Came here in January, the views outside the windows in the morning are breathtaking. Beautiful sites of the snow capped mountains. Rooms were ok, there was a little electric heater to keep the room a nice tempreture. Breakfast was average again. A decent selection of hot and cold meals (lots of eggs and cold meats). The restaurant is not open during non peak times, so be prepared to get a taxi to the nearest town for dinner!

We went to this Casino and it was really nice. They have table games as well as slots. Security is tight and you feel very secure there. Drink service was nice. They charge admission but give you 2 drinks. In the lobby I noticed that they also have a hotel. I did not stay there but the lobby was clean & elegant. Service staff very professional. English spoken by everyone.

We stayed for three days at this hotel, the location is very close to Patras. The suite was fantastic and the food excellent and cocktails, i like a lot! The staff were always willing to help us, features and massage!

We stayed at the Porto Rio from 08.09-to 18.09.2016.Hotel is generally ok/but needs renovation/, with spacious rooms/ thin walls/, very good food, beautiful and well kept pools, and beautiful sandy beach. Unlike many other hotels which have their own beach here is the use of sun umbrellas and sun beds free of charge.Even the towells are available free of charge. There are 15 rooms with a sea view. The rooms which are facing West have side view to the sea,and the rooms which are facing East have the view to the pool.At least the rooms which are turned to the South have the view to big parking place. There is the city bus/stays in front of the hotel/ which goes to Patra approximately every hour./the ticket costs 2 EUR if you buy it in the bus,and 1,2 EUR if you buy it in the shop on the street. The beach is pretty clean, but it does not apply for the part outside the hotel beach. There are some nice beach bars in direction to the city of Rio,but to reach them you have to pass some unpaved dusty road. The hotel stuff are very polite and always ready to help.

I might say that the hotel is perfect for business tranellers (and for casino players ). The nearest airport is that in Athens (El. Venizelos 2,5h distance). The rooms are cleaned every day, breakfast is perfect and the service also. Very kind personel. The nearest city is Patras (15mins away) but with no public transportation. The best location is the breakfast room with a perfect view in Patraikos gulf and the famous Rio-Antirrio bridge.

It must have been grand, once... We were upgraded to a suite, but a nice room would have been sufficient. The interior seemed badly maintained, especially compared with the reception area. And speaking about the reception; the brusque female receptionist didn't actually add to the stay... Bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast is good, we enjoyed it on the terrace outside the breakfast area. Very good start of the day!

We regularly visit Achaia for vacation to spend time with family. This visit, we decided to try the Porto Rio Hotel and Casino for a few nights, as its website describe itself "amongst the most modern for four (4) star hotels in Achaia." The description of the hotel cannot be farther from our was truly a disappointment in terms of accommodation and service. The first floor of the hotel (lobby, restaurant, business center, and casino entrance) appear to have been relatively recently remodeled, but the guest rooms have not been remodeled since the 1980's at least. We stayed in a double room, which according to the hotel website offers "all the comforts of a four star hotel". The A/C unit in our room did not work properly, despite requests to repair it. The shower head was broken. Then we found a live cockroach in our room late one night. We immediately went to reception and asked to move to another room in the middle of our stay. (This hotel is the first in my experience to include cockroaches as a "4-star comfort".) As a hotel guest, we were unable to get a lounge chair at the pool, since the pool fills up with local residents who show up each day to use it as a public swimming pool. There is a sign posted that non-hotel guests will be charged a daily rate to use pool, but we observed that is clearly not enforced. The free, open Wi Fi signal is very poor, probably due to all the locals sponging off of it during their free pool day visits. Hotel service was also disappointing...none of the workers seemed to care about anything, much less the paying hotel guests. When we explained our poor experiences at check-out and asked to speak to manager to rectify our situation, the manager would not speak directly to us and instead simply told the reception clerk to offer us a 11 EUR per night deduction (basically 8% discount) from our bill to get us out of his/her hair. Even with that discount, the rate for our stay at this sub-par "hotel" was more than rates we paid at other much better 4-star hotels (including rates in Athens). Although degenerate gamblers might find the accommodations acceptable after they lose all their money at the hotel casino, this hotel is nowhere near acceptable as a 4-star property for any reasonable paying guest. For better hotel experiences and values, drive the extra 45-60 mins westward toward Kyllini and skip the Porto Rio Hotel and Casino!

The area is nice, the pool and the sea also, but this hotel is absolutely tasteless, for "nouveau-riche" travellers, while the personnel is mostly non-professional. As for the breakfast orange juice.... In an area full of orange trees they serve a horrible yellow chemical similee juice!

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. When we arrived, they didn't have our reservation, but honored the price I had on my confirmation and upgraded us to a Junior Suite for the inconvenience. The view from the upgraded room was awesome! We had a full sea view and from our other window, we had a sea/bridge/pool view. It was great at night because with the patio door open and the window, we could hear the sea and had a great cool breeze. We never used the AC. The internet was free, but impossible to get a decent connection. The hotel is a little run down and could use some sprucing up, especially in the halls and such. The workout room was only available during the middle of the day. The buffet was nice, and the pool was great. The staff was very nice and helpful. Being connected to a casino, it could be smoky, but the rooms weren't. We had a nice stay and would consider it when we return.

The Porto Rio is closer to Rio than to Patras - short walk to a number of enjoyable seaside restaurants and bars. Though clean, rooms were definitely showing signs of wear. The rooms were stuffy - central air didn't really work and the only way to cool down the rooms was to leave the window open. Water pressure was variable, and Internet was spotty at times (stronger connection in the lobby). Good breakfast buffet in the morning, and lovely views of the Bay of Patras.
