Not sure how many stars this hotel claims to have, but would say 4 at the very most. When we first drove up, had to wait for two cars in front to be dealt with first as there was only one person taking and labelling the luggage - a young girl who could hardly lift them. When it came to our turn, my husband had to put them on the trolley himself. The checkin was fine but there was one girl who outshone the others and gave excellent customer service every time - thank you Jemima :) You have a fantastic attitude! The room wasn't ready, which was fine as we were early and they did call us to say it was ready a couple of hours before check-in time. One of my main disappointments was there was no bath!! A good shower, yes - but no bath. My one luxury when away from home. The rooms were well serviced and had Appelles toiletries which I love and buy at home. There wasn't any complimentary water though which is unusual these days and no turndown service either. Also, outside the sliding door, which opened onto a terrace, there was one of the tall silver ashtrays full of cigarette butts and an empty beer bottle nearby - not sure if this was from previous guests or staff but not a pleasant sight. The walls in the rooms were quite thin and it was pretty easy to hear the TV next door and for one day at least we could hear American soaps really loud way after midnight with no response to requests to turn down the volume!! It would be good to have a room option that included breakfast - we did have the breakfast there which included several healthy options and although there wasn't a huge choice, it was all very well done and very tasty. A proper coffee would have been a bonus instead of one from a machine. The bar had good value drinks with great cocktails too! Again the staff here were very friendly. One thing which we liked was the fact there was a washer and dryer downstairs that guests could access - a great idea rather than having to pay per item. Overall not a bad stay but would probably try elsewhere next time.
We just stayed there for 4 nights 5 days . Our room is on level 2, it was ok on tue, wed , thur .. but on Friday night , we can hear loud music for whole night !! It was affecting our sleep Also the swimming pool which is in the basement level was quite small . Also the water was so cold ! It wasn’t heated at all and it’s like icy cold ... we saw lots of guests tried to swim there but for like a few min , they will left and go to the spa instead and they also saying the water was too cold . The positive thing about this pool is we saw some worker tried to collect the water and test the quality .. so I guess the water can’t be too bad then We also disappointed that they charged us the cost for newspaper !! Usually it’s something complimentary ! We also didn’t order the Newspaper as well !!! We just saw it in front of our door every morning ! So we just picked it up And took it in our room !! I didn’t even have time to read it as we were out whole day !! I feel it’s abit unfair they charged us that way Also the tram line was closed right in front of our hotel !! So we have to walk down to victoria square to take tram to glenglr beach !! It was noisy and dust too
Had a fabulous New Years Eve night experience at the Playford. Great staff, excellent room & lovely food. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for accommodation in the gorgeous Adelaide. Close to the Convention Centre, Casino & a short stroll to Rundle Mall plus hidden laneway bars.
It's not often that you rock up to a large hotel and have the staff pay more attention to your children than yourself. At first this might sound rude, but it's actually a breath of fresh air, as heck they are people too! Anyway this hotel for the price exceeded our expectations. From the lovely staff down to the amenities. We booked this over NYE so in terms of positioning it was across the road from the fireworks. We had a ball at this hotel, it allowed us to explore Adelaide with ease and made us feel at home. We look forward to returning one day in the near future.
Historic hotel in a pleasant part of town, walkable to the river. Room was nicely furnished and spacious but had a view of a brick wall. Bed was comfortable but not quite up to what I've experienced previously in Sofitels. I had a room service dinner which was good; room was large enough to accommodate a dining trolley, which worked out better than the trays you get in most places. Breakfast buffet was reasonable, but felt very expensive for what you got. I was disappointed to have to stand in line to get a coffee each time. Overall room rate felt good value though. Didn't have time to explore leisure facilities.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and I can not fault it. Clean, comfortable and central. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is visually appealing. This place would be one of the top places I have stayed. There is a good choice of surrounding resturants and shopping within walking distance. And, don't forget to use the tram service - in particular to the end of the line to the beautiful Glenelg Beach. Note, all day tram/bus use is $10 per adult and these tickets can be brought on the tram - but you needed coins for the machine (we ended up buying ours on the bus). Happy hour at the bar can get busy, but it is a nice relaxing place to wind down.
We (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed at The Playford for two nights, a week apart. The first night was in a guest room with two queen beds on the second floor. The second night was spent in a two bedroom loft suite on the seventh floor. We could not fault the accommodation on either night. Both rooms were spacious, well appointed, quiet with very large bathrooms. The loft suite had the benefit of a separate bedroom, living area and large bathroom downstairs with two single beds and a toilet upstairs accessed by a spiral metal staircase. We did not book the loft suite so were very surprised when we opened the door. The unexpected upgrade together with free wifi meant that our children were in heaven! My husband and children enjoyed the pool whilst I worked out in the adjoining gym. The standard/quality of both facilities exceeded expectations although there isn't a lot of area surrounding the pool on which to relax. The staff were amazing - friendly, efficient and accommodating. The location is very central with Rundle Mall and a number of restaurants only minutes away.
The location of the hotel is good. There are some nice restaurants close to the hotel and the airport is a 20 min drive. The hotel has a certain elegance but I think it's also out dated in some aspects. The beds are good and nothing to complain about the service. The price to value was fine.
This hotel is totally worth it. It was an amazing entrance and staff as well as the room is big and bright with an amazing bathroom. It’s a 5 Star so of course it’s good but they go the extra mile including a pillow menu! You can choose what type of pillow you want!!
Treated ourselves and stayed in the studio spa suite overlooking North Tce! A absolutely beautiful room... clean, spacious and luxurious! Double glass windows / doors to block out noise from North Tce, blockout curtains, a pillow menu and a gorgeous marble bathroom with spa bath. Great customer service! Love that the pool and spa are open 24hrs! Easy car parking right next door in laneway, amazing buffet breaky! Highly recommend this hotel!
