We stayed for 5 nights in some blistering heat! The Hotel is set a little away from the marina and the beach but the courtesy bus runs regularly through out the day and upto 2300hrs - It would be possible to walk but why would you. The arrival and welcome was excellent and the first impressions were proved correct - this is a great hotel. A fantastic room full air-con which did actually work and English TV inc. BBC channels ITV and sky + others. Not that we were there to watch the TV. We had breakfast included which was a buffet style and had a good stab at a full English so even the fussiest eater would find something to enjoy. You could spend your entire time at the hotel with the pools, Spa and restaurants on site. If I had to be "Super" critical the hotel lobby bar lacks a little bit of character but some solo singers and entertainment made up for this in the evening. Outstanding holiday, great hotel, fantastic staff highly recommended!!
Went for 10 days in August - peak time I admit, but hotel felt a bit stretched. This is a nice hotel, situated in a tourist area of Portugal, with a shuttle bus service to take you to the marina and beach. The grounds are lovely, numerous pools which were always clean and the food good quality, there is good wifi, the rooms are comfortable and a good size, extra things like a games room for children and brilliant kids club area. The beds are really comfortable with duvets and the housekeeping service was fantastic. But, there were queues of people waiting for breakfast each morning, never had to wait too long and they did open up another restaurant space to accommodate. You had to book a table for diner in certain restaurants and the food and drinks were very expensive. 15 Euros for a salad by the pool is a lot! Pool bar service always seems overwhelmed, they needed more staff on and no one ever came to clear away the plates/glasses all day. Sunloungers were often full and we had to wait for an hour or so a couple of days to get somewhere, they do have a good policy of removing towels if people try to reserve them, but I think although there were a lot of beds (comfortable ones as well with nice padding!) there was just too many people in the hotel in August to accommodate. The shuttle bus ran every 30 mins but it was often full and the queues became pushy when it arrived, an argument broke out once and another time it was so full we couldn't get on. Little things such as keeping the areas clean and collecting glasses/plates regularly, keeping on top of landscaping and cleaning (cobwebs in dining room and dust on corridor railings) would have made it feel more like a proper 5 star, not just 5 star prices. I personally didn't like this area of Portugal so much, I would have preferred somewhere a bit older with a bit more character, but Vilamoura is well tended, clean and safe. The beach was great and for a relaxing holiday I would recommend it.
I've been a Hilton Diamond member for several years and visited Hilton resort properties. This is a pleasant family resort that is located away from the beach and near the golf courses. It has several swimming pools (include one for adults) and a shuttle to the beach. For our trip, we didn't really partake of the resort, but used the hotel as a base to visit some of the nearby beaches which are spectacular. The hotel was convenient for this exploration. The hotel has on site parking (free) in a covered garage with plenty of spaces and it was a roomy facility. On another note, Dina, the hotel manager, treated us exceptionally well. My wife made some special requests related to dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy free) that Dina was able to accommodate. She was pleasant to work with and I would recommend you talk to her if you have any questions about the hotel or special accommodations.
Stayed for 9 nights and we had a great time. We had a Deluxe Plus room and it was perfect - modern, spacious and separate sofa bed area for our kid. The bathroom was really clean with separate shower and bath. Balcony was large, although design meant it didn't get much sun, which was okay with us. Staff are friendly and helpful, although possibly misses a concierge service. Pool area was large and clean with a good bar service. There are a few pools and all were warm enough. Although we always managed to get a sun bed, the typical problems are present - towels on the beds pre-breakfast. Staff did their best with putting stickers on the bed with a 60 minute warning. Breakfast was a familiar large buffet and was reasonable. However, we eat at the hotel twice and it was not great. First was room service after a hard day at the water park and we ordered steak, burger and lasagne. Best comment was "it's okay". We then went to the buffet on Italian night and although there was plenty of choice, it had only a tenuous link to Italy. It just was not very good, although other people seemed to enjoy it. There is also a frequent bus service to the Marina, which is great - but watch for busy times. Most nights the 7pm bus was full and the queuing system was unclear. In summary, I definitely would recommend staying here - rooms and pool are great. I would just go down to the Marina every night for food.
We stayed in the Hilton as part of our family holiday to Portugal. It was the perfect end to a great holiday. The staff made us welcome and made sure we had a memorable stay. The food was great and it is perfect for families. The chef (I did not get his name) in the Cilentro restaurant made the best omelette I have had in any hotel (and I stay in Hilton Hotels every week for work).
Hotel is fabulous, pool areas are very well kept and big. Prices in bar very expensive €5 for a small beer and €1 up in the marina entertainment at night is lacking no atmosphere in bar. All the staff are very friendly couldn't do more for you. The one thing that was very disappointing for my stay was the visit of foto island at the bar. Animals are in boxes and passed around for an hour for photos, this is extremely distressing seeing animals wandering around the pool totally confused. It's quite horrific to see these wild animals being exploited for profit in this day and age. You would expect in a five star hotel that there would be decent entertainment instead of poor animals being passed around and kept in wooden boxes in the sweltering heat for an hour. There were many people complaining about this show at the poolside as the poor turtle was walking around on his own.I have been returning to the Hilton for many years now and the same show has been going on, I hope the next year we return the hotel staff will have come to their senses and get some other type of entertainment.
Everything is great about this hotel, 25 minute walk to the marina (with 3) kids, clean, all staff are very helpful, food and drinks were amazing. Cannot fault it at all. Would like to give a special mention to the kids club and Milene especially, she made a stay with a partner who golfs, a 4, 2, and 11 month old a relaxing holiday. My kids were too small to be left there alone (in my opinion) but all the girls at kids club done an amazing job looking after the children with plenty of crafts, and outdoor park with a sheltered area. Thank you and see you next year!
Pool is very overcrowded and you have to be up at 6am to be sure you are around for 7am when the pool opens to get beds for your family if you come at 9am the latest you won't get beds for a family of four also the pool only gets cleaned once a week so it gets a bit grimey you would expect a hotel pool to get cleaned every day Keep Hold of all your possessions if something goes missing or is misplaced round the pool you'll never see it again our sons Rayban sunglasses went missing and was never seen again 1st week then another pair the second week he has had these sunglasses for 5 yrs with no problem .If you have a late return flight don't expect a courtesy room even thou there are rooms for sale online they will not give you one and expect you to be out by 12 overall the hotel is getting tired and is not that great for family's they could not even do a child portion of spag Bol on room service so we had to get Adults I wouldn't stay again and if you like space and not having to lie next to strangers 2inches away then if you are going to vilamoura go to pine cliffs or the lakes resorts it's much better
We stayed at the Hilton for 5 nights and were so pleased with our stay; in fact, the only downside is the fact that we are continually comparing it to our next destination. We tried to think of a critique but couldn't come up with one! If you like the beach, even though this hotel isn't on the beach, this is your perfect spot. The complimentary bus takes you just outside the beach where you have towels, sun beds and umbrellas provided. Add to this the benefit of a beach side restaurant and toilet (which is exceptionally clean for beach side), it's the perfect place to spend the day. You can then return at the end of a beach day to a refreshing dip in one of several pools. The breakfast buffet is excellent and all of the staff are warm and friendly.
The hotel was as expected from a hilton, very clean and well appointed. The pool area for adults was a bonus that we used every day. The staff were very helpful. The only disadvantage is the cost of food and drinks, the meals we had were super but also expensive. Breakfast was excellent and only experienced short queues.
