Very enjoyable stay, staff very efficient Location is really good Bar food menu has a good variety Breakfast has a great selection of self service food Leisure center had a very large pool with lot of different water features
We stayed here with our 17/12 old . Every one we met was so friendly and helpful for our entire stay even with out boisterous little lady . The pool was a great place to relax for all of us ... there’s a little oaky ppl for kids but also a very good size pool to swim in and the jacuzzi is on the side so you can take turns . The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout the breakfast is gorgeous. I would definitely stay there again .
Just back from weekend break, great hotel and very friendly staff, great pool for all ages, highly recommended.food is great and service is excellent. Rooms very comfortable and spacious. We will definitely be back.👍👍
We stayed for 2 night B&B 1 Evening meal for a family wedding best hotel experience ever the staff from receptionists to cleaning staff to management made our stay so comfortable nothing was too much trouble we didn't have the evening meal so the hotel said we could use it for Carvery on the Sunday wow food was exquisite Donal the chef was 2nd to none so friendly and engaging would I return absolutely a big fat yes
Ellis rooms was poorly lit. Why can't you use half the lamps unless you have the main overhead lights turned on? Bed was very comfortable but quite loud and prone to dancing around a bit should it see any action. Could quite easily hear noise from corridor and from courtyard outside. Not much natural light given the partly underground nature of the room, understandable, but one still can't open the piece of window one has there. Loud humming noise from bathroom all night despite having air-con turned off. No door for bathroom area. A nice place in fairness but you'd think their more premium rooms would feel a bit more polished.
We recently booked a 2 night fota package in the hotel for myself and my husband and 2 children over the bank holiday weekend. We were really looking forward to the break as I rarely get a bank holiday off work. I phoned to book the deal by phone after I seen it on an advertisement on Facebook. Arriving at the hotel to check in we were given our room key. I enquired at check in about the times for the kids club which my 2 children were so excited about and was told that the kids club was only ran during the summer and not as was advertised on the package at Halloween. Disappointed but willing to get over this we headed to our family room only to find a double bed and a barely bigger than single bed. I told my husband there must be a mix up so went back to reception to enquire. The girl on reception apologized but informed us this was the family room even though the picture on the ad clearly shows a double and 2 single bed. I requested to change room but I was told all the other rooms were checked into even though we clearly seen bigger rooms being cleaned on the way down. Then I requested a camp bed so she said she'd arrange one. Trying to make the most of things we went for a walk. We returned about 2 hrs later, still no camp bed. I went back to reception and there was a new girl on duty who knew nothing of our story which I explained again. She then went to look for a camp bed and I asked her to let me know straight away. Again an hour passed and no news I went back down and again someone else was on reception covering for break. More explanations and she said she'd get the original girl to ring when she was back from break. After no word again my husband had to go back down and eventually was told there was no camp bed available but she agreed to swap our rooms tomorrow. After a dreadful night's sleep for the 4 of us I had to pack up all our stuff as we were headed to fota wildlife. The receptionist told us she would arrange our stuff being moved . When we returned at 4pm our new room was still not available. More apologies and a compensatory cup of tea later. We eventually got our proper room. Long story but we were so frustrated and upset with the way we were dealt with. Thankfully I have never had to write a review like this before. The waiting staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Breakfast was fab. And the kids loved the leisure centre. Fota island was a brilliant day with a picnic included. It was just a shame about the rest.
I have just returned from a two night family break in the Oriel hotel. The reason that my wife and I chose this hotel was because it has a kids club during school holidays as advertised. I rang the morning before I arrived to confirm times of the kids club, I was advised that it runs from 4 to 9:30 every evening. On checking in I asked the receptionist about enrolling kids. I was then advised that the kids club wasn’t running this week due to not enough children staying in the hotel. I asked to speak to a manager, when I spoke to the manager I was told that the kids club was running but the staff member was running late and it wouldn’t start until 6pm. We brought the children into the bar and ordered two meals from the children’s menu. We waited one hour and twenty minutes for the food to arrive. The bar staff were very apologetic. We then joined the kids club but the children missed the start of the movie due to being delayed waiting for food. The next evening we asked was the kids club running and we were informed that it was cancelled due to no staff members available to run it. I spoke to other parents who also felt disappointed with the kids club. Despite numerous children staying in the hotel. I would be very reluctant to stay in the Oriel hotel again. I felt that the kids club was falsely advertised on the website. I would not recommend this hotel to families with children. The staff were trying their best. I feel that the problems in this hotel are down to extremely bad management.
accommodation was fine. quality of service n food in bar dreadful. bar man jamie very good and another lady waitress ( apologies i do not have her name but long blonde hair. she was excellent under pressure. it was our worst experience yet. that said we were staying there n could not find fault wit bedrooms.
Fabulous break at the Oriel House hotel. Service excellent as per usual and little gift for the kids was a lovely touch. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent vast array of buffet choices and the leisure is perfect for small kids. Will return again
There’s very little I can fault this hotel for, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming and can’t do enough for you. The hotel itself and the rooms are decorated so nice and the pool and fitness centre are a great addition. It’s outside of cork city centre and taxis cost about €20-€25 so that part wasn’t great however there is a bus stop very close to the hotel and the bus runs 24hrs. I would recommend this hotel for any kind of stay whether it be couples, friends, family or business. Thanks again to all at Oriel house hotel we will definitely be returning!
