We spent only 2 days break at the end of October, and we left wishing for more! Weather was indeed amazing for that period, so it helped. Very comfortable room, amazing breakfast variety, very handy boat transport to the nearest beach, and nice staff. Spa was nice as well, but Jacuzzi was not functioning 100%, anyway, with such an amazing weather, it was not a minus at all. If you want to be around, you might need a car, as Tavira is a bit far by walk.
Complete tranquility. Sunshine. Excellent a la carte. Most charming staff. Good birdwatching despite time of year. Swimming in outdoor pool. Not first visit. One negative. It closes end of November until January or February following year.
Everything is positive about this hotel except the fact that you have to rely on transport from Tavira town. This might also be valued as an advantage as you get rid of the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Just returned from a bird watching and walking holiday with Preferred Travel which was great. We stayed here and judged it one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Apart from the river view which we paid extra for and was largely obscured by scrub, everything was perfect. Lovely to have everything on one level, the pool was great, the food was plentiful, varied and very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely come again
Beautiful, isolated location in a natural reserve, very quiet and clean, friendly staff, in partiuclar at the reception. Even in October, we could enjoy all our meals and evening drinks on the terraces.
Fantastic hotel service was awesome the staff was awsome. Missing a few amenities that would be helpful: ATM and money exchange (for greater quantity than offered and better exchange rates) Shuttle services would be great.
This hotel is ideally suited for beach lovers and birders alike. The rooms are very comfortable and there is the added attraction of Spa facilities as well as the outdoor pool. The bar and cafe areas are very nice with reasonable prices. The extensive grounds are beautifully maintained with grass and planted areas. The buffet breakfast is splendid but the evening buffet is expensive. There is a free shuttle bus for trips into Tavira town, or you could take the 30 minute walk.
Arrived late Tuesday evening and was a little concerned at the distance from Tavira Centre woke up on Wed our first day and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and its location. The pool area and pool bar cannot be faulted with a good choice of quality food and drink at a fair price. The hotel do have a shuttle bus into Tavira but the timetable is somewhat restricted, a taxi costs from 6 to 8 Euro, you can walk into Tavira at a steady pace on flat paved surfaces in around 45 minutes. Trips to the excellent local beaches are by boat from the hotel jetty costs 3 euro per person return, the only downside is the cost of 2 sun beds and umbrella at 15 euro for a half day. If you want a bit of sand you just walk outside of the complex onto the estuary and it's there! To conclude an excellent break ideal for couples and families. Children have their own pool complete with slides and also have their own well equipped play area Would we go again, a definite yes!
This was not my first choice for a hotel in Tavira but my first was fully booked. I knew it was quite a way out which had some advantages and disadvantages. The good:- It is a very pretty place with good staff. Rooms were great and had one of the best bathrooms ever. You had lots of storage for everything you needed. Breakfast was great with everything you could wish for. Great pool with lots of sunbeds. Nice little patio to sit out. Bar staff Marco and his male assistant I think Paulo were so friendly and stood out to us. They always had a friendly smile for us and made our holiday. The beach is a cheap boat ride away and we had a great time here and the sea was calm enough for swimming. The not so good:- I knew this hotel was a way out of town but we walk a lot and thought it would be about 35mins. It took us nearly an hour and we were walking at a good speed. We had to taxi every night as bus does not run after 5.30. This was a bit of a downer after a while. I feel we should have gone into town with the bus at 9.30 in the morning to get a feel of Tavira and would have found an Booked the restaurants we wanted to visit as they were all booked up when we tried to get a table. This led to some good and some terrible meals. I will go back to Tavira as I feel it was not given a fair chance and it is very beautiful. I will stay central as I missed just wandering out during the day ( I am not a good sun bather) and looking around the town at leisure when I get bored.
This is a great location and is quite unique in that it used to be a fishing village which was abandoned and developed as an hotel. it has the added advantage that it is adjacent to the river and a beautiful stretch of beach and is near to other beautiful beaches
