Stayed 3 nights. PROS Chose Parklane for proximity to Alexandra Park venue. Staff very pleasant and attended to minor detail promptly. Shower pressure great. Kitchen had good array of equipment. Would stay here again. CONS Room was compact and only one suitcase stand provided. Staff member willingly assisted us to take suitcases up multiple stair flights but this could be an issue for mobility.
We stayed for the one night. The room was clean and well supplied for our needs. A couple of lights not working but over all fine. Very friendly staff at reception. They were happy to change our room to accommodate 2 adults and a child and the reduced the rate accordingly.
We are a family of 5, and were stuck in Auckland for 2 weeks. Parklane Motor Inn was great for us. We had use of adjoining rooms, and a fully functioning kitchen to use. It is close enough to town, and there are bus stops close by.
Four of us stayed at this accommodation for the Bruce Springsteen show. To its credit we were provided with a minicab for transport to and from the venue. However accommodation and service left a lot to be desired. Prior to arriving I had nil response to my emails. Bathroom had tape all over floor - some lifting - to warn one of slippery surface. Towels were minimal size and no spares. We attempted to have reception order in pizzas because we were having difficulty in pressing the right direction buttons on our phones and finally a staff member begrudgingly made the call for us. I felt the $180 per person was over the top - there was definitely no extras. I have rated our stay as average as the areas we were in were 'tired'. However good location particularly for getting to Mt Smart. Getting wifi was a mission though.
We booked two nights for an executive unit well in advance. Also when booking I emailed re my concern about the cleanliness that some reviews had committed. I was told that if I wasn't happy that I would get a free night. On our arrival we were given the key to our room....after a few minutes I realised that the unit we were put into was not an executive unit. Queried it with the office to say you are in a twin unit and she was not aware of the mix until a few days ago, so asked why did they not notify us earlier or on arrival re the change. I got told, oh we have given you a voucher for a meal across the road, ok so why didn't you tell me on arrival. Just rubbish....they were hoping we wouldn't notice. The room was certainly not clean...i cleaned the smear all over the mirror and tv within 5 minutes....not to mention cleaning all kitchen stuff before we used. Our own data would not work and we were not able to receive calls or make calls in the unit. We left after one night as they did not provide what we booked for and i have email confirmation of this booking. I have written a email to the manager and did not hear anything so sent another one to give them a chance to resolve the issues but they have not replied after 5 days. So therefore please think twice before you book here - I will never stay here again....it is rubbish in more ways than one.
It is not so great in terms of comfort as the beds are not so good. The Air-con was not working so they arranged a fan for me. It has a bit interesting castle like look from outside. Okay to stay overnight. Having said that, it is easily accessible and has few nice restaurants at walkable distance. Location is peaceful. Very limited breakfast food options.
This could be a really great place to stay. There is plenty of room and the pool makes the location very inviting. The interior is in need of some serious updates. First of all basic things like checking light bulbs ensuring that they are working would be a great start, then updating the television (even the Veon from the Warehouse is an improvement). Then uptating the choices for the TV is help even Duke is free. This is no fault of the hotel, and the construction happening at 7am is not the best. Maybe a card stating that there is construction happening would be helpful. With these updates this location could be amazing.
Service at reception was good. Room smelt musty. No telephone in the room! Cleanliness.... could be better. Construction happening next to Motel!!! Apartments. Woke in the morning and the toilet had a leak. Will not be going there again unless necessary.
My husband and I were impressed with the customer service we received from our first contact by phone to the time we checked out. The staff went above and beyond to help us with any concerns and with helping us sort our public transportation to/from the NFL nines. The hotel manager (Jan) is a true gem!! She is a ray of sunshine and Parklane Motel is definitely lucky to have her!! Will definitely recommend.
The new owners need to act a lot faster to turn their game around, otherwise, it will only make a greater damage to the motel's reputation. We booked this motel as it is close to the ASB Show Ground. Sadly, the place did not deliver the value for money in other aspects apart from location. Hope the new owners get on to their renovation asap!
