The lobby, rooms and other facilities are excellent, but adjacent construction (closed-off streets) makes it very difficult to find a route to the hotel. We finally parked 1/2 block away, walked to the hotel and gave the car keys to a valet who took fully 25 minutes to find a route to drive our car to the hotel check-in area while we stood around. And, don't expect the tight-fisted front desk to comp your $45 a day parking fee for the extended inconvenience. No way. They claimed lack of authority and promised to speak to a manager about the parking comp and then call our room with a decision, but never did call. Accommodation and flexibility (and modest authority vested in front desk staff) are not in this front-desk;s playbook. Also, Orbitz said we'd get a 25% food VIP discount, so we went to the Thai restaurant accessed directly from the hotel lobby. But no discount. Why? The front desk said the restaurant was a separate operation! Bait and switch, anyone?

Arrived late and hotel staff was very pleasant and efficient. Room was fantastic.

The rooms don't have deadbolt locks. If you are concern about security, this is a huge concern.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel over a three day period. The rates were reasonable for a quality hotel. Interestingly enough, we decided to return for our last night in NZ and were initially told that the same room had doubled in price. I went online and found a search engine that had the room available for $150 less than that quoted from the hotel itself. I was disappointed in that. However, it is staffed with friendly employees who do a good job....just shop around for what you are going to pay.

Worth the money. Perfect place for a short stay. Valet service need a bit more customer service training.

A total value for what we paid for. Can't to come back again. We also love the ramen place just across the hotel!

The bellmen and front desk staff were very helpful, including a way for me to weigh my baggage prior to airport departure.

An early in the day occupancy was granted during a very busy weekend starting off a very enjoyable stay in a fine hotel. Location two blocks from famous Auckland Harbor, restaurants, cafes, etc etc. Concierge helpful at every turn. Nice breakfast, if a little crowded and more nice people. All for quite reasonable cost in expensive NZ. Lot to like!

Its a generally nice place. Internet is horribly expensive. I found it unacceptable that a hotel that calls itself 5 star would charge exorbitant rates for something like wifi. When I asked about why this was the case staff at front desk were rude. The room service staff were super friendly however and went out of their way to make sure I was happy. Room itself was clean and high quality. Not a bad hotel on the whole. Just be prepared to be disappointed on the charges for internet. You can find better around auckland at the end of the day.

Very central location. Concierge extremely helpful and gave great tips for places to eat, day trips, getting around town. Pool/hot tub/gym top notch on 10th floor with amazing city/bay views.

Hotel was expensive, but clean and neat and the room was big. Bed comfortable. My only complaint was that the breakfast buffet was $25 per person and it was not worth even $10. I was disappointed in the selection and felt it was way over priced. Free Internet, but you had to leave your room go across the hotel and up a flight of stairs to get the signal. That was annoying. Upon check out they tried to stick us with another charge that they said was some tax, which I refused to pay. They had our money for 4 months, the room was prepaid, they had no business charging a tax at the end. They didn't argue too much and took it off. Pleasant hotel otherwise and it was located nicely. Close to shopping and a short walk to the pier where the tours took place. A short walk to the sky needle too. We had no need to take a cab to get around as the hotel is really centrally located to all the main attractions. Auckland is awesome, I'm going back.

perfect business hotel, multiple internet connection options, all required amenities close to everything in Auckland

Relaxing Stay

This is a great hotel, perfectly located just a few blocks from all the action. Probably the best value in the entire city.

We arrived from Tahiti to check out Auckland for 2 nights. This hotel is very new, modern and comfortable. A king bed and a plush room were set for us. The breakfast buffet is incredible, but very expensive. There's a great diner across the street that's good for a quick breakfast. I was extremely pleased upon our arrival. Highly recommend--as I had researched several city hotels in Auckland and this one really turned out nice.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I am pleased overall you enjoyed your stay with us. Valet parking does apply for a charge as it is part of hotel service; please accept my apology regarding any inconvenience caused by the road work. While The Thai restaurant is based inside Stamford Building, unfortunately it is not part of Stamford Plaza Auckland. Hence the discount won't apply. Do visit back next time; I am looking forward to it. Regards, Jerry Feng, Assistant Front Office Manager
