We just returned from a wonderful trip to Costa Rica. Our first four nights were spent at Elements near Lake Arenal. This rental was amazing. We had a group of 16 from age 1 to age 93 – there was plenty of room for everyone to have a space and a bathroom. The views were incredible – and it was nice to have the hot tubs and pool at the end of the day. We had Origens (Candy and Isabel) cook for us – they did breakfasts and dinners and packed lunches. The meals were delicious and varied and the desserts were yummy. Celeste helped us figure out and plan our days before we got there. Most of our attendees spent two days in the La Fortuna area rafting, rappelling, enjoying the hot springs, walking the Mistico hanging bridges, and doing a coffee/chocolate tour. On our last day, we had Celeste and her friend Lori do a breathwork and yoga class on site then went kayaking on the lake, at lunch in Lake Arenal and walked around, and did a night nature tour. The house managers Isaac and Brooke are great, as was Pedro, our main driver. We've stayed in a lot of VRBOs and this one definitely stands out.

Place was absolutely amazing! Could not have asked for a better space or view. Even better, Coltin is by far the best property manager we’ve ever had at a rental. Not only was he there to help with the house but he and Celeste gave great recommendations on tours and even local restaurants. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!!

Amazing Stay for Friends and Family

We went for my wife's 40th birthday with multiple families with kids. It was a perfect venue and stay that was closer to the Liberia airport vs Fortuna. We had Tucans on the property, parrots, and plenty of beautiful birds. There is enough distance from each of the villas that gave you some privacy, but close enough to also feel together easily. One issue you can run into in being in the jungle is bugs, but there were no mosquitos or any issues at all staying here, definitely nothing in the houses either. Nuevo Arenal is the local town about 10 min down the road, with some great food options and local stores to get provisions as needed. Definitely more locals and low key, which was nice. The host, Coltin, was phenomenal. We had several issues arise, including forgetting an important bag at the rental car agency at the airport, and Coltin was there to help and use local connections to get it all solved (even went to pickup the bag himself!). He also arranged special cake for the birthday, balloons, and was incredibly responsive. 10/10 for him. Overall, great experience.

Great vacation

Maria was a great host. She booked us a couple excursions for a discounted rate, answered all our questions, made recommendations, and was very accommodating. And her English is good which was helpful because our Spanish is no bueno ;). Lake Arenal is beautiful and we enjoyed the small town but it was quite a drive to all our excursions in La Fortuna. Maria was there to greet us at check-in. The property was really pretty and well landscaped. The Enchanted Cottage felt private. It had all the essential appliances and cooking utensils. We wish we would have had a couple staple items like cooking oil and salt/pepper but nothing a quick trip to town the next day couldn’t fix. The cottage could use some cosmetic updating and the bed was a little harder than I would prefer. We loved hearing the birds and rain and just relaxing in between excursions. The Wi-Fi was good and they have cable TV. Very nice hosts, cute town, good restaurants nearby, private and clean cottage, pretty property! Thank you!

Family Anniversary Vacation

Our family of seven spent four wonderful days at Arsenal Springs. We occupied two of the villas, Casa Grande and Casa Primera. The grounds and the views were beautiful! The Casa Grande had the had the most spectacular views. Maria Louisa was very friendly and hospitable. Chef Nixon catered a dinner for us one night. The food was wonderful and we all enjoyed his and his cousin’s service and humor. One suggestion: comfortable patio and pool furniture would have made the experience even better. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Fantastic property with spectacular view

We had such a great time! Property is absolutely beautiful set on hillside overlooking the lake. Villas were all very clean and unique, perfect for our group of 15 including 7 young kids. Tons of nearby activities in rainforest, volcanoes and towns. We also had the private chef cook several dinners and breakfasts. All the food was fantastic, great to stay in after days out exploring!

Extended family getaway

The property was stunning. We were a party of 14 and used all of the villa's. The hill to get to the top house was a steep one but made for a good workout. The houses were all filled with towels, toilet paper and soap and were all very clean. Maria helped with each and every request and question we had making our visit a spectacular one.

Charming Costa Rica Mountain Home with Lake and Mountain views

Our family had a great time here and Maria and Tom were wonderful and responsive hosts (even texting and meeting us late at night on our arrival as we did have a little trouble finding the gate in the dark). The home is colorful, cheery and bright with local accent touches (paintings, rugs, artwork) that really give a feel of being in Costa Rica. We had daily adventures in La Fortuna and up to Rio Celeste - all are a bit of a drive from the home but we did feel central to explore the area. Also, coming home to the pool, view and waking up to the birds and flowers made us feel very at home away from home. Thank you Maria and Tom for a lovely stay!!!

Beyond expectations

Tropical paradise. There are four separate villas on this property. We rented all four, but you may rent them separately. Maid service is provided for fresh linens during your stay. The host speaks English and Spanish and is warm, welcoming, and helpful. We opted not to rent a car, and the host arranged for van transport for us for day trips to La Fortuna and LaPaz. And also to and from the airport. All the villas are well equipped, clean, and quaintly furnished. One thing to be aware of is that two of the villas are at the top of a pretty steep hill, and the other two are further down. Both have beautiful views of Lake Arenal, but if your party is using both, be aware that it is a challenging trek up that driveway. We were eight 70 year olds, and we were able to do it, but something to be aware of. (The pool is near the bottom two villas.). All in all, we absolutely loved this place.

Even more beautiful than the photos

We had a wonderful stay at the Arenal Springs Villa. The property is even more beautiful than the photos, and Thomas, Maria, and their team are so kind and helpful. One day a few members of our group were taking a walk around the property and the gardener cut down fresh grapefruit for them. It made their whole trip! The property is about an hour away from the major Arenal attractions, but the drive is beautiful, and it was worth it for us to be able to stay altogether in such a beautiful villa.

Rainforest Beauty

Let me start off by saying this property is absolutely stunning, the grounds are located on a beautiful hillside that overlooks Arenal Lake. We were a group of 13 and occupied the Casa Primera & Casa Grande. A true getaway, we felt totally secluded. The host was very helpful and gave me suggestions on things to do and the info for a private chef. There is nothing close by so the private chef was one of the best recommendations, Chef Nixon was phenomenal! If you want a private quiet getaway look no further. The home has a lovely pool and there is good hiking areas all around. Speaking of getting around the closest “grocery” store is about a 10 minute drive. There are cabs, however they can be a bit pricey. We hired shuttles to take us back and forth. If you want to go anywhere, rent a car or schedule shuttles ahead of time. As mentioned cabs are pretty readily available but for large groups may prove difficult to find. A group of 4 of us needed to run to the closest store, the cost was $40 round trip. We decided to do a few excursions in the area (waterfall rappelling, white water rafting and thermal pools). All the excursions we chose were located closer to Fortuna, which is about 1.5 hour drive away. More about the home: sparkling clean w beautiful design and architecture. Lots of kitchen essentials (plates, utensils, cups, coffee maker). Pool and bath towels. And a washer and dryer in each home. You also get great exercise walking up and down the steep hill to go from house to house. There is also a hot tub that would have been lovely to use during our stay, however it was broken the whole time we were there.

It was a good stay

I would like to say that the property is great. If you are a big family then you have 3 different villas and small room with bath that can satisfy your needs. They are a little further apart but walkable if you are a hiker. The host is awesome and always available. Only bummer was there was no internet throughout the stay and you have bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Also this listing is about an hour away from arenal downtown and hence we had to shuttle and lose 2 hours everyday that we wanted to go to arenal for activities.

Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake is beautiful with amazing views!

We were a group of 18, aged from 3 to 78 y/o, and we occupied all 4 villas. All of the houses were clean and well-kept. One thing to note is that the main kitchen is well stocked with dinnerware and glasses but a little less so for pots, pans etc. if you plan on cooking for a large group. Maria was excellent; she provided caterers for meals at the house, reservations for all of us at restaurants in the area, and provided great tour recommendations. We went to the Springs Resort and it was incredible! We also did some mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining, and canyoning. They were all great with the canyoning being the most memorable! There were a few things that were less than ideal. It turned out the hot tub wasn’t working when we arrived, and they were not able to repair it during the week of our stay. This was quite disappointing since having access to a hot tub was part of the reason we booked this property. Also, we had a lot of trouble with the internet at either of the houses at the top of the hill (Casa Grande & Casa Bella Vista). That being said, it was still a great property and an amazing experience!

Very pretty and unique

A variety of properties in a gated area viewing Lake Arenal. Was a little disappointed that there was no AC. Our hostess explained that at the altitude we were at the nights were in the 60s. Combined with the ceiling fans we were pretty comfortable. The views of Lake Arenal were fabulous and the jungle like rain forest was magical. Hard rains can happen without warning day or night but the result is foliage that defies description. Furnishings were beautiful and functional. The big house was amazing to say the least. All were nicely equipped throughout. But the experience was made extra special by the warmth and generosity of Tom and Maria. We became friends in a short period of time.

Perfect for family trips!

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. We were a group of 17, including three that are 7 and under. We were able to visit beautiful national parks nearby. However, one of my family's absolutely FAVORITE thing to do, was to sit outside in the patio, overlooking the rolling hill and beautiful gardens. Every day we would see several toucans, parrots, humming birds and many other birds. From the property, you can also see monkeys playing in the trees. This was all an absolute treat! Our family hired a chef to cook breakfast and dinner at the property. This worked out great for us, since our large group did not need to worry about finding restaurants that would cater to such a large group at once. Mary and Tom were great hosts and helped us with all we needed. Check-in and check-out was super easy! This is a great place to visit! We highly recommend it!

Birds eye views

Our 3 months vacation at Arenal Springs was a delight. Everything we thought it would be and more! Views were spectacular. Our host helped with touring arrangements which simplified the process. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing experience. I highly recommend Arenal Springs, Casa Grande, to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation.
