I have stayed three times at this excellent hotel, which tells it's own story. Great view, the best location in Alicante. Excellent and very helpful staff. Good breakfast, clean and spacious rooms. Could not be any better. highly recommended.
On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, the reception area is bright and welcoming if not very grand, our room did not disappoint, we had a superior with sea view, it was excellent, it had everything we would hope for, fabulous views, comfortable bed, nice seating area and even tea making facilities which is always a bonus .. there were 3 english speaking channels, all news, it would be nice to have one entertainment channel but that was not a big deal . The bathroom was great, good shower, and yippee, a well lit magnifying mirror, great for getting ready at night !!The cleaning staff were very good and pleasant. Breakfast was great, nice room and plenty of variety, the staff were always attentive and friendly. So now my one complaint... the Melia web site gives the distinct impression that by becoming a member it entitles you to 10Euro a day to spend in hotel and a late check out if available, NOT so, we enquired at reception and were told that our membership did not allow us any of these privileges, we were not the only people who were fooled by the web site and this was very disappointing, even with the points we were given I think we paid the same price we could have booked it elsewhere so this is not good. we could have gone home unhappy but we were lucky enough to deal with Oana at reception (she had been very helpful with city information etc), she was so lovely with a big smile BUT more than this she made every effort to find a compromise that made us feel that she cared, (our home flight was at 11.30pm which meant we had a very long day to be out of our hotel ) well she succeeded and we will definitely be recommending this hotel with the warning to check Melia membership small print if you are tempted by the site.
I chose this hotel without realising, it is the tallest building near the sea side. Our room was on the 20th floor so the whole city was in our view. It was spectacular. To our luck, there were celebrations and we did not even have to leave the hotel to enjoy the fireworks. Breakfast is rich although coffee could be improved, they have a coffee machine with the varieties. their bar on the top floor could be improved as it has a spectacular view. Service is good. It is very easy to access to everywhere from the city.
Although not resident at the hotel the restaurant had been recommended to the 4 of us. When we arrived at 20:15 there was a small group of Americans seated and a couple, that's all. The 1 waiter didn't acknowledge us at all. We stood for 5 minutes before I asked if we could sit by the windows. Waiter asked if we were resident. When I said no he just grunted something and pointed with his head. He brought bread rolls and olives over but didn't speak or smile at all. He didn't bring menus over - my husband got them. Another member of staff appeared but still no-one acknowledged us. After waiting 30 mins we got up to leave. The other member of staff clearly saw us but went into the kitchen. So we left €3 on the bar (for the 2 bread rolls we'd eaten) and left. Fantastic views, appalling service. Very disappointed.
Booked this hotel and paid extra for seaview. When we booked it tried to give us a room on the 3rd floor, I knew this would be looking into the building opposite. I said we have paid extra for a seaview on high level. She then agreed as it was on the screen in front in her. Think they was just trying to fob us off. There was two receptionists but only one serving so had to wait approx 20 mins to be seen. Very slow service. Breakfast ok, Room small but adequate. Had to squeeze In between the sink and toilet as they were so close to each other. Not well designed. Location is excellent.
Had to leave our apartment in Benidorm early so booked a room here so we could make our flight the next day.Lovely room and very clean and the views of the marina were amazing, if I went back to Alicante I'd stay here both for business and pleasure. Can't comment on the breakfast because we didn't make it due to our flight leaving early
We choose to stay at "this high standard hotel". Let me clear that joke. I doesnt matter what they are trying too do. It what they do... we arrived 11.00 and was meet by a terrible host. We were in a hurry and she wasnt. Its clear that the Tryp i eighter dont know or dont care. How ever the guy in the reception was great. But still... When we came home it was a caos. A new guy was there a didnt have a chance... Dear TRYP. Start or Loose.
Stayed here many times but this was the first after the general refurbishment. Old fashioned hotel with old fashioned service, both professional and courteous, but rooms now modern. Views from corner rooms are magnificent, location is very good. Rooms well equipped and bathroom amply stocked! Highly recomend this hotel at any time of the year
We were absolutely delighted with all apects of the hotel. The staff in all areas could not have been more friendly or efficient. The breakfasts were excellent and the beds were unbelievably comfortable.
We have stayed in many hotels in Alicante, and decided to try for one time the Tryp hotel, because of its convenient location near the beach and boulevard. However, it turned out to be a great disappointment. The biggest problem of this hotel is the noise (from the Streets and neighbours in other rooms). The wall are so thin, that you can hear what your neighbours say. We stayed at the 10th floor on a Tuesday night. Next to us were young people who decided to invite people on their room and have some sort of party until 3.00 am, with music, screaming and knocking on doors in the corridor. Well.. that can happen, and next time we will call the reception to solve this. Then there is also the noise from the street. Alicante is known for its street noise. So, for a hotel it is essential to have good noise isolation. And unfortunately, this is not the case in Tryp. Some general remarks about the room: the rooms are small, the curtains do not close well, so you wake up when the sun goes up (6 am). The bathroom is very small, but convenient. The only positive things were the view from the room (to see the castillo) and that they allowed us to check in before 12.00pm, that was very nice (in other hotels you have to pay for that). We won`t choose again for Tryp. It was once, but never again.
