As said before, this is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful central location. I'm pretty glad we did not get the views over the town hall as events happened all during our holiday there so we got the best deal of not having it ruin our night sleep but having it on our door step. The staff are so friendly, and will help you out to get anywhere you need to, we wanted to get to benidorm and the receptionist found us a bus and how to get to the bus station, couldn't do more for us! The rooms themselves are beautiful and clean. The only issue I had with the hotel was the loud doors, but it is a very secure building and I felt very comfortable.

I can not begin to explain how wonderful this hotel is. It is located in the best place possible for exploring Alicante (in the same plaza at the city hall) seconds from the harbor, esplanada, and rambla! Located in the old town. On the terrace there is a PHENOMENAL view of the mountain and castle Santa Barbara, I spent hours on this terrace! The customer service is great ESPECIALLY the receptionists, who speak very good English and help you with everything you need to know about the city, including great restaurant and flamenco recommendations! I would highly recommend this hotel.

We loved the location of this hotel in Alicante ... it’s on the edge of the Town Hall square, and really is perfect walking distance for everything. We had a small balcony which overlooked the square, and it was fantastic for people watching and relaxing ... there was a couple of processions whilst we were there, it was great to watch them from either the balcony, or the terrace on the top of the building. We both did comment that we wouldn’t have been as happy with a room with no balcony, or one not facing the square - but I suppose it really is each to their own! The room was light and very clean, well equipped, and we asked for an iron for the room and it was delivered immediately. The mini bar was fairly expensive at €1.75 for a bottle of water, but there was a small convenience store over the other side of the square which we used after the first evening. We had breakfast on the first morning in the hotel, which had a good selection buffet for €7.50, although we preferred trying different restaurants and cafes the remainder of the time, as a variation. A nearby bakery cafe, for example, offered coffee, fresh orange and a large pastry each for under €8 for us both.... if you wanted a massive breakfast each day, the hotel buffet, however, would be ideal. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and helpful. It was no trouble whatsoever to leave luggage with them on the last day, when we had a late flight home. From Alicante airport we took a taxi, as we arrived and departed later at night, and it was just under €20 each way - although I know there are alternatively buses which run from the airport to the Mercado area. A really nice, clean hotel, less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, old town, and restaurants, and probably 10 minutes to the castle via the beach. It really is ideal for exploring Alicante, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now!

Great location in an old setting with a plaza at your front door with bar and coffee shops short walk to the sea wall nice promenade with music and vendors. In back of the hotel few blocks in is the Tapas area block after block of tapas bars safe and affordable. Free parking across the street at the water front bring your ticket to the front desk and they will stamp it. Moorish fortress within walking distance, good place to drink wine and make new friends, just remember no one goes out until after 9 pm.

Perfectly located near the Old Town and Puerto del Mar and the rooms are very comfortable with proper double bed and good pillows. WiFi was a bit hit and miss but can't really complain too much as it worked most of the time in the room but not on the small balcony in our room (3rd floor). Breakfast was the usual self service affair and was adequate but certainly nothing special. There wasn't sufficient seating in the breakfast room for all hotel guests which led to queuing/waiting at busy times. All the staff were very accommodating but where the 4 stars come from is a mystery to me as there is no lounge, no bar and no meal options other than breakfast. No complaints other than those mentioned but wouldn't choose it again if there were better options available.

On arrival we were given the wrong room.. We booked the large roof terraced room, but this was ammended immediatly luckily. The room however was very hot, and neither the air con or the fridge worked effectively the whole or our stay. We were told it was the hottest for hundreds of years in Spain, but we recall similar temps the year before so found this a bit of an excuse really. The week before we has stayed in a different spot and it was fine there. This said, the staff went out and bought a fan to try and help us. However, this spoilt our holiday in someways as we both have really sore throats and are chesty as a result of these difficluties. It also meant we could not take advantage of having the two sets of terrace doors open at any time whilst we tried to cool the room. We also slept badily as a result which is a shame because the bed is so large and comfy in this room. We booked breakfast to go with the room, this had changed in quality too. Last year a very efficient older lady in charge would organise and replenish everyting in the self service dining room. This year struggling chefs were waiting on the room and cooking which resulted in cold eggs and bacon, and the eggs had burnt bits in. After day 2 we had to complain, again the staff wanted to help, but all they could offer really was a refund of the remaining days we had paid for. The breakfast thing was incoveniant as it meant we had to get ready and out and eat in the morning rather than pull something on and go down stairs for a bite to eat. A year after our previous visit the hotel is looking a little tired, and is not as clean as it was the year before. We were told last year the downstairs bar would be finished, but there was still nowhere to sit and have a drink, we couldnt get any ice either to put in our drinks to cope with our hot room and warm fridge! By tired I mean the room needed redecoration. The laminate floor was lifting up and sharp on your feet. Fingerprints were on the walls, and the terrace had bird crap on it when we first arrived. Staff sorted this, but it spoilt things. I love this hotel, for its position, but management need to stop making cutbacks and pay attention to detail. It has gone down 2 stars for me. I'd love to return - the position is fantastic - but not like this...

we have used this hotel a few times now and can recommend it to everybody especially older folks as it is s close to the old town and the promenade and port area. really close to many restaurants and bars , the tour bus and a wonderful view of the castle as well.

We wanted to see more of Alicante not just fly in and move on. Our eldest son had already stopped at this hotel and recommended it. We were not disappointed. Our room was on the 6th floor with a large balcony that gave us beautiful views of the city. The position of the hotel was perfect for looking round and the staff could not have been more helpful.

The Hotel Mediterranea has a great location, being in the corner of the old towns main square. This means that it is a just a few steps to the promonade and the seafront. It also has a great view of the near by castle. There are a great selection of bars and restaurents in the area. The bedrooms are a good size, clean with nice bathrooms. There is no lounge area or bar which is not a real issue as there are bars very close by. The breakfast room is adequate, as is the breakfast itself. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Great room . Bit Dark though Massive bathroom Close to most things Town square out of front door. Where fiestas are held. Staff helpful. Did get noisy through the night with people shouting and talking under the window.
