Cozy Austin Stay

This is a comfortable vintage house with just the right amount of updating and Austin hip. It is on the edge of a charming neighborhood yet has all the energy of West Campus. We hope to return!

This was the perfect location for our stay in Austin. Walking distance to restaurants. Close to family. House was perfect for us.

This is a very old house, and the inside is mostly renovated. The outside looks like a drug house, is next to a laundry mat and the Drag, and surrounded by a bar in the back and front on the Drag. You hear everything outside, not to mention the creaking of every floor board. We are told to park in the back yard, and not allowed to go in and out of the front door. Also not allowed to sit on the front porch. It is close to Austin, but kids will not like it.

I have never given less than a 5 star review on a property and my stay at the longhorn lodge was incredibly stressful and not a pleasant experience. to give some background, I rented the house 22 days, i was there for a therapy intensive for my special needs daughter and the home was close to the center and had a washing machine/ ability to cook as we would be living there for a little over 3 weeks. This stay was not a vacation, but full of a tight schedule of therapy and was looking for a nice place for us to relax after that time. Below is an outline of our experience. 1. We arrived to the home and it was very dirty, feet black from walking on floors, a musty smell and dirt caked in cabinets and on window sills and visible dust all over the walls. the linens were clean, and other than some shower mildew the bathrooms seemed clean. I did not complain about this right away as the home is around 100 years old and i thought maybe it was "old house" smell. 2. we went to do laundry on the second day we were there and there was visible mold all over the gasket and underneath the gasket of the washer and it smelled like mold and was unusable. My daughter goes through many changes of clothing per day/ she has soft cloth rags to wash her face and having a properly functioning and clean washing machine was a MUST and was the appliance that was most needed in the house. This was an entire ordeal to try to get fixed in a timely fashion.
