Location brilliant rooms very spacious pool bit small but room for improvement hotel has no atmosphere so much space waisted at night nothing happens everybody goes to the strip bit of live music and guests would stay But !!! Location is second to none rooms and facilities very good 4 ring cooker fridge microwave toaster kettle flat screen tv large sea view balcony. Stayed for 7days May 2017 package deal from Belfast £600 for two now beat that
Three of us stayed for 4 nights in a two bedroom apartment. Very spacious, clean, basic accommodation with balcony with seaview. Only. £300 for 3 of us inc. breakfast. Great location above wonderful sandy beach (down 120 steps !). At quiet end of town, 10 mins. walk from bars and restaurants. Directions to hotel from Booking.com are useless. It's all very well giving street names, but these (apparently) only exist on maps and not in real life. Much easier if on leaving A22 or N125 you head for Portimao, and then just follow brown signs to Praia de Rocha. You'll go through an underpass; past Lidl; under a pink footbridge. Just before you hit the sea (having passed two 16-storey blocks on your left) look to your right, and you will see a large sand-coloured hotel with "President" in giant blue letters on the roof ! You can't miss it. We'll certainly go back there.
I travelled in a group of 3 and the 2 bedroom apartment we booked was great. 1st bedroom, a large room with double bed & big built in wardrobe. 2nd bedroom large with 2 single beds with large built in wardrobe and the lounge/diner large all with patio doors leading onto the large balcony. the bathroom was also large and well equipped and the kitchen was basic with stove top, kettle, microwave and small fridge freezer. the only thing I would have liked extra in the room was a grill or oven as we were limited as to what we could cook on our self catering holiday. The hotel overall was very good but some evening entertainment would have made this better.
Basic self-catering accommodation half way along the coastal road between Praia da Rocha and Praia do Vau. Beach is just over the road (down some steps). It's a short walk to restaurants and a little bit further to the shops in the main strip, and there's a small supermarket downstairs (9am to 7pm). Its location makes it ideal for a quiet beach break. One bedroom apartment (216) was spacious and had a sea view. The bedroom had plenty of hanging space, a couple of drawers and shelves. Bathroom has a bath with shower over (not very powerful) - be aware they only supply soap, and only when you check in, so take your own toiletries. Kitchen is well equipped, with electric hob, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. Large lounge area has two sofas and TV. There's access to the balcony from both the lounge and bedroom. Apartments are cleaned every day. There is a restaurant for breakfast and dinner downstairs which we didn't use. A bar which also serves snacks at lunchtime only. Decent sized pool area, with plenty of sunbeds. Wifi is available to purchase at 5 euro a day/10 euro for 3 days/15 euro for 7 days, per device. Wifi service in the apartment was good. You could also rent an air con remote (I think that was 15 euro) and safe key (10 euro plus 20 euro deposit). Although the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the strip, there is one bar nearby which hosted a music festival for 4 nights during our stay, playing loud music from 4pm to midnight. Once the festival finished we didn't really notice any noise at night apart from people returning to their apartments.
It's a basic apt/hotel. Its not luxury or fancy but it's clean and comfortable. The apt itself is massive, we had a 2 bedroom apt on the 1st floor, we had plenty of space. If you had the privilege of a sea view, you were in luck because the views from here are just beautiful. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away. The strip itself is about 10 mins away to get into the heart of it. It's perfect location if u don't want to be in the hype of it or be disturbed at all hours of the morning. There is no free WiFi is the apt block, it's 15 euro per device for one week. It works perfect in the rooms and also by the pool. You have to pay a deposit to get the air conditioning remote, I think it was 20 and you get 10 back or something on those lines. Same crack with an extra room key. There is no iron or hair dryer in the apts but as far as I know can be gotten from reception (well deffo the iron). Cleaners come everyday to make beds etc, towels changed every second day but if u leave dirty ones under the sink they will change them and you will be charged extra. Sheets are only changed once a week. They don't provide washing up liquid or a sponge or that so if your planning on using the kitchen just remember that. There is a small supermarket around the corner but like most convience stores she's a bit over priced and make sure you get the right change. She's known to cod ya. Spar is about a 5 min walk up the strip so might be worth going there. We didn't eat here atal but we did use the bar while at the pool. Drink is very reasonable for an apt/hotel and the guys in there are very friendly. Pool is clean and basic, not massive but was fine. Between 40-50 beds, plenty of them at this time of the year. As the saying goes, you get what you paid for. All in all, This is my second visit here, about 8 years apart and I would return.
We recently returned from a weeks stay. After reading alot of reviews I was a bit apprehensive but all my fears were quickly put to rest. From start to finish the staff are excellent from start to finish very helpful and friendly especially the staff in the bar/restaurant. We were in apartment 702 on 7th floor, our bedroom balcony was overlooking the main road but the traffic or noise was no issue. We were very lucky to also have a rooftop area for sitting out which overlooked the beach and surrounding areas it was spectacular. The hotel itself is basic and appears old, some of tiles on roof needing repair but that did not dampen our spirits. The building is perfect location with only a short walk 10/15 to the beginning of the strip . The beach is on your backdoor, most beaches have alot of steps up to 80, but if when you come out the main door turn left then right there is a beach with only 5/6 steps more suitable if elderly travelling or the less fit. Our apartment was spotless and attended to daily there was three of us In the party with no shortage of fresh towels and bedlinen. We did not eat in the restaurant as we prepared breakfast In the apartment (there is a shop on site a little expensive but they did serve fresh bread and cakes daily, spar is about 8-10 walk and lidl aldi about 40 min walk - 10 taxi) and we went to strip every night for a change of scenery, but some of the days we had lunch at the pool and the food was very good (salads, sandwiches, burgers, chips) all of which very reasonable and large portions served. The pool area was clean and maintained well. There are some charges to be aware of- €15 for 7 days Wi-Fi, which i found perfect and had no issues with, it worked at pool and In apartment. €15 for hire of air conditioning remote control (refundable) €10 for extra room key (refundable ) €30 for safety deposit (€20 refundable) Overall this is perfect location I would recommend to friends and family and i would definitely consider returning. Keep up the good work 😁
Rooms large, everything supplied, excellent staff. Restaurant and bar staff friendly, receptionists friendly and extremely helpful and cleaning staff wonderful. My room was cleaned everyday and left spotless by cleaners. Quiet hotel but only a short walk to noisy Praia de Rocha and even less to small area Praia de Vau. Steep steps down to beach near hotel but easily accessible at Praia de Vau. One word of caution. Hotel has beautiful sea views from 3 sides but one side has balconies over a busy road which is quite noisy so check this when booking.
(+) We liked a lot the apartments' location and the staff services (cleanliness and the attitude). Also, the apartments (we stayed in the two rooms apartments) are big. The cleaning is done every day and the towels are changed each two days. (-) The beds were uncomfortable and the furniture old. Fortunately, the cleaning is done on a daily basis. Based on the logo described by the furniture equipment, the apartments were initially quoted with 4*, but presently, the hotel is evaluated with 2*. We had to pay (additionally) for the safe's key and also a (refundable) deposit for the air conditioning remote control. No free wifi.
Just returned from this hotel x had a fabulous time. The rooms and balconies are huge. Rooms cleaned and towels changed everyday if required. The reception staff were so good, really polite and good English. Helped us order taxis and mobility scooter for my dad. Pool area clean and no problems with sunbeds. The Aircon was brilliant as it was the hottest weather for along time . Well stocked kitchen, all the utensils you need. We had room 213 overlooking the pool and with a seaview. About 10 mins to Praia da Vau beach (there are closer ones). Lovely 10 mins stroll to shops and bars
Just back last night from a week in this location and staying in this hotel, stayed in room 509 a two bedroom apartment, found it to be very spacious very clean with views from balcony and the front door absolutely amazing, towels bedding and general cleaning done while we stayed. The location is perfect for anyone with children beach is 10mins away while shops restaurants are all a walking distance while looking out at the sea. The pool was fantastic and surrounding area of it was clean, food in the hotel was nice, it was mostly the snack menu we ordered from when we ate there, they do a buffet for €18 but the menu did not appeal to us. The staff are very friendly and very professional, they really look after you if needed. I would highly recommend this hotel for location friendliness and cleanliness, it was spot on for us a group of 13 with ages ranging from 6yrs to 71yrs. Portimao is a fantastic place to visit. Loved it hated leaving
