Stayed at hotel for long wknd 16.9.17 lovely room clean & the most comfortable beds staff were very pleasant & couldn't do enough for us especially Gerardo on reception always happy, knowledgeable,& polite, great pool area plenty of loungers great choice of food hotel is very relaxing & a great place to chill, we both said we would definitely go back. Hotel is on a golf course so a little out the way but only a cab ride away from the town its very much similar to Desert springs like us you don't have to play golf to enjoy a stay here.
This was a very last minute deal for me and I must say I'm happy I went for it. The resort is literally based around a beautiful golf club and it takes its name from the new 'urbanizacion', Bonalba. Only 30 minutes from Alicante airport but still rather isolated, especially if you expect to go to the beach while there. So I strongly advice you to rent a car: it's dead cheap and it's going to make your life pure luxury! Shame the hotel will charge you 10 Euros a day to keep it in their parking lot... I know, very disappointing. A lovely big swimmingpool, an hour of spa per day included in the price and lovely ample rooms. Unfortunately not the room with a view I asked for, but hey! Not bad after all. At least I was given the room with a balcony. My impression was that they allocate the room only after seeing that your booking came through the last minute website... Not the best way to treat your customers. Apart from Irene - a lovely young lady who was ever so kind and helpful, she even gave us a courtesy room on the leaving day for a quick shower - at reception they should retrain everyone: bad attitude and lack of interest were shown in all occasions. You could tell they had a rather lazy attitude in the hotel: since our arrival we had just outside our room a huge crib standing in the corridor and a mattress leaning on the corridor wall. Not the best publicity... Apart from all this I must say the quite location and the luxurious feeling of the area makes you stay feel special. Driving down the golf course is magic. I would still advice it but hold on to your expectations...!
I booked a mini break for myself and my husband to Hotel Bonalba for 10th to 14th September. Only a 25 minute taxi ride form the airport (cost of between 30-40 euro depending on traffic) and a short flight from London. First impressions were good. Friendly staff, very clean and even though check in wasn't until 16.00, we were allowed to drop our bags and use the facilities. (Including a free welcome drink) The pool was large, clean and very well maintained with lifeguards on duty. There was never any need to rush down early to drop your towel on a bed, as there were always beds available. It wasn't very busy as the summer season is coming to an end, but for us, this was perfect. We even had the pool to ourselves of a few occasions. The room was quite large with comfy beds, large bathroom and clean towels daily when the room was cleaned. the air conditioning was good and there was a mini fridge, kettle and a little tea, coffee, sugar pack on arrival. We had a safe in the room (no fee to use) and free Wi-Fi throughout. The only downfall was that there are no English TV channels (except sky news and BBC world news) So not much to complain about at all as we were not there to catch up on soaps! We booked bed and breakfast only. Myself being the fussiest person alive when it comes to food was very impressed by the vast selection available. Full cooked breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, cakes, biscuits and donuts. Freshly made pancakes and omelettes made to order, and freshly squeezed juices. There is a bar that is open for most of the day and vending machines for drinks. There is not much locally to do, but there are a few restaurants and bars about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Also a little shop that I recommend you stock up on water, fizzy drinks and snacks as it is much cheaper. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back soon for a little bit of R and R. Perfect place to unwind and relax.
As other reviews this hotel is lovely , but has lots of down sides ; hotel is in the middle of residential area which has no shops or supermarket ,has 3 little bars and that's your lot ...... you have to have a car , hotel runs a shuttle bus to the beach which is 10 euros to go just 20 minutes there , it does not leave until 11.00 and comes back at 4.30 , they could actually go a lot earlier in the morning so you get a good day out !!! Dinner is not served until 8.00 pm which is a long time to go between breakfast at 8.00am and evening meal , maybe ok for Spanish but not English , seemed far too late for eating . Another few downsides were balconies were not private whatsoever , open grid like partitions you can see next balcony and hear everything , when you get a family on the balcony all talking and shouting , couldn't hear ourselves talk, not good . Says tea and coffee making facilities provided , but this is kettle and cups , .......tea coffee, or milk was not provided or spoons. I hate to run this hotel down but we enjoyed overall week with lovely pool plenty sunbeds , we had the hot weather , but definitely would not return.
Basic bedrooms but comfy beds. Great looking pool but cold, as expected, but an indoor pool swung it for me along with the glossy advertising from LOVE HOLIDAYS.COM as a medical condition prevents me entering cold water. However, greatly sisapointed to discover on arrival that there was a charge of 8 Euros an hour to use it !! I also chose it with my wife in mind whom enjoys a swim but even she said it was too cold for her until she reached the middle of the pool, for some strange reason. Food was good but service left a lot to be desired and waiting staff seemed at a loss when it came to doing the job correctly, along with attitude too, leaving a distinct 'anti-brit' aftertaste in the mouth, designed to give us indigestion no doubt, for which we hopefully wouldn't return too soon. Same whenever help required from Reception staff. And last but not least, minimal evening entertainment, if any at all, which catered only for the natives. But you make the best of what you're given and why we were more than thankful we had the foresight to hire a car on arrival.
Hotel amazing, beautiful entrance and lobby very relaxing. Everywhere spotless. room is great with everything you need, bed absolutely amazing, comfiest bed Iv ever had in a hotel, air con great to have. Pool amazing and always a sun lounger available. Great to see activities for kids and even grown ups. Night time entertainment gives something to do which is good. Indoor pool, sauna, steam room is great! Wifi in hotel and rooms is great quality though depending where you are at pool can loose it. Cafe/bar can get quite busy (but the girl is amazing) and has limited food selection so need to head out for variety. Few restaurants nearby which is great, recommend la Perla and great wee shop run by English lady to get essentials like water! Only downside is it costs quite a bit to travel anywhere whether in taxi or hotel bus so adds quite abit on to holiday costs. Very much a Spanish hotel so can be hard trying to understand everything or make yourself understood! Overall a great hotel especially if you hire a car!!
Stayed at this hotel from the 28/8-1/9/2017. The hotel has a 18 hole golf course built around it. Facilities are excellent. Reception is open 24hours with good pleasant staff. Rooms are well equipped with kettle, tv, comfortable beds, mini bar. Rooms are serviced daily, towels changed daily. Outside there is a very large pool split into different depths so all age groups are catered for and plenty of sun loungers. There's plenty going on around the pool to entertain the kids. Food in the restaurant is buffet style but it is really good quality, better than most I've tasted recently. The only downside to this hotel is its distance from the beach but the hotel have a mini bus which runs in the morning and collects later in the afternoon for a small charge. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend.
This hotel and its superb staff exceeded our expectations. We booked a late notice 4 night short break at the Hotel Bonalba on a half board basis and would definitely return. Our double pool facing room was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. We found the food to be freshly prepared with lots of choice and there is an ala carte restaurant if you want a change from the buffet. We used this for one night to celebrate our anniversary and the food and service were excellent with a specially decorated cake thrown in to recognise our occasion. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle with a few local restaurants within walking distance. The surrounding area is peaceful with a high quality Golf course on the doorstep and some great mountain and coastal views from the hotel. The real gem of this hotel though is the staff. Without exception every member we came across was pleasant, courteous and went out of their way to ensure we received the best service - all with a smile. The staff put in long hours but all of them retain their sense of humour and dedication, the management should be rightly proud. We will definitely look to return to Bonalba in the future. Although some reviews say this place is isolated, I would say it is very rural but relaxing with it. Lovely big rooms & good housekeeping services. Eg. Towels changed every day. Pool was great & very large. Always plenty of sun beds available and lots of European tourists. The hotel felt very Spanish with lots of Spanish tourists, which meant it was very quiet at the siesta time! Hotel minibus was perfect- San Juan is a great, clean beach and Alicante is surprisingly pretty and historic. The hotel breakfast was delicious, wth lots of choice every morning. Fresh pancakes were the bomb. We LOVED the nearby restaurants which were just a short walk away. The bar Mamma Mia had great service and delicious range of gin/all alcohol. The French restaurant was delicious, as was the Spanish place (quiet but definitely worth a visit). Pizza place was great- very good service and very fresh. Overall a lovely, relaxing, part of the world.
Great room- we had a suite with 2 bathrooms, king bed, double sofa bed, kettle and fridge. It would have been nice to have basic cooking facilities in the room. Beautiful large pool. Nice breakfast. We used it as a base for a short 3 day visit.
