Really recommend stopping here for a night when doing the journey through the fjords. It was lovely to stop in a small village and visit the Viking Village as well. The room we had was amazing, it was Viking themed and had a window to look at the stars (weather dependant!). The bed was extremely comfortable as well. We had dinner in the restraurant as well which was good value and lovely food and a nice fireplace for drinks after dinner. The only let down was breakfast as we went a bit later in the allocated time and there was very little choice, so recommend going earlier in the allocated time for breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend .

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a two bedroom - just a note that it is a bit of a walk from the main hotel area down the road, so if anyone has mobility issues they should be aware of that. The staff were really lovely and accommodating and offered us early check in as we arrived on the bus from Voss with all of the other tourists and I had a cranky 3 year old. The breakfast was excellent - lots of variety and fresh food. We enjoyed visiting the Viking Valley - which I don’t think is affiliated with the hotel but the restaurants are owned by the same people. Lovely views, lovely room (a bit cold to start but heated up once we were there for awhile and had the heaters going) - and it was magical waking up to the frosty mountain air with that view.

Nice stay at the Gudvangen Fjordtell before heading up north. It can get busy when a bus rolls in as it is at a crossroads to more of the country. The owner I believe was, Olaf is the nicest man and had a wonderul idea for us to travel to via car. We just LOVED Aselunde! The most historic coastal northern city we drove to in Norway.

Our room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast had lots of options. We had a very short walk to see amazing fjord views, we also walked to nearby grocery store. Our only negative was the staff member in the back office smoking when we checked in. The whole place smelled of cigarette smoke that evening. Luckily our room was in a separate building.

Quiet place. Fun to stay

I chose this place because the hotels in Flam were quite expensive. At first, the exterior of the hotel made me hesitate a little, but after staying here, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior was beautifully upgraded and very clean, far better than the outside appearance. The staff were also kind and helpful. The breakfast was slightly below average, but the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. If I visit again, I would definitely stay here.

Hotel is in a very beatiful environment. The locaiton is also very convenient, right next to Bus, Ferry, and Cruise stops. The rooms are in a very "Viking-ish" setup.

Arrived by ferry from Flåm. Idyllic setting at the end of a beautiful fjord. Had a comfortable and spacious small apartment. Was perfect for the two of us. Dinner on site was very good. Took city bus to flam the next morning. Definitely the best location for an overnight stay!!

Great comfortable room. Fun decorating! We liked the stay. Dinner was amazing. Easy off the ferry to the hotel. We did not have a car and the trail we wanted to take was closed. It was the one by the fjord. Went in one other hike-but left early. The hotel itself was great. No complaints at all. Beautiful setting. L

Staff was all very friendly and wanted to make sure you were taken care of. We stayed one night as we took a ferry from Bergen to Flåm in order to get to Oslo. We stayed in a room with a kitchen and if we had to do it over would've stayed a couple nights and done hiking in the area. The room was clean and there was plenty of space. The property had 2 restaurants and a third at the viking village was available. Good experience for less than 24 hour stay and beautiful location.

Perfect place to get away

Had a great stay at Gudvangen Fjordtell. The location is amazing and the people were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend staying here and not in Flam. Cruise ships cannot come into the fjord that far, so at night it is very peaceful. Easy access back and forth to Flam via the shuttle bus, or by boat.

If you want to stay close to Flåm, this place is a gem. It’s only 20 minutes from flam & is easily accessible by ferry or bus. There are several dining options on or near the property. The scenery is beautiful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Also the breakfast bar is good and has everything. I would highly recommend.
