Great location in the centre of Adelaide. Right on top of train, tram and bus services, and close to shopping, dining and sightseeing. Short walk to Adelaide Oval. Large, sparse and slightly dated room. Good separate bathroom. Annoyingly small TV. Incredibly slow lifts. Simple but adequate buffet breakfast. No real complaints but nothing special. Not bad if you can get a good deal.
i found the mercure grosvenor a quite nice convenient hotel.my one issue regarding room cleaning was dealt with quickly. I found my room quite noisy being next to minor side road with a multi story carpark and a rooftop bar nearby. my one complaint is shower in the bath with just a sheet of glassto hang on to. i would expect some hand rails to assist as a prerequisite for this design.I found it very slippery
Small room, If you like to wake up and look out to see what is going on this is not the hotel for you. There was no view at all from our room. The curtains were also drawn to hide this fact. Customer Laundry facility was useful.
The rooms are so small! You can't actually open the bathroom door without it hitting the glass bath door. The shower is wedged into the corner and is so small it's triangular. The toilet area is so small as a male I couldn't position myself in front of the toilet. There is no adjustment for the a.c. and the vents were dirty. The bed was hard and carpet worn...i could go on and on with the issues in this room. Honestly save your money and go elsewhere
The rooms in this hotel are small, the corridors are hard to navigate (large pillars in the way) and the decor is tired and in want of a refresh. The Mercure brand provides the basics that prevents the score being lower, but if you are coming to Adelaide, look for an alternative as there are many better options!
I selected this hotel as I've been very happy with Mercure hotels around the world over the years. This one is "OK" - well located and the usual great Mercure staff. However, the room is in need of redecorating and there were noisy extractor fans in each room which could be heard from other rooms, as well as various knocking sounds coming from the aircon. I was up each day for work, but had this been a leisure trip and I'd wanted a lie in, I'd have been awoken early each day with the noise of extractor fans from the bathrooms of neighbouring rooms. Not good enough for the price point.
I have lost count how many times I've stayed here. Normally if I am coming to Adelaide for a conference at the convention centre, this is my first choice. Also close to uni and SAHMRI and hospital. Lots of places around to eat in short walk . Rooms are nothing fancy but always clean and comfortable bed. Staff are always helpful. Restaurant onsite is good and open late. Breakfast onsite is good value.
As we always doe when we visit Adelaide we stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel directly opposite the Adelaide rail station and casino. The hotel is one block away from the main shopping area and across from the major sports ovals. Whilst the hotel is showing it age in some places, this is surpassed by the service from reception, restaurant and housekeeping staff. Our room was very small when we checked in and following a request for a slightly bigger room for the three days, this was immediately changed and we were most appreciative. Thankyou management and staff.
Very short trip overnight to Adelaide from Melbourne. Room was smallish, but made up for that with compact easy layout and access to all room services: coffee, ironing board, good shower facilities and a bed that made sleeping a pleasure. Breakfast choices above average, just needed to have a bit more enthusiastic welcome by maître'd who seemed distracted.
Below expectations. The first room I was in was dingy and poorly laid out, the lack of a view/functional window made it claustrophobic. Scuffed walls, broken cupboard in bathroom. It was far to cold at night with no heating control in the room. Eventually at 12 am I complained and after my second call housekeeping sent up a tiny heater that was inadequate for the room size. After another complaint and presenting to the front desk, they moved me into another room with extra blankets. Again I was unable to adjust the room temperature and was advised that it was an old hotel and the overall thermostat took 48 hours to change. It was now set to cooling as it was ‘summer’, even though I pointed out the ambient temperature outside was 8c and room temperature less that 20c. The supplied heater was very noisy and I was unable to sleep. I complained again the next morning and was told I could move again but all rooms had the same issue. I stuck it out for 5 nights as I had no choice but have never been so glad to leave a hotel. Luckily the ambient temperature increased but then the air conditioning system was very noisy. I was given complimentary breakfast due to my complaint but only went once as I had to carry my full plate of food and drinks down the stairs which was pretty poor, plus the coffee was terrible. I can’t find anything good to say about the hotel. I also found food scraps twice on the carpets in the morning, when going to the lifts, not sure what the waiters were up to.
