italy. For the season we go, average standard room pricing was around 630 Euro. We have chosen Superior Suit considering the pictures that were put by the hotel on Booking.com (under the Superior Suit option). The only reason for us to pay around 500 Euros MORE was that the pictures were showing the room had two doors opening to the terrace/ or any outdoor area. Plus it shows fire place etc. But our main reason to choose the room was the terrace/outdoor doors. (We've paid over 1100 Euros per night). On our arrival we were welcomed very kindly, and guided to our room. Our room was suit with sitting area (which also exists in lower cost rooms as well, maybe little smaller one). And definitely no door that opens to a terrace or to the common garden. When I went to the reception and tell them about how unpleasant this situation was, showing the pictures, the only answer I got was "we have only one superior suit as it is shown on the picture, and all others are without the terrace or outdoor opening. Sorry." Same was told at the check out. Making people pay 500 extra, and then telling them that there is only one suit as shown in the pictures. Then how come you sell more than 1 room of this type with a higher cost, when you only have one. What should this be called? Fraud. In general only nice thing was hotel staff. But the reception needs supervision.
