Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam - South3.0 out of 5.0

My 2nd time here and my third will be later this week. Attentive and helpful staff, clean rooms, and comfortable accommodations for my biggish build (6'3" 270lb) - all for a nice price. About 30-45 minutes by tram outside the city center, but requires no train switching and the tram stop is barely a block away. Grocery store and little shops within a block. Cold beer and snacks at hotel for reasonable prices. Small bar at front desk, staff usually playing bartender with some guests in the evenings, making everybody feel at home, nice little touch I haven't seen before. FYI, If you want a hearty breakfast go out to eat. It's a pretty basic continental affair. The coffee machine makes nice macchiatos.
The hotel is located in the Amsterdam South Area and is close to the tram and metro line (just a couple of minutes walk). There is also a super market (Jumbo) within a short walk which helps one in picking up essentials and some yummy bakery items. The Hotel itself is not very large which gives the comfort of a home stay. The team there make you really feel welcome and even shout a big hello when you enter the main entrance.Alejandra,Inge, Mary Ann, Michelle, Megan and Chavi will assist you most willingly in all your needs and queries. They will recommend what to do, where to eat and also help in the reservations, Its a concierge, reception and bar all rolled into one. In fact you can sit on the side of the reception counter and they will fix you a drink from the bar located behind. The rooms are not too large but yet you do not feel suffocated and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are functional with a strong shower and housekeeping is good. The TV is well postioned and has a good number of channels even for a non Dutch speaking traveller. They have a complimentary continental breakfast with some amazing croissants every morning. Though there is no restaurant attached, you can walk to a couple of them located nearby for a hearty meal. The reception will also arrange for food deliveries from a host of restaurants and will provide you the menus. On the whole, a very hearty place, warm and inviting and if alone, the team would be most happy to chat up with you when you have a drink at the reception bar. The Wifi is exceptionally good and available throughout the property. Being only a 20 minutes drive from the airport and yet a 20 minutes tram ride to the museums and the City Centre, you have a Inn where you can check out anytime but wouldnt want to leave!!!!
Had a stay in Amsterdam in this nice hotel... good room, professional service and a fair price.. the breakfast was ok... sure it is not in the center, but when you want to spend a silent weekend, it’s perfectly located
Receptionists are welcoming and patient. We received a detailed explanation of shops, transportation, recommendations for sites and restaurants. every day We received a clean and tidy room with amenities, a well-equipped shower, soaps The dining room is cozy and clean and provides a full breakfast for kosher people. cheese, eeg, bread, vegetables, kaurosons. Disposable tools. hotel location is excellent! 2 minutes walk from the train station. Adjacent to a shopping center. The hotel is in a Jewish environment. Close to a synagogue. Kosher supermarket, kosher pizzeria and kosher mafia. Everything is accessible and comfortable. There you can also buy readyfood. On Shabbat, the hotel allowed us to eat Shabbat meals in the dining room. Supplied candles and a kettle . for keeping the food you can use the reception fridge for sure we will stay again in this hotel .highly recommend to Israelis
Arriving hungry after a delayed flight, this wasn't the hotel for me. I wanted room service, or a quick bite at the bar - This hotel can offer neither. However, if this is not a service you require and you simply want a comfortable enough room, a hot shower and a standard breakfast before you set off for the day I would consider it. Reception staff are really welcoming and helpful at pointing you in the right direction if you want something to eat or are just wanting to grab a few bits from the local supermarket - all within walking distance.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express during August 2017 for 4 nights. The reception staff are very friendly and the hotel light and airy. We had a room on the ground floor. It was reasonable with a half sofa and chair and a large double bed. There are no bath tubs but there was a large walk-in shower which was good (although I much prefer a bath). They provide a good Kosher breakfast (included in the room price) and also a Shabbat Kettle for those who will not boil water on the Sabbath. This was used by a number of the guests to make tea/coffee during the day ! It is much more expensive than similar hotels in England (we paid about £130 per night b and b). My one grouse was that there are no safes in the room. This makes it difficult if you are travelling from abroad with passports etc. We requested use of a hotel safe and was told that 'there may be one available later in the day'. One was broken. Frankly I would have preferred a simple 'sorry we don't have any free' - honesty is always the best policy. So the moral is if there is a next time we shall try and reserve one with our booking.
While working for a customer near to the airport, our usual hotel was booked. Tried this one and love it. Conveniently located near to train/tram, shops, Jumbo Supermarket and most importantly, less than 20 minutes from the airport. The room was perfect; just what I expected from a HIexpress. The staff on the other hand; wow. Super friendly and more than willing to help with anything. Definitely will be back on the next trip to Amsterdam!
I was really impressed with this hotel! I did not expect to receive such a great customer service and care from Holiday inn Express ! All staff including housekeeping, breakfast and reception staff . All of them love their job and love to see happy guests . A big thank you trainer Michele from reception - she was the best ! I love her smile and always happy and smiling face ! She has great future ! So , if you will visit Amsterdam , stay at that hotel , you will enjoy ! Location is good as well !
Amazing stay in all senses. Wonderfull staff, very helpful I highly recommend it for kosher and jewish community. Kosher breakfast available. Next to the tram and many convenient stores. Easy to check in and out! I would definitely come back to the same hotel. Just love it!!
Great location (super close to the metro and tram, near a pharmacy and supermarket, near kosher restaurants and about a 20 min walk to Chabad). Not in the center but gives you a chance to see locals. Breakfast simple but filling with healthy options. Nice selection of beers at the bar. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Bed could be harder. Rooms are clean but very sparse (no fridge or closet, very basic shampoo, bed wasn't super firm). Overall a very good deal.
