We were disappointed in the amount of space in the living room. One bedroom had a closet, but only two hangers. The other had no space to unpack, no closet or dresser. Tjhe beds were comfortable, clean, and the wifi was great. We never cooked in the room. Instead, we had great breakfasts at the nearby Bread Factory. Cabs were easy to find, in front of the nearby Wyndom Hotel. Cab fare into the tourist area is about 5E - don't pay more. Negotiate before you get in. Cab from the airport is 38E - seems to be a fixed rate. There was good air conditioning, no iron, no coffee maker. You won't go wrong staying here, but it's nothing fancy. It was only two blocks from the hop off hop on buses which you can use for transportation.
So here is where it begins.. housekeeping walks in whenever they want as they say there is a problem in the bathroom then come back again with one of the family members who own the building, again with no notice. (this is not a hotel, so no secondary lock to not let them in. they want to know what you are doing). BTW there was nothing wrong in the bathroom. We come back later to check out and are told that there is damage in the room and are shown that a wall light was loose and we caused it(WE DID NOT DAMAGE ANYTHING) and they want $50 euros to replace it. After several minutes of arguing over this with the father(owner) who doesn't speak English. We used the front desk person to translate nothing was going to change. So we were extorted an additional $50 Euros for something that was not damaged which if had checked out originally wouldn't have mattered. This place is family owned so watch what you are getting into as everyone is in on it.
Checked in to a 2 bedroom apartment at Meni Apartments, Athens recently. Clearly just been renovated with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The bedrooms were also spacious and well appointed inc their own air conditioner which were effective and quiet. The staff were nothing short of exceptional inc arranging to pick ud up from the airport due to a taxi strike. When our hot water wasnt running on day 4, the mgt quickly addressed the issue. There is a laundromat across the road where for onky 10 euros, you get a whole load washed, pressed and delivered back to your hotel within 2 hours. Only 5 mins walk to train and hop on hop off buses, which I also recommend. As it is on the outskirts of the cbd(5 kms away at the most), food was so much cheaper and we enjoyed eating with the locals. The hotel also has a small bar and coffee machine on the ground level and for only 1.5 euros, we enjoyed a Greek coffee every morning. Lastly George, the owner, is an absolute character who clearly is proud of his staff and hotel. You will find him sitting outside on one of the small table settings, enjoying a wine and ready to welcome you. Only small negative (but not atypical of hotels in Europe, the lift fits 2 people at best at a time so it was a little challenging getting luggage to the higher levels. Wonderful experience. Can't wait to return.
The Meni Apartments in Athens are clean and spacious. However, you do have to get past their small lobby to the even smaller elevator (its tight for one person with 2 pieces of luggage). The front desk receptionists were very helpful with maps and advice for traveling in Athens. The chain-smoking owner, who wasn't customer oriented, is the biggest downside of the establishment... we didn't deal with him often. The stairwell smelled smoky but the apartments were nice and smoke-free. For the cost, the Meni Apartments are an economical, clean option close to the metro and hop on hop off buses (great for getting to the Acropolis and surrounding attractions). Stay aware of your surroundings as it is located in a metropolitan city where pickpockets thrive on unsuspecting tourists. There were 4 couples in our group and we didn't feel threatened at all-just stayed aware of our surroundings. A side note: catch the metered taxis - rides to Athens city center should be no more than 5 euros.
We stayed here for three nights while doing a very quick tour of Athens. The apartments are exceptionally clean and well furnished. Be warned that the elevator is quite small and only one person and maybe two bags can go up at a time. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Mariangela and the guys were exceptionally nice and helpful. This place is especially good for families. There is laundry located across the street where you can get a load of clothes done for €10 (wash, dry, fold and iron). This is almost to travelers dream and the people at the laundry are exceptionally nice. The apartment is located in a working-class neighborhood and is about three blocks from a supermarket and about 1 1/2 blocks from a very good bakery and the hop on hop off bus stop, as well as the subway station. We walked around at night in the neighborhood and did not feel uncomfortable at all. I read some reviews where people felt uncomfortable walking at night, but we did not experience this. This is one of those places that was warm and friendly and you did not feel that you were in a strange place. I would definitely return here and I’m already starting to plan on returning. Again, I would recommend it especially for families, but we were a couple and enjoyed it immensely.
Meni Apartments are near Metaxourghio Metro. They are clean and comfortable. We had a two bedroom apartment. The apartment owners and front desk are an invaluable source of information and local knowledge. Our requests were answered courteously and inquiries were met with prompt service. The apartment lay out is fine for a short stay. Our rooms were cleaned on the second day and thereafter when required. Overall we had a great stay.
We've been there for a long week-end with the kids. The apartments have two separate bedrooms, bathroom and a kitchen fully furnished. Great position for sightseeing, being so close to the tube; there are several markets and minimarket for food shopping. It's a very good solution for people who want to have a proper house even for few days; the area needs some fresh investments and that's another good reason to choose Meni Apartments, the owners (a family) made a good job renovating the building, took the risk and they deserve to have the effort recognised. They are extremely nice and helpful, always giving good suggestion for either a restaurant or a tour; also they serve a great, fresh, lovingly home made breakfast thst will make you start your day in the best possible way. It has been a pleasure to stay there.
We paid £243 for 4 nights in February 2018 and were very happy with the value. Our apartment had a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, shower room and a hall with seats which was like a little lounge. There was also a dinning table that could be put up. There was also a little balcony. Both bedrooms had a big TV - only one English news channel. There was also a big stereo. Loads of towels and cleaning every 2 days. Very small lift or stairs. Not fancy but quite modern and all we needed. Reception kind of let the place down as quite run down and VERY smoke smelling which really bothered me. Room did not smell at all though. Great location - very close to metro and the hop on hop off bus. Best thing may have been The Bread Factory. A 24 source of drinks, baked goods and home made meals. We brought dinner and breakfasts here to eat in the apartment. I would recommend and stay again.
The apartment/hotel rooms are great. 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. The beds are really the best I have ever had on vacation! The Metro is only 2 min away, and is easy to travel with. We lived on the 3rd floor and the elevator is hilarious 😆, it only fits 2 people - no suitcases. The young lady in the reception was so sweet and helpful, thanks for that, There is only one thing to complain about. The two men sitting inside at or by the reception were smoking absolutely ALL THE TIME. Both me and my husband used to be smokers and are usually not bothered with the smell, but this was really awful! The smell sticker inside the room/apartment at all times of our visit (day and night). If there were not the smell of smoke, we would give the rating of 5 +
We spent 4 nights here. 6 Adults, 2 bedrooms and twin fold out bed in lounge area. Only one bathroom. Friendly staff, room was clean and close to netro a big plus. It is in a ordinary part of town. Has a 2 person lift which was very small. Suitable for all ages. Mini mart 2mins away.
