For the most part, the staff was fine. I even went to the spa and they were lovely, too. Tyrese, Troy, Andre, Fabian, I can list several staff members who were great and value-adding assets to Hilton. Bellhop Philip and manager Adrian really ruined my experience at the Hilton. After waiting 20 minutes in the first-come first serve taxi line, Bellhop Philip (an elderly Black man) physically prevented me from getting in the next taxi. He wanted to accommodate the white woman who had just come up in line behind my husband and I. Although I refrained from explitives, I explained I was first, had already been waiting (there was no one else in line). We had been there all week and taxis had been waiting, but not that day. Why should I have to "get the next one" and give up my convenience for hers? He literally spread his body out to prevent me from entering the taxi a second time. At that point, my husband said we'd just take the next one, but I was incensed. When I returned, Fabian called out the manager Adrian at my request. Adrian's demeanor was very dismissive. He didn't even apologize. His only concern was that there were no taxis. He asked me irrelevant questions and promised to follow up, but failed to do so. The whole situation embarassed me and made feel less and certainly not welcomed. I mean was supposed to be a vacation. Unless you want to be treated like Jim Crow times, I would think about other options.
