Novotel Auckland Ellerslie

We often stay here. When I arrived last night I had a treat left in my fridge and a lovely note saying enjoy yourself. Staff are fully trained and lovely and polite plus friendly. The actual Novotel normally gets booked out first where there is 5 floors. The Ibis the cheaper and grade down has two levels of floors. We stayed on the 5th floor and my b ed was the most comfortable out of all hotels/motels I have stayed in around the World. There is also a restaurant and 24 hour. room service. Parking can sometimes be hard to find and you do pay.

After a terrible flight across the Tasman, then taking 70 minutes in Auckland's quite common horrendous traffic to travel the 20km from the airport, I was extremely annoyed to be informed on arrival that the Novotel had been overbooked for the first of my four booked nights, and I would be spend the first night in the adjoining, budget Ibis hotel. Despite my tired and frustrated grumpiness, the front desk staff continued to try their best and were thoroughly professional and courteous, promising to switch our rooms the following day when I was attending to planned business. The Ibis wasn't all that bad, and really would have sufficed for the trip, but as promised, on my return for night two my bag was now in a new room in the Novotel, along with a handwritten note from the manager, along with a complimentary fruit/cheese platter and nice bottle of wine. I cannot commend the front desk staff who attended to me highly enough, particularly the young manager, who did a tremendous job pleasing a customer who was grumpy outside of his control. The hotel itself was as expected for a Novotel, the room was good, bed comfortable, the in-house bar and restaurants were fine. While off to a bad start, the staff turned my visit around into a good experience, and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Well done.

Went up to Auckland for a night for my nephew's birthday. The hotel is off the main road which goes pass the hospital in Ellerslie. I was able to get a carpark in the main area but they do have additional carparks down in gate 2. The cost for parking is reasonable for a hotel this size. The check in process was quick and friendly. The room was nice, comfortable and clean. It is what you would expect from a hotel chain. It was a good place to get a good nights rest. My only issue was having trouble with the paying payment machine. However the frontdesk was able to resolve that well. Would stay again for an overnighter.

Admittedly we were a walk in booking, however a muck up meant that I was charged twice and had to make numerous phone calls to get this sorted. Over a week to get money back - not good enough. Room average (recently stayed at Novotel Tainui in Hamilton and you would not think they were not the same chain at all. Novotel Ellerslie let themselves down on this occasion, room was very average - nothing brilliant for the price paid, comfortable bed, bathroom below standard - standard bath with shower overhead.... disappointing. Breakfast luke warm so a let down there too. Another confusion was you get a free drink voucher - however it doesn't state that it is only for one person when clearly there are two guests. I don't know if I would stay in such an expensive room next time to be honest. It wasn't up to par.

We had a day here for a research presentation and thought the facilities were great. Lots of comfy couches, nice outdoor space, good food and friendly/helpful staff. Had a night in the Ibis side of the hotel & while the room was small & not cheap it was clean and functional with comfortable beds.

wife and I spent two nights at this hotel (Nova and Ibis share this property) for a work related racing function. The race track is about 5 mins walk away. I had these 2 nights paid for, the room was classed as a superior king seized which went for $309 per night. ROOM, Tidy but felt underwhelming and dated, I would have expected much more for this price as I have paid similar costs to stay in Auckland and Wellington hotels which offered a much better class of room. 5 star costs for a 3 star room. BREAKFAST $31 for the buffet breakfast, absolutely not worth this cost. Again low grade offerings for high grade costs. Given the food options offered I would have said paying $20 per person may have been fair, what they charge is a rip off. OVERALL EXPERIENCE The staff were fairy friendly , we were locked out of the room due to a check in issue on the hotel side and it seemed take longer to sort out than you would expect. My main issues were the room and breakfast costs and the standard you get for these costs. I would imagine the bookings this hotel gets is from people attending racing or events at this location. I would never stay there again myself and would say consumers can and should do better than staying at this Novotel.

Stayed for two nights for Armaggeddon 2017 with my bestie. Nice room, loved the breakfast. Room service was ok. Would stay there again. Perfect location for events at Greenlane events centre. Convenient parking.

Myself and my partner stayed here on the 28/10/17 we came from Hamilton and my partner paid for a EARLY CHECK IN! which is $80 extra only to arrive and be told that the room isn’t ready and we have to wait half an hour. We waited almost 2 hours for our room to be ready. The lady at the desk was rude and very unhelpful. We had no idea we had to pay $50 for the bond of the room. I am very unimpressed with this place. I will not be coming back after tonight’s stay. I prefer hamilton Novotel to this one. This Novotel is crap with crap service.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights (Friday and Saturday) we arrived late on Friday evening and had no problems finding a park. Check in was quick and the young man at the front desk was polite and helpful. The room was a good size with a large picture window overlooking the car park, garden area and palms. The room was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was basic but did have good water pressure in the shower. The toiletries were good quality. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were good (I often find hotel pillows to be uncomfortable and poor quality). The location was good for accessing the city and there was no noise from the street. We ate at the restaurant and found the food disappointing, it was basic and of a Cobb n Co standard and type of meal. However, the buffet breakfast was excellent with a impressive range to choose from including gluten free options. I would stay at the Novotel again.

I stayed for one night for business this month. Check in at peak times was very busy but I managed to get in before the rush. Room was nice, good bed and linens and in a very tidy condition.Bathroom good and good selection of bathroom amenities and a decent hairdryer (hooray!). The bar was open late which we used after a business dinner in town. They recognized my Accor Plus at check in quickly and I got a free drink voucher.Car parking on site but it does fill up. I didn't get to eat there so not sure how the food is.A good solid Novotel and I would happily stay again.
