Having to pay an extra $6.50 each way for the transfer kills this place for me. They even have the machine in the lobby to sell tickets so the staff don't have to issue tickets (I was refused a sale at check in "Due to the 1.5% surcharge" yet the machine charges a 50c fee every time which is 8.5%). Also the 'yellow' bus transfers only leave every 30 minutes and they stop at multiple hotels making it a very long short-trip. The room itself could have better soundproofing and was spoiled by noisy Air conditioning - otherwise it was Holiday Inn standard fare.

Helpful staff and clean rooms. The hotel room and bathroom had plenty of room for us and all of our stuff. The yellow bus to and from the airport make transportation very easy. We had a late check-in and they let us store out luggage the next day while we toured Auckland.

I stayed with my son in January overnight and had a pleasant stay. The pool unfortunately, although it being the middle of summer, was freezing!! Not much area around pool to sunbathe either. Room was average although there was hair left on our vanity from previous occupants...never a good look. We ordered room service which was prompt and of a very good standard. Nice and quiet for sleeping and great black out curtains. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and could have sat there for hours, alas my 9 year old doesn't share my passion for prolonged dining.

The staff at this hotel make it a review that needs to be completed. The desk clerks who actually no what they are doing and have excellent local knowledge. The buffet in the resturaunt and staff were very good. Well were there any down sides, yes some of the guests need to act responsibly. Thank you to the staff at Holiday Inn Aucland

Not that pleased with our stay. Certainly not value for money. The staff were most helpful, but when there is no lift to the first floor and it is difficult for you to climb stairs not the service you would expect from a hotel group like this. The food in the restaurant was not of a standard that one would expect and for the price that we paid. The only consolation was we could park the car free for the two weeks we were away. Not a hotel we would recommend there are certainly better ones around and for a less cost. Disapointing

At the end of three weeks if travel on the South and North islands we sought out a place with great high speed wifi and comfortable beds to reorganize before the long flight home to the east coast of the USA. THIS PLACE WAS NEARLY PERFECT. THE CURRENT GLITCH IS THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION WHICH COMPLICATES GETTING IN AND OUT. It did not create a noise issue so we had a restful stay. I am very noise sensitive so trust me on that. The staff was pleasant and helpful. It is within 15 minutes of the airport which minimizes the time as a long trip begins. We were allowed a late check out so we did not rush our packing and AM relaxing before our 1PM departure to catch our flight home.

We missed our connecting flight on New Years Eve and were stuck in Auckland for one night with 2 little children (23 months and 3 years old). The staff at the hotel were so welcoming and friendly and eased this stressful experience. Especially the friendly man at the reception was very helpful that evening and the next morning. We received a late check out and had a yummy breakfast buffet included. The little kids packs with the crayons and the stickers were great and loved by our children. Thanks again for that warm welcome!

My wife and I stayed here overnight in advance of a flight to the south island the following day. The bathroom was disgusting. There was someone's used soap in the shower. The toilet was so disgusting neither my wife nor I wanted to use it. To be fair, if we were staying for longer we'd have called the staff and I'm sure they would have reconciled our issue immediately. This review would probably be much better. However, we got in late and had to get up early to rush to the airport -- sometimes it just has to be right the first time.

We had to wait a short while before being checked in, we had a good welcome to the hotel and we were welcomed as IHG Platinum AMB members and upgraded to a King Bedded Spa room. We knew it was possible to get into the city by public transport and asked what routes could be suggested but we were assured that there wasn't a very good public transport system in Auckland but instead we were advised to use the yellow shuttle to the airport and then get the highly priced SkyBus into Auckland. The hotel is quite large and nicely decorated with attractive landscaped gardens and a reasonably sized pool. Our room was on the first floor and quite a walk from Reception and with no lifts this could be a problem for some. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king bed with a sitting area with sofa and coffee table, there was also a small balcony. There was a large wall mounted TV with a handful of channels, tea and coffee facilities and a good amount of storage space. The clock radio was useful and the aircon was reliable as the temperatures were quite high when we stayed also the wifi was free for IHG members and worked well. The bathroom was fine with a good shower and spa bath which was nice to have but the jets were quite feeble so not worth turning on, the toilet was separate from the bathroom. We used room service on one occasion which arrived within 15 mniutes and was nicely presented and the food tasted good. We also had the evening buffet which was good for the price with a varied range of dishes. We enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Auckland Airport but we were misled about the transport in Auckland and instead we were advised to use the higher priced options. It is possible to get the 380 Airporter service from the bus stop outside the hotel to the Airport. Getting into Auckland we walked to Thomas Road in Mangere and caught the 32 bus to Otahuhu Interchange which runs frequently and then we caught the train from Otahuhu to Britomart.

Location was great , Service and reception could not fault. We arrived late in Auckland from China and missed flight to Napier. We flew China Southern and they put us up a this hotel which included dinner, breakfast . This Hotel is not Modem but the room was impeccable bed comfortable and very very clean I don't think I have ever said this about any hotel I have ever stayed . I can only say this for room we had but outside in lobby and hallway that was also very clean. Breakfast great dinner great, and the service no issues at all. I stayed at this Hotel many many many years ago and the rooms were just terrible the smell of smoking Etc. But not now it is up with the high end establishments I guess when one stays at a Hotel you want it to be clean, good bedding,good food and quiet. This hotel I would rate as Modern/Retro
