We stayed here for 3 nights in October, this was the second time of staying in this hotel. Don't be put off by your first impressions of the outside of the hotel!! The inside is spotless and modern!! Access into the center of Amsterdam is very easy. From Centraal station jump on the number 9 tram for 10 mins and the stop is 'Lindestraat' which stops just outside the hotel. The rooms are small but again modern and very clean. Everything you need for a city break in Amsterdam. There is a room safe free of charge, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Ask for a city view room on your booking if possible, we stayed on the 10th floor overlooking the city and the views are just incredible (see photo from the bedroom window). The reception staff are very friendly and helpful - we hope to see you again soon :-)

My husband and i are just back from a 3 night stay in this hotel. When we arrived we first thought it was too far out but then found the tram stop right outside front of hotel that had trams running very frequently. We only slept in hotel and i have to say the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds i have ever slept in. Rooms were very clean and clean towels daily. The only negative thing i could say about this hotel was it had a very small toilet, but this wasn't a problem for us. The shower was separate from the toilet and had a great shower with plenty of hot water. The walkway between the wardrobe and toilet/shower area of room again was narrow but again not a great problem. Room had a lovely view of the park next to it. It was very quiet at night. The hotel rented out bikes to their visitors for €25 for 3 days we chose trams i stead if bikes and purchased the ticket from the hitel reception. The receptiin area was always manned by extremely nice helpful staff. We found a few nice places in the morning to have breakfast very close by before jumping on the tram to take us to the central station where we could get anywhere from there. Over all had a fantastic stay un Amsterdam. Hotel was great wuth everythung we needed wiuld definitely use this this hotel again and recommend it to others.

I stayed with family in Amsterdam Tropen Hotel from 18 to 20 Sep 2017.The location of the hotel and the overall settings were very good. The staff at the reception were very courteous and were very helpful in guiding on local trips and tickets for museums, trams etc.The rooms were sufficiently furnished and neat, with good view outside. The staff at the dining hall for breakfast were also very good. The breakfast spread is good

Hotel could be good if management paid attention to the small detail. Smell on the 8th floor of stuffiness and dirty carpets. Room had no basics such as slippers and had a lot of visible dust under the wooden cabinets.

again very satisfied, close to city center, friendly staff, parking space available, room quite big, good viev, I miss a good Dining restaurant overall clean, good value for the room charges payed. thank you

The environment is fantastic because it's near from a very beautiful park. The tram stop is just 2 minutes from the hotel and the town center is 10 minutes away by tram. It's perfect because we love in a quiet neighborhood.

the hotel might not be right at the center, but it's in front the best restaurant we ate! also, theres a coffeeshop nearby and the tram is 20 m from the entrance. great price for a great hotel, thank you!

clean but a bit tatty, good location. no access to fire escape unless doors unlocked by reception. staff very friendly. great to be walking distance to centre and next to beautiful park. room good size

The hotel was excellent! Very comfy bed, excellent breakfast, good view, nice staff. Only problem is the shower's head flow is week. We enjoyed the location, 20 minutes walk from the center, quite neighbourhood.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Tropen. Amsterdam hotels are very expensive and from the TA reviews many are definitely not worth the money. My husband chose this hotel. Don't be deceived by the view of the exterior. It's beautiful inside. Lovely public areas to relax in with gorgeous views of the park. Very welcoming after the hustle bustle of Amsterdam. Room on 4th floor was modern and a good size with a view of the Tropen museum next door. Very clean. Tea and coffee facilities in room which is unusual on the Continent. Didn't have breakfast as thought Euros 15 per person was a bit steep. Tram line number 9 stops right outside the hotel and only takes 15 minutes to Central Station. All the places you want to see easily accesible along this route. We bought a 3 day public transport pass for Euros 17 each which was excellent value. Hop on hop off canal trip was lovely. Much better value than the 1 hour cruises offered. Amsterdam was not as grand as I expected and very busy. Very expensive too. We took a 30 train trip to Utrecht. Beautiful traditional Dutch town. Shoppers paradise!
