Residence Inn by Marriott Baltimore BWI Airport3.0 out of 5.0

1. Hospitality needs to be improved-- provide water and/or coffee for customers when it is hot outside. 2. Housekeeping needs to shape up- disgusting stuff was found all over the couch and the floor was not even vacuumed. 3. The pool... no one SHOULD EVER smoke there, and it is your responsibility to make sure other guests are in compliance by doing check-ins. 4. Ongoing training needed for the "new staff" to ensure these matters don't happen. Only thing great was the shuttle bus to the airport and the morning breakfast.
Stayed here for 6 days on recent work trip. Room was always clean and in good condition. Breakfast was included and always included a variety of good and fresh options. Check in and check out process was good. Upon leaving and waiting for airport shuttle , driver seemed to be a bit rude when he arrived and informed that shuttle was full and we would have to wait. Kim came out to see we were still sitting outside when we informed her of the tone of the driver. She corrected this by calling the shuttle from the neighboring Marriott, since 2 of us had flights leaving with less than 2 hrs of time. Kim was very nice and handled solving our problem. Nice location within walking distance to some food options and a movie theater.
I have traveled for business for 15 years and never saw one roach until now. I advised the front desk on the first night. On Day 3 the assistant manager, Jordan, indicated the engineer sprayed outside my room. Outside of the room only? I presume that is why by Day 4 that I saw 3 more small roaches crawl across the bed, vanity wall, and wall adjacent to the t.v. Upon notification of the front desk, all the attendant could say was wow...we're sold out, and she'd leave a note for the manager to address it tomorrow. I should have known this would not be a pleasant stay when upon departing for the office the first two mornings, I removed trash bags from the hallway which looked to have been left by housekeeping the day prior. I'm left speechless and sleepless at this point...afraid that I'll carry roaches home with me.
The hotel is everything you expect from a Residence Inn. The rooms are nicely appointed with typical suite amenities. The breakfast was hot and ample. The staff was pleasant and helpful. You have to call for the free shuttle to and from the airport which can take 15 minutes or so. The hotel is just a few minutes away from the airport - far enough to not have a lot of the typical airport noise.
We usually stay in this area because it is close to family and we feel we can get to Baltimore (Aquarium, etc) and D.C. without much hassle. I would avoid Building B, 2nd-floor rooms 229-238. There is a laundry room, a mechanical room, and a linen room. It is noisy and our room was a bit moldy. While the pool sign says that those under 14 need to be supervised by a parent, we saw plenty of under 14 kids without supervision. Also, the facility is pet-friendly so make sure to ask about rooms that have not had pets (I didn't think about this until afterward). One final note about rooms and the facility - it is supposed to be non-smoking (maybe only non-smoking int he rooms), but I saw people smoking outside between the pool and dining area. The staff is OUTSTANDING especially Denise and the folks who put together breakfast each morning. They are full of helpful tips. Also, there was a little sprinkler incident on our floor during our stay and the staff remained calm and professional. The breakfast is yummy with decent variety. They have a "happy hour" type thing3 nights a week, which is nice. Overall, it is a good place to stay. We've stayed at the sister Towne Place Suites before which we also like. Food recommendation: G&M not too far = best Maryland crab cake ever!!!
Even though we encountered a few issues throughout our stay, my wife and I enjoyed our time at this Residence Inn. Upon arrival, we were greeted and given a welcome packet, which included several local restaurant menus and a coupon for a free wash & dry and two free items from the market in the lobby. The room was clean and large for a studio suite. The breakfast staff (Denise and Linda) was awesome, and there was always a large variety of food out. One morning at about 6:40, the fire alarm went off, so we evacuated to the lobby, where we were kept informed about the situation by the front desk staff - after getting clearance from the fire department, they were quick to inform us that we were able to go back to our room. A different day, we returned to our room to find that it was 78 degrees because the air conditioning was out all day. A call to the front desk led to maintenance promptly coming to the room, and Kirk spent nearly an hour working to repair the unit. He stated multiple times that he wanted to get it fixed so that we didn't have to switch rooms on the last night of our stay, but had also called the front desk and had a room held, just in case he couldn't get it repaired. All told, I was highly impressed with this hotel and its staff. If I ever need a place to stay again, Residence Inn BWI will be where I'll go!
This an older residence inn. Could use a bit of renovation. But,.. the front desk was great. The room was clean. The bed was really nice and comfortable. The seven minute commute to BWI is great. All in all a pleasant stay and would definitely stay again.
I would stay here again when back in the area. The staff was very helpful and made check in easy. The evening reception was enjoyable and the patio area a nice welcome respite. Would have liked the fitness area to be a bit larger with more options. It was fine for one night, but if I was there for an extended stay, I would have to find a gym.
I had a last minute trip and had to move out of a downtown hotel to this property by the NOW airport. Surprisingly Convenient especially because of the plethora of uber. The reduced cost of this hotel was NOT ofset by the travel cost. What you would expect from this brand. Attentive staff excellent do it yourself breakfasts (included). One problem Wi-Fi not too good in building B.
I've stayed at a lot of Marriott brands in the past 20+ years and several in the BWI-Baltimore-Annapolis area. This one is a gem and worth your consideration. And if Danielle is your host, it will be a bonus as she quickly and cheerfully resolved a problem I experienced with my reservation over the phone, then days later remembered me upon check-in and was genuinely glad to greet me upon our arrival. Our room was ready (we used the app for early check-in) and the room was perfect for our one-nite stay. The refrigerator was on and cold (often not the case) and the TV was placed for watching from either the comfortable sofa, equally comfortable bed, or the kitchen area. This room was very similar to other Residence Inns, but somehow this particular Residence Inn made us feel at home. It was too chilly for the outdoor pool, though it looked to be very clean and and appropriately sized for the hotel. The patio are includes propane grills so I know we would've enjoyed a longer stay. While the exercise room is small, I've never seen a need for anything bigger while traveling on business or with the family. This room has a few nice, modern treadmills and other equipment and is conveniently located. Don't skip the breakfast buffet. We made our own waffles and also enjoyed warm, delicious eggs, ham, and sausage. The buffet also includes other basics, including good coffee. The ladies working the buffet during my stay were attentive and made my meal even better. The entire breakfast area was clean; a difficult chore during the busy morning hours with lots of hungry guests. We will return to this hotel. I'm familiar with the area as I lived there for many years in the past. It's very convenient to two fabulous bike trails (BWI and Baltimore & Annapolis Trail), shopping and the casino at Arundel Mills, as well as Baltimore and Annapolis.
