TRYP Alicante Gran Sol Hotel

This hotel is one of the tallest buildings of Alicante (26 floors) and has an unbeatable location: a 7-min walk to the beach, 5 min to the old town, 7 min to the bus to the airport (C-6). The other reason to choose this hotel are the spectacular views, not from all the rooms, though. We got a “Tryp Superior with Views” room on the 15th floor, in a corner of the building, with a big window by the beds, another one offering a view to the harbour from the beds and an L-shaped balcony which was fantastic, although narrow. The room was pretty basic but recently renovated. The building is from the 70s, with only 5 or 6 rooms per floor. Room service is virtually nonexistent, we asked for a blanket late at night and we were told to go down to reception to get it. Professional and friendly staff. I will definitely go back, but only to a “Tryp Superior with Views” room.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and couldn't fault the Hotel! Room 603 - wrap around balcony with beautiful views if the Marina. Breakfast was as good as other reviews stated- loved it! Excellent location for town and beach. Would definitely return!

just spent a week with my sister in room 1903 a corner room (or should I say suite ) so large and the views of the town, fort, marina and beach and esplanade were absolutely great we felt really spoilt the balcony wrapped round 2 sides giving us all these lovely views

We arrived at the hotel and were welcomed warmly by the staff. The room had lots of space, tidy and loved the comfortable bed.living area and sea view balcony. We had a problem with our safe when we arrived but it was sorted out very quickly. The staff were nice but I think the hotel could have more information on tourism and events in the foyer area.like leaflets on tour buses, trip etc. I d recommend this hotel because its right in the centre of Alicante,It has the marina, museums, shops, bars and resturants in walking distance.

Situated just one street back from the coast road, facing the beautiful marina, within very easy walk of both the historic old city, the newer commercial area, fantastic Postiguet beach and the castle mount, this really is the place to stay for location. The breakfast was also very good value with beautiful fresh fruit, plenty of choice of cold meats, cheeses, breads and even 'full English' (Why, when the Mediterranean veg were also hot and delicious?!) the staff were friendly, fast with clearing dirties and refreshing the buffet, and the coffee was better than you normally get from a self-service machine. The hesitation is managing reasonable expectations of a 4 star hotel. The rooms are tiny! We booked one with a 'balcony' and sea view, but said balcony was 2 feet deep max, and half filled with the air con unit. No seating (or space for it), 2 people can barely enjoy the view standing side by side. The bed was only queen size because the room was just big enough to get it in; the bathroom likewise just took the 4 piece suite with about enough room to stand between the loo and sink! Admittedly there was corridor space inside the room, hardly useful! Added to our slight disappointment with the room the restaurant was closed for refurbishment, without any mention on the website, with the hammering and drilling going on all day, even during the siesta hours. And the reception staff were not brilliantly welcoming either. This was our fourth stay in Alicante. We love the city and the different areas and this hotel was chosen specially to celebrate a birthday. To be truthful, we've stayed in much nicer hotels in the city for less money and for more. Though the views were spectacular, this one did not work for us.

This is a splendid hotel in an excellent location with sunny rooms, great views of the sea, comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts and helpful friendly staff. An added benefit is the next door lovely cafe set in the midst of gorgeous, huge fig trees. Also the bus to/from the airport is about a block away.

Very disappointed with hotel, no bar, no regular dining room no entertainment, when we complained we were told it was been renovated, when we booked we were not told this, they informed us they had moved full board customers to other hotels, we checked in as B/B. Marina across road from hotel, beach 10 minutes walk, would not stay here again, staff were nice but nothing they could do for us, Manager was so perfect for his job, we nearly apologized to him for complaining.Bathroom too small

First of all, the breakfast is the best thing ever, fresh juice, and food, all of it tasted great. The room had a double bed, not two single beds pushed together, ok room size, room cleaned daily, there was no kettle for tea in the room, bathroom ok size. The reception area had orange flavored water I always took a drink, biscuits and sweets also available for grabs. I didn’t try the restaurant 26th floor), but make sure go up there, and step out on to balcony and take pictures of the area. If u are scared of heights, this should get you going. The hotel is the tallest building in the area, and can be pointed miles away. Airport is only 6 miles away, and you can get on the C6 bus for €3.85 for a ticket from the bus stop right at the start of the beach. One thing that we were not happy about was we were told there was a sauna when we booked, but no sauna was available.

Great location for a few days close to Alicante Old Town with lovely alley ways and squares for outdoor dining, close to the beach and Marina. Also near Castille Santa Barbera which has lift access from promenade for a lovely relaxing few hours with great views down to the sea and town. You can experience some authentic Spanish life in a very relaxed few days. Nice superior room with 3 windows and a balcony with sea and marina views.

When we visited, the hotel restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment so I cannot comment although the views from the 26th floor restaurant must be amazing. The hotel is well managed, with good breakfasts provided on the second floor. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only issue is the noise from the streets below, particularly at weekends and if your windows are open, so be prepared for disturbed nights. This is a high rise block so beware if you do not like heights.
