The service here was efficient. The rooms are small, but well laid out. They are clean and well presented. The location is quite convenient, especially for visitors to KIT. It is excellent value for the money. The breakfast is fine.
I stayed here with my sister for 3 nights and I couldn't fault the stay, staff were very friendly and the hotel is located in a convinent location. The tram station is right outside the hotel and there are great hotels and restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Amsterdam.
Tropen Hotel is not in the bustling tourist area, but it is comfortable and convenient, and very close to public transportation (a tram runs nearby) and a very good medium-sized museum, the Tropenmuseum. The rooms are simply but comfortably decorated, the bed is comfortable, and the room is equipped with a pot for making tea or coffee. My room had a gorgeous view of the canal. The hotel has a cafe where a generous breakfast is served, but there are also many restaurants nearby. Service is quiet but efficient.
I stayed this time with a group of colleagues. The Hotel is albeit classified as 3 star, but in all ways really deserves more stars. The location is slightly off center but there is a tram stop right outside and it is only 10 minutes to the center. The hotel is an older building but modernized and faces the Tropen park and museum with lovely views from the rooms. The rooms were reasonably sized for Europe with comfortable beds, good TV system, good shower with plenty of hot water and clean and with good noise insulation. Breakfast wasn't grand but plentiful with a good choice on the whole and delicious fresh breads. A very good coffee machine too. The reception staff were polite and helpful. I stayed 4 nights and would come again and bring my family too.
Stayed here on two occasions for a couple of days each, close to my daughter's student residence. Great location only 10- 15 minutes into city center via two tram lines. Love the neighborhood, street market close by and outside the tourist zone so feels like real Amsterdam. Hotel staff are lovely and very friendly. Associated with the Tropen Museum next door so has a bit of a tropical flavor to decor. Park right next door
We stayed here for 3 nights in October, this was the second time of staying in this hotel. Don't be put off by your first impressions of the outside of the hotel!! The inside is spotless and modern!! Access into the center of Amsterdam is very easy. From Centraal station jump on the number 9 tram for 10 mins and the stop is 'Lindestraat' which stops just outside the hotel. The rooms are small but again modern and very clean. Everything you need for a city break in Amsterdam. There is a room safe free of charge, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Ask for a city view room on your booking if possible, we stayed on the 10th floor overlooking the city and the views are just incredible (see photo from the bedroom window). The reception staff are very friendly and helpful - we hope to see you again soon :-)
My husband and i are just back from a 3 night stay in this hotel. When we arrived we first thought it was too far out but then found the tram stop right outside front of hotel that had trams running very frequently. We only slept in hotel and i have to say the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds i have ever slept in. Rooms were very clean and clean towels daily. The only negative thing i could say about this hotel was it had a very small toilet, but this wasn't a problem for us. The shower was separate from the toilet and had a great shower with plenty of hot water. The walkway between the wardrobe and toilet/shower area of room again was narrow but again not a great problem. Room had a lovely view of the park next to it. It was very quiet at night. The hotel rented out bikes to their visitors for €25 for 3 days we chose trams i stead if bikes and purchased the ticket from the hitel reception. The receptiin area was always manned by extremely nice helpful staff. We found a few nice places in the morning to have breakfast very close by before jumping on the tram to take us to the central station where we could get anywhere from there. Over all had a fantastic stay un Amsterdam. Hotel was great wuth everythung we needed wiuld definitely use this this hotel again and recommend it to others.
I stayed with family in Amsterdam Tropen Hotel from 18 to 20 Sep 2017.The location of the hotel and the overall settings were very good. The staff at the reception were very courteous and were very helpful in guiding on local trips and tickets for museums, trams etc.The rooms were sufficiently furnished and neat, with good view outside. The staff at the dining hall for breakfast were also very good. The breakfast spread is good
Hotel could be good if management paid attention to the small detail. Smell on the 8th floor of stuffiness and dirty carpets. Room had no basics such as slippers and had a lot of visible dust under the wooden cabinets.
again very satisfied, close to city center, friendly staff, parking space available, room quite big, good viev, I miss a good Dining restaurant overall clean, good value for the room charges payed. thank you
