Holiday Inn Auckland Airport

Departing from Auckland in an early morning long haul flight with 3 kids, the airport hotel is a must. Used my points to book this hotel. We got upgraded to a suite which was nice. The beds and bath is great. There is no separate check in desks for platinum members. Also the hotel doesn't have a lift...only 2 floors but lugging down luggage while checking out not fun. Renovation underway. They have a shuttle bus to airport which we used; costs 6$ per person.

Arriving from the airport, the first impression was not great - the hotel was under no small amount of construction, and it seemed that we were in for a bit of traveler's remorse. But the front desk was ready to with an excellent greeting, and also offered an upgraded room (nothing stellar, but more than your typical hotel room), and that made up for the mess near the front. The room itself was nice, with an interesting circular layout and separated bedroom and living space. Just down the way was a laundry room, which we were desperately in need of - unfortunately it was a bit like a closet, but it served its purpose. The center of the hotel is nicely manicured with a pool should you choose to use it (it was rather chilly, so we did not). All in all a solid airport hotel, but a bit far from the airport itself.

Be careful everybody!! I think there may live some thief in the Holiday Inn Hotel Auckland airport, New Zealand. I and wife have had a last year Christmas holiday trip to New Zealand with group on Dec.2017. On 26th Dec. after South Islands trip, we arrived in Auckland by airplane and staid the night at Holiday Inn Hotel Auckland airport. Tomorrow morning, our tour group started trip by bus heading to Napiers, southern part of North islands. Around 30 minutes after starting trip wife knew she left behind her hat in the table of the hotel room It was a gorgeous hat, Christmas gift to wife. It was a luxury hat from Australia, Helen Karminski suitable for trip to strong sunlight of New Zealand. We were very embarrassed and felt regretful if we had lost it I asked a tour leader to call on hotel to check my room a hat right now. Tour leader called hotel reception and they promised returning call the result. But there were no returning calls. I and tour leader called hotel reception 6 or 7 times the whole day. Every time hotel reception said he was to check, but in the afternoon he said responsible housekeeper checked out the hotel . At last he promised to call me after checking but only just talk. We’d come again to same hotel on 29th to return to Korea next day. I had begged again to reception. And they said same to call me after checking housekeeper but no return. Next morning I come to reception and asked again to manager. He said he knew the whole story about but there was no hat. That’s it. If the hotels have hospitality and they are innocent they surely could find it at the table of the room in just 30 minutes the guests leaving. If that time I think the housekeeper may not check the room yet. I think everybody agree with. I think there might be a thief. New Zealand has the most clean air and beautiful and exotic nature in the world. Their GDP is very high in the world over 42000 US dollars and the people are very innocent also, tour leader boasted. But I think the Holiday Inn Hotel Auckland airport have no hospitality and are not innocent. And they never kept the promise to call.

I stayed here last minute due to the late arrival of my international flight into Auckland, therefore missing my domestic connection. The airline couldn't re-ticket my flight until the next day. I booked the room on before leaving the airport and came over on the yellow bus ($6). The room was very old and run down looking but it was clean and I was so tired I just wanted to eat, shower and sleep. The bed was comfortable and there was air conditioning so you could regulate the room temperature. Breakfast was a reasonable selection of food catering to the Asian and international clientele. The hot food wasn't very hot however. Check out was very slow. A very expensive stay for what it was.

I stayed here the night my mom and I arrived in Auckland and the night before our flight out. The place really had me worried about our trip as the staff seems so miserable. When I walked in, a man (wearing a man bun) at the front counter motioned me to see the woman standing next to him. No hello, good evening, or even a simple welcome- just motioned me to talk to the woman... the check in was fine, the woman offered us a beverage and we were happy to receive the bottled water. The next morning we went to breakfast where I tried ordering an omelette with the male cook behind the counter. Three times during my order he turned and walked away from me. Finally a female cook came it and he asked her to take my order. Jus completely rude! The omelette came out wrong it included some kind of pork sausage that I didn’t order so they remade it and the second omelette was missing the chili’s that I asked for- a gal named Angelina was very sweet and apologetic and brought me a coffee to apologize. When you look around at the hotel staff in the dining area and those walking around the hotel, everyone looks miserable. No one smiles! Just miserable expressions on their faces! Pros- close to the airport and easy onsite parking, comfortable beds, decent water pressure Cons- miserable staff (with the exception of Angelina) overpriced breakfast, unreliable timing with the shuttle, slow Wi-Fi, hotel under noisy construction

Stayed at the Holiday Inn-Auckland Airport the day before my flight back to the U.S. The hotel room was very spacious and quiet and the refurbished room had a wide screen TV on the wall. The restaurant was very good. It is noted that the hotel is undergoing a major remodeling but all services are available.

We booked this place as it was close to the airport and had a regular bus service to the domestic terminal. Check in was quick and friendly. The room was standard but had sliding doora to the outside as we were on the ground floor. The room had good aircon which was a blessing with the Auckland heat!! The gym was fantastic. It had a few machines such as treadmills, bikes amd cross trainers. It also had multi function weight/exercise machine, benches, free weights, yoga mats and swiss balls. A very good gym and better than most hotels. We had the buffet dinner which was great. Lots of choice and all very tasty. They had a pool but we didnt bring swimwear which was annoying for us as the pool look inviting especially with the heat. The only thing to note was the hotel was undergoing renovations so there were workers doing their thing. It wasnt too distracting but should be noted. Overall it was a good place for an overnight stay.

Back again. Friendly efficient staff. Not your city super flash but it has a quiet niceness about it. Clean comfortable rooms and really nice gardens and pool area. Cheap easy shuttle to the nearby airport and close to major road links though you will not hear eithet of them.

The hotel rooms are nice and clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel is a construction site, but the teams have tried to do the best they can under the circumstances. Makeshift bars and areas. I caught the yellow bus from the airport and the entire trip took 45mins of waiting and then another 15 mins, then the driver stopped at the hotel across the road and told everyone he couldn’t take us to the holiday inn as he had to wait for another 12 mins until he could leave in case someone wanted to get on?? I wouldn’t recommend the Yellow bus unless you are prepared for a long wait. Better value and product around for your $$.

This hotel is a gem. I have stayed at many IHG properties all over the world and I must say that this place has been the best. You would never know you were at an airport location as surroundings and landscape were fantastic. Rooms were spotless! Gym was new and well equipped and pool spotless. Free secure onsite parking and fast internet. The restaurant had excellent food, many choices and all at reasonable prices. Staff were responsive, attentive and could not have been nicer. Will be returning here for sure. Thank you for a great stay!
