Just enter the hotel, we already love the ambience, remind me my father design interior in 1980, really great hotel with beautiful design interior, Really freindly owner/ staff. We came in low season, she welcome us more then any hotel we've been, at the last we tried the best orginal food from Portugal. the kitchen food are excellent. We brought home some part of our dinner and cake. Fantastic place to stay in side the fortress, and the best hotel in Almeida with good price. All fantastic, the view, the originality. The Staff soo wonderful. Thanks a lot, we will come back again if we wiil visit Portugal and recommend to our family and friends.

The hotel is in a great location in town overlooking a section of the walled city. Truly wonderful views. While the hotel is a bit dated, it is comfortable enough. When you are out in the hinterlands, you have to understand that four star is different from a four star hotel in the city. T 022he rooms are plenty big, although furnishings could use some updating. There is a lift. The staff is fantastic, especially Fatima and Obispo, who are fun to talk to.

We visited Almeida as we have never visited a Portuguese Pousada. We still never have, as this charming hotel/restaurant is now no longer part of the Pousada chain. However, we were made very welcome and served a very tasty meal with a perfectly splendid bottle of Siria Wine. We arrived and were made very welcome indeed. By the time I had returned from washing my hands, my wife was ensconced on the terrace with two ice cold beers and a waiter fussing over her with great charm and welcome. In due course, we were taken to a table, just as the restaurant was filling with locals and Spaniards from just over the border.. We are determined to return and stay in the hotel instead of just visiting for a long, pleasant and very reasonable lunch.

The hotel is within the 'star fort' village and is comfortable if somewhat expensive and is showing signs of its age. The room was spacious and had all necessary facilities. The restaurant is somewhat formal and the food is good without being outstanding. There is no lift.

Great location. Great rooms. Great staff. Straightforward parking. Great food. Setting is in the middle of an 18th Century fortress which is nearly intact. Small bar. Outside terrace. Third time of staying over a 6 year period. Everything has remained as good as ever.

We really enjoyed the hotel, having spent there two nights. Besides a great room with all the amenities, a very good breakfast and a great staff. The Hotel is well located, inside the medieval fortress, allowing to visit all the fortifications and also to spend some quiet quality time.

We stayed here on a motorcycle trip, the hotel is located just inside the fortifications, so it's easy to walk round the town. The service was excellent with very helpful staff. There is a secure garage under the hotel so we had no worries about the bikes. We had room 215 which has a balcony and views of the fortifications, the room was large, light and clean, with a massive & comfortable bed. We ate dinner in the hotel as the town was so quiet, food and wine recommendations were great. Our waitress was lovely. I'd recommend this place.

This is a Pleasant place where I made an overnight stop when I was driving from France to Figuera da Foz. This hotel was a former Pousada, the decoration is a bit outdated, but it is very quiet and very will located at the gates of Portugal.

Very interesting town with plenty of history but the hotel seems to have stood still. At one time it would have been very classy but is now quite dated. Good sized rooms, plenty of space to get around with large corridors and staircase and plenty of room inside and out to relax. Bar prices were high (4€ for a small beer, 11€ for a brandy) but local wine with the meal was well priced at 8€. Stayed here as a group on a motorcycle tour with MSL tours and had a good meal for 2 nights, good breakfast and helpful staff.

Just stayed here and found it very dated but pleasant, the bar was poorly staffed and prices high but generally good service and clean although dark accommodation The food was fair but strange at times, fresh and clean but staff unable to understand English. However we got by. Friendly staff and made to feel welcome
