My vivacious young wife & I stayed one night here after a late arrival into Alicante Airport. We were en route to Murcia but rather than travel down late we thought we'd have a stopover. The location is great, beside the Railway Terminus and a short walk to the city centre, marina and beach. The room was comfortable, clean and modern. Our included breakfast was great with good coffee, freshly squeezed juice, continental buffet, cereals and hot options. The staff at reception and in breakfast room were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.
This was our second visit to the 'la City'. For a Budget Hotel it is excellent value. Clean and tidy bathrooms, air con and lifts were working well. We went for B and B as we had a grandson with us and they need to eat! Food was nutritious and plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the card key until we stopped putting it next to our mobile phone which apparently had been scrambling the messages. The la City is across the road from the railway station and just a 5 minute walk down to the beach, lots of bars and shops close by open until late.
We returned home from a three night stay at La City yesterday. It is in a good location for visiting the city of Alicante, with restaurants, bars, shops and the train station right on your door step. We had the cheapest room and it was lovely, the beds were comfy and maid service every day, we had a small fridge, safe and aircon included in the price. The staff were excellent, very helpful and polite. The beach is about a fifteen minute walk from the hotel and if you need a taxi back it was 5 euros, which we thought was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we visit Alicante in the future we would definitely stay at La City.
La City is a simple, nice hotel, right across from the train station. Overall it is ok The rooms are comfy and spacious; beds are ok. The're two problems with La City. First, thebreakfast isn't bad but it could be improved. The breakfast room is small and usually there's not much food. Second, the " ambiance". Don't expect any sort of holiday/seaside ambiance -- it is a city hotel, and the ambiance is rather gloomy / unispiring. But if you're simply looking for an ok place on the way to/from Alicante train station -- why not?!
I didn't stay here, but had to seek assistance at the hotel with some business matters. A staff member went out of his way to help me (much more cooperative than my own hotel) and I highly recommend this hotel based on my customer service experience there! Also, the location is very good for traveling as it is next to train station and other public transport.
Next to the railway station with short walking distance anywhere in upper down town. Our room was spacious and practically furnished with big terrasse but without views. Quiet room but beds had some kind of plastic covers and there was cold. Heating had been finished though there was cold and windy outside. By asking at reception we were told that nothing can be done. Breakfast started 7.30 and it was very basic and concise.
Airports bus(C 6) drops you off at train station which is directly over the road from the hotel . Hotel is clean, friendly staff and 5 mins from the beach, and the nightlife. Loads of good restaurants nearby
We booked for a week's city break and initially were very happy with the room, friendly staff and central location but soon realised that we'd made a mistake and should have paid attention to the previous reviewer who said that it was impossible to sleep in this hotel. Basically the rooms were extremely hot yet the air conditioning was not yet usable as it was only late Feb/early March. It was 22 degrees Celsius outside and inside the room was like an oven (as the heating was on in the hotel) so we really needed air-conditioning or to open the window. If the window is shut it's quiet but if you open the window it's very noisy with the traffic. To cut a long story short we moved hotel after 2 sleepless nights. This hotel would probably be ok for a one night stopover for the train but nothing longer at this time of year unless you can cope with noisy traffic and don't mind a very hot room. All the reception staff could suggest was to turn off the heating in the room which we had already done. Might be ok in the summer when the air-conditioning presumably works but not at this time of year.
Arrived too early officially to check in but the reception desk had realised that our flight would mean we would be early, no problem, they had ensured our room was cleaned and prepared early so we could go straight up on our arrival and make the most of out time in the city. Our room was on the fifth floor at the rear of the hotel, no view except of the street to the rear of the hotel. The room (503) was spotless, large and well equipped, obviously a business hotel and not a holiday hotel but nonetheless well equipped. Two good sized beds with pure white bedding, bedside cabinets, desk and chair, TV ( radio,Spanish stations only on TV) easy chair case stand, mini fridge with soft drinks only (payable to use drinks), ample wardrobe and drawer storage. The bathroom was large and again spotless, toilet, bidet, washbasin, bath with shower (never ending supply of hot water) over it, large choice of toiletries and soft fluffy white towels. Downside was the hot buffet breakfast, very poor, microwaved bacon, Spanish omelette and RED sausage, the cold buffet was a lot better and better value as the we were only on a room only deal. Overall and all things considered this is a good 3 star hotel and good value, it is right opposite the railway station, no noise from it, and fairly well situated for exploring the city with the tram station some 300 metres away, take the tram to Benidorm for just over 6 euro return, the trip is about 90 mins each way, fantastic value. Really enjoyed our stay at this friendly little hotel. Oh and it does have A/C and heating for those cooler days.
I picked this hotel as I was only passing through Alicante. I was on my way to Valencia but could only fly direct to Alicante. This hotel is really conveniently located almost opposite the train station and the airport bus, accordingly, also stops almost right outside. The rooms I stayed in (I stayed there twice once on my way to Valencia, once on my way back) were quite comfortable. The WiFi seemed reliable. There was a free coffee machine in the lobby. Breakfast even when not included was quite affordable. I can only identify two potential and slight downsides. From my limited experience the corridors seem quite noisy. I was woken up both nights I stayed there by late arrivals. The hotel is also not quite in the city centre. The liveliest bars and restaurants are about a 10 to 15 minute walk.
