A cosy cottage set in a lovely location with a wonderful log burner, pup friendly and very clean throughout. Coffee, tea, fruit, mince pies and milk for when we arrived. A real Christmas tree fully decorated (we stayed over Christmas), owners went above and beyond so highly recommended.

The cottage is well located and comfortable for a short stay.

The cottage is well located and comfortable for a short stay. It reminded me of my late grandparents' houses in terms of decor and furniture. Negatives: Some areas of thorough cleaning needed (for example cobwebs, behind furniture) House dated in some areas (for example colour scheme in the bathroom) Bathroom lock very difficult to apply Broken outdoor furniture Missing light bulbs from some lights No wardrobe in the master bedroom The kitchen is well equipped but is limited on space when everyone is using the kitchen table. Positives Location immediately next to the river (evidence of flooding though!) and a short drive or walk from Appleby and for either Eden Valley or Lake District Generally well equipped (for example slow cooker, two sets of plates, bowls & mugs) Ample parking Large lounge Suitable for rainy days (although no internet - which could be positive or negative!) Wonderful cottage.

Wonderful cottage. Perfect for hiding away from the noisy fireworks at home. Love the fact that we didn't have a mobile signal until we left the village. Will definitely be back.

Very pleasant cottage and lovely helpful owner I would prefer if the let cottage garden could have been separated from the owners Also some instructions on how to work the oven However these things are achievable and a quick fix especially the oven Didn’t spoil our stay just took a bit of effort on my part to work oven out Overall a very comfortable cottage Will need to be upgraded in the future to give access to more square pin electric sockets Don’t let this put you off as generally it is a very nice place to stay with a lovely owner

Beck Cottage was amazing.

Beck Cottage was amazing. It was so lovely to have a cottage where we could take all of our 3 dogs. The space is fantastic, a lovely big kitchen with everything you need, a really warm lounge with a log burner if you wish. The bed rooms are perfectly sized and the shower really hot and effective. The other added bonus is the entrance via the car port, perfect place to get dry and mud off before entering the house. The host was great and although their house is only next door she left us very much to our own devices. The location is just outside Appleby so obviously you have to travel a little to get to a pub or the shop but I'm pretty sure you would be picking the cottage for its amazing location in a peaceful village so that shouldn't put you off. There are so many great walks just out of the door, including a beautiful one to Hoff and Rutter Falls. We also traveled a bit further afield and went to High Force, Cow Green Resevoir and High Cup Nick. Appleby is a nice walk away too but we would recommend avoiding the stepping stones but for all the most agile! We ended up doing a bit of a damp river crosssing :)
