We stayed in the YAYS Apartments for three nights. We stayed in the ground floor duplex two bedroom apartment. The apartment is modern spacious, clean and comfortable. the kitchen is kitted out with everything you need. We ate breakfast and dinner in the apartment. The other great thing about the apartment is it's only two stops from the Main Train station in Amsterdam on the 48 bus in the direction “Houthavens”, and then a short walk. The apartment is also very close to the end of the number 3 tram line. From the end of the line to the museum quarter is only a 20 min journey. The only slight negative issue is that in the two bedroom apartment there's only one toilet. When you're with five people that can at times be a little annoying. However, you do get used to it in the end!
We stayed at the YAYs hotel in 2016 and enjoyed every minute of it. Staff were friendly, the building and room we had was stunning. It made our stay in Amsterdam pleasant and we can't wait to come back.
We stayed for 4 nights in a one bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor with our daughter’s family right below. The apartments are huge, quiet, well stocked, modern and comfortable. A five minute walk got us to a great market. It’s located at the northern end of Jordaan, the most charming walking area in Amsterdam. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions, directions, even calling a taxi for the airport. Though there’s a tablet in each room that included guides for the appliances, I hadn’t realized. As an American, I was baffled by the cooktop, oven and washer drier. Read the instructions or ask the staff. Loved the nespresso machine as well
We were given a room on the top floor with a large vaulted ceiling which would have been lovely had the heating been working (we visited end November). When we complained we were offered an alternative apartment but the other one we were offered didn’t feel any warmer so we stayed put. Our apartment seemed dark too as there was insufficient lighting for such a large room and the lights over the cooker didn’t work either so it was just as well we hadn’t planned on cooking. The apartment is a good 35 min walk to the centre of town so be prepared to walk if you stay here. Having said all this, it’s one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in Amsterdam and would have rated higher had the heating worked! The local neighbourhood was lovely and there were lots of places to eat and drink. Well located if you want to be away from the usual Amsterdam stuff.
Perfectly located outside of the really busy centre of Amsterdam this was just a fantastic place to be for accessing all the attractions. Only a short walk from the number 3 tram (takes your straight to the museum quarter and Vondelpark) and the 48 bus (goes via central station and accesses the eastern side of the city) this worked really well during our 5 night stay. The rooms are really spacious with a good sized bedroom and large living and dining area (we paid slightly more for a canal view room which was definitely worth it). Check in and out was easy and the staff were always available to help regardless of the query. The map provided and the dinner recommendations were really handy especially when you first arrive after 24 hours of travelling and just need to get something in you. Thoroughly recommend for anyone looking to see the sights of Amsterdam but wanting some quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
We just back from staying. We didn t want to go home we loved Amsterdam. We arrived to the apartment just before check in and apartment was ready. Greeted by vivene who was very chatty and friendly welcoming. Was very helpful with questions. Showed us to our lovely clean comfortable apartment was very spacious. Only downside being in apartment with being self catering had no oven gloves and few other utensils like chopping board but we managed. It had its own tablet as a guide for using oven, microwave etc which we used was great. Great comfortable bed!!! We used public transport mostly bus which was 2 stops from town centre so handy. Apartments in a quieter residential area it's just lovely. Would highly recommend staying here
We're overdue reviewing here as we stayed here during the first week after opening, but we still wanted to leave our review after having such a great experience here. We had two apartments as we travelled as two groups of four. The apartments are perfectly positioned, having a cup of coffee on the waterside is how I wish I could start every day. The apartments were so fresh in both decor and cleanliness, and just such a calming space to stay in what at times can be a bustling city. We couldn't recommend this place higher, and if we're back in Amsterdam anytime soon, we wouldn't consider booking anywhere else.
We stayed for 2 nights whilst in Amsterdam to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary. The end-to-end experience from reservation to Check in & check out was seamless. The apartments are set right on the canal in a pretty residential area. It's about a 30 minute walk from Dam Square. We arrived on a brisk but sunny day and found the walk pleasant as you pass through pretty residential streets. For us it was great to see another side to Amsterdam and mix with the locals. It's a really interesting area. There is a pretty square surrounded by boutique shops and cafes about a 5-10 minute walk away. We had a lovely breakfast at "The Breakfast Club". Pack some comfortable shoes if, like us you plan to walk. We found it quite chilly walking back from the centre at night with it being November but otherwise staying a little further out from the centre is actually really nice as you see lovely areas you wouldn't normally venture into. We saw mum's and dads strolling with their children, local people working & going about their day. It's a peaceful area but not too far from things to do. See the photos I've attached of the bookcase on the sane streer as the apartment. We spied locals borrowing books from the case - how adorable is this! Audrey checked us in and couldn't have been more friendly & helpful. We walked into our lovely clean apartment to find a good bottle of red wine and a note wishing us a happy anniversary. A lovely personal touch! The apartment was great. The bed really comfty. Plenty of towels, toiletries and an extra duvet and extra pillows. It's compact but big enough and has everything you need. There's a TV and a sofa that can be used as a sofa bed. The reception area is lovely. The one thing that surprised us was how friendly all the concierge were. It's not a hotel but we really felt it had that personalised hotel vibe. Whenever we returned to the apartments the staff always had a smile and a friendly hello. I don't know their names but the black guy with the fabulous smile and the young oriental girl & her young blonde colleague - all so full of personality, friendly & professional. Please give them this feedback. They are a credit to YAYS! We always felt secure in the apartments due to the concierge/24 reception area - something you wouldn't ordinarily get in any other apartment. I really like the YAYS Brand. We loved the fact you get a little booklet and map when you check in with recommendations of places in the area to visit. There is an iPad in the apartment which has lots of useful info on. Another great thing is that once we paid up front there were no other extras or hidden fees. We didn't even need to pay a security deposit which so many other apartments make you do. We felt overall our stay was great value for money & whilst some people may see the less than super central location as a negative, it totally worked for us and added to our enjoyment of Amsterdam. Highly recommended & will definitely return. Thank you for making our anniversary so special & well done YAYS!
Immerse yourself in the neighbourhood in which you stay and "live like a local", away from the hussle and bussle, yet with great reliable transport links of trams or bus, or even only a 20-25 minute walk away from Amsterdam Central, YAYS Zoutkeetsgracht is located on a canal in a lovely residential area. Quiet, comfortable and in a wonderful building, you are greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly team on reception. Places to leave luggage if you arrive early, the apartment was spacious, comfortable and more importantly spotlessly clean. Having stayed in serviced apartments in many different cities, the apartment itself was fabulous. Overlooking the canal at the front of the building, a large comfortable bed with wonderful pillows (and lots of them!) was a welcome sight. The seating area is comfortable with TV and seating, modern decoration which doesn't take away from the natural design of the building itself. A mixture of modern and traditional. Light in colours and large windows make the seating area bright and airy. Lots of windows to open. Kitchen with facilities, a shower with hairdryer right by the mirror (which was great!) and a fabulous coffee machine in reception as well as being able to make it in your own room. Night staff were as friendly as those who greeted us in the day, and went out of their way to help. Excellent service which truly helps make a stay, whether it is for one night or more. Highly recommend these apartments for a stay in Amsterdam, great location, live like a local, yet easy reach to the main city!
Where do I start? Our love affair with yays started in September 2015. My boyfriend had surprised me with a birthday trip to Amsterdam, knowing that it was my favorite city in the world. Having lived in Amsterdam and visited numerous times, I had never stayed in a concierged apartment before. I was extremely pleased with the whole experience. So much so that we stayed again in 2016 and will be arriving back in a couple of weeks (November 2017). I think we have stayed in both apartment 3 and apartment 1, both were fabulous. Clean, modern decor with tasteful furniture. The comfiest bed and great use of space. The staff are lovely and happy to give you as much information on the local area and beyond as you wish. It is so close to tram number 3 stop from Zoutkeetsgracht which takes you all over. It's reliable, quick and easy. We rented bikes and even got the free ferry over to Amsterdam Noord to sample some amazing restaurants. This area is packed with industrial renovation with some really cool places to dine. You can take a lovely walk straight to the center of town via Haarlemmerplein and down Haarlemmerdijk, which is a beautiful street filled with boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Try the Breakfast club, De pizzabakkers and cafe De Blauwe Druif in this area. We rented bikes and explored Westerpark and the local neighborhood. It's peaceful, quaint and feels really homely. We felt completely immersed in our surroundings. There is no hustle, no tacky tourism- just the best kind, a relaxed and picturesque area to explore. The night staff were lovely, even when we came home after a few too many bubbles he offered us bottles of water and gave us recommendations on where to go for breakfast the next day. The only one issue we had was that upon our second visit we found some hair in the bed. This may have been a housekeepers hair when changing the sheets. As soon as we informed reception, someone came to change all the sheets for us and hoover the apartment. It was dealt with very professionally and promptly. The whole concept of yays is fantastic. It allows people to feel connected to the environment they are staying in. Its far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you almost feel like you're in a different place, but close enough access all areas of the city. I would recommended to buy a pass for the trams and rent the bikes or just get lost by walking around. The locals a friendly and welcoming. You can purchase groceries, snacks and wine from Haarlemerplein as there is an Albert Heijn (groceries), Hema (department store), and Gall & Gall (off licence) .Take a wonder through the beautiful area of Jordaan and don't be afraid to explore. Other restaurants or bars I would recommend are: Loetje aan 't IJ, De Gouden Reael and Pikoteo. Yays is the perfect place to stay. It clearly notes that there are no services. It's not a hotel, it's an apartment. So please ignore the fussy complainers on here. We love yays so much that we cannot wait to return in a few weeks to celebrate our anniversary. I have no doubt that it will be even better than the last two visits. So excited!
