Unfortunately the Merry Acres I have enjoyed for decades is just mediocre. The room had hair all over the floor, outlets didn’t work, the commode was stopped up, the keys issued for the room didn’t work- two times. Each requiring a long walk back to the front desk… staff is friendly but that’s all you get. Construction supplies all over the grounds… just sad really.

The young man who checked us in and checked us out was very nice. He showed us to our room because we weren’t sure how to get there. When we got to the room and walked into the kitchen the first thing we saw was a bug on the counter. There were no trash bags in the kitchen garbage can and no paper towels. Inside the kitchen cabinets and kitchen drawers was disgusting; dirt or bug drippings (couldn’t tell what it was but it was filthy) were in every cabinet and drawer. There were no dishes nor eating utensils. The bathrooms looked as though they have never been updated; around the toilets was disgusting. We checked our mattresses for bed bugs. The comforter had stains. The duvet looked clean. One of our people sat on the couch for a minute or two and got up feeling dirty. It was a terrible experience. Merry Acres used to be the place to stay but not anymore!

I stay here for work several days a month and have for several years. The recent upgrades are wonderful! New beds, decor makes you feel like you are in an upscale boutique hotel! The restaurant and bar are cozy and the staff is so very friendly! Great food and the bar is well stocked.

We stayed in an updated room which was great, but obviously no one checked to be sure the room was truly finished before allowing a guest to stay there. There was a desk with no chair. Some outlets did not work. There were no towel hooks, and no hangers in the closet. There was a new espresso machine, but not enough espresso pods. The heater was quite loud all night long and we did not get a good nights rest because of the noise. The ice maker did not work in our building, and we had to walk all the way to the front office to get ice from the pub. I would not stay here again.

The main issue was the heater it did not work and when I returned from dinner to call front desk no one was available, so it was very cold overnight.. the next night the lady just said they would look into but nothing was done it was 58 degrees in the room.

Staff were courteous and friendly. The property was neat and festive for the Holiday season. The first room wasn't clean. Unfortunately, the bathroom was much to be desired. So we changed rooms. However, the 2nd room was clean and tidy. The overall environment was quite and it's close enough to convenient stores and restaurants.
